She has worked as a parenting educator and a teacher of parenting science. On this episode Madeleine and Lisa have a discussion on the topic of helicopter parenting. Lisa uses the terms “Rescuing your children” rather then helping and guiding them. In order for our children to reach adulthood with all the skills they require they need to be taught and nurtured but also left alone to figure things out. Lisa brings up important questions such as; how early should they start doing chores? When is it okay to let your child take risks that could hurt them? Does your child need assistance or just a listening ear? These questions and more are the backbone of the important conversation that has taken place.  Lisa's website: www.parentcoachconnection.com Madeleine's website: https://resilientkids.org.nz/ Get in touch: resilientkidspod@gmail.com
Heather has been working with parents and parenting professionals for 15 years and offers a unique perspective all the way from Carolina in the USA. In their conversation Madeleine and Heather discuss how hard it is for parents to find their own solutions when issues come up with their children rather then looking for help from professionals. The irony of this being a parenting podcast is not missed. Parents have intuitive sense of what their children need, and Heather provides suggestions for how parents can look inwards to find information in difficult situations.  Heathers website: www.reflectivedialogue.com
