Bollywood will have you believe that finding love is all blooming roses and string quartets. We often take those roses and string instruments as the perfect recipe for a happily ever after. But is that all it takes to make a good marriage, a solid partnership that will withstand the test of time? In this conversation with cartoonist and entrepreneur, Sameera Maruvada, we talk about “How to find your husband?” No, this is not the podcast your mom wants you to hear so that you will finally see the photos of the nice boys she has shortlisted for you! But if you do think that marriage is something you want from life, you should listen to this anyway – because here, we will talk here about some all-important questions to ask our prospective partners that Bollywood romances forgot to teach us about. Show Notes You can follow Sameera’s brilliant art on her Instagram page. My guest this week is the movie critic, writer, and journalist, Shreemi Verma. We talk about all things Rocky aur Rani and Barbie - our favourite moments from the films, what they are saying about women, and what this could mean for the future of cinema. PS: One of us might have been PMSing so please pardon our colourful language! Shreemi on Twitter: https://twitter.com/shreemiverma
Madhu is one of the funniest, goofiest, most insightful people I have had the pleasure of meeting. It just so happens that she also lives with a physical challenge - a rare form of muscular dystrophy that limits her mobility. In the episode, we chat about the portrayal of people living with physical challenges in media, the poor accessibility of our public spaces and what that means for the representation of people living with mobility challenges. My favourite part of the podcast is where she speaks with amazing clarity and humour about going through dating and marriage as a woman who has a physical challenge. I hope you enjoy this conversation as much as I did!
