Ill be picking this little experiment back up again this August!
A brief run down on the celebration of samhain and it evolved into Allhallowstide...which would go on to become Halloween! Special thanks to Paul McInally for his celtic cover of the Hallofiend theme in the beginning of this episode! Also there are some points in which I mess up in this episode. For example, the way I make it sound, it sounds like I say mumming and guising are one phrase when they are two separate words for the same activity. There are several errors in my speaking and also I realize now I didn't really complete my thoughts when I start talking about Pope Gregory. But for the most part, this episode captures what I wanted to cover despite the small errors. Anyway, thanks again for listening to Hallofiend, and I hope you enjoyed!
Join me as I discuss the original 1978 Halloween and briefly examine it's history! Please forgive me for anything I've forgotten to add, I feel terrible for not mentioning Dean Cundey and his amazing cinematography! There's so much more I could've included. But, it is what it is haha. And yes, I know...the S is silent in Illinois haha. I misspoke
Join me as we take a very brief look at the history of Halloween costumes! *****Forgive me for the very scattered and hard to follow banter towards the end, and also not really finalizing the history towards the end. Maybe I'll redo this one later down the road. And also, I am aware Ontario is not America in that it's not the United States. When I referred to it as being America, I meant the continent of America.****
Hello! Join me as I take a brief look at the history of the Jack O Lantern, the most infamous of all the Halloween iconography.
Hello Hallofiends!
Today we kick off this show officially with the first dedicated episode. Join me as we take a brief look at the history of haunted attractions!
All apologies for the brief audio error when talking about the Jaycees. Not sure what happened there. Also apologies for my overuse of the word 'various' haha
Hello Folks! My name is Craig and I'll be your host as we explore all things Halloween! From the history of the traditions we celebrate every year here in America to the best horror films for the season and all else in-between! This episode is just a brief introduction to myself and the future of this pod. Subscribe if this sounds like something you'd be interested in hearing more of in the future! *Song name: Dr. Loomis. Artist: myself
Just a quick update
Just making some announcements and wishing you a very Happy Halloween! And quick correction- the email is hallofiendpodcast@gmail.com🎃🦇🕸💀🍂
Thanks for checking out The 2nd installment of Fun Sized. Today we look into the history of Wax lips and Paraffin based candies. NOTE- As I say in the episode, the information is very scarce. I've outlined here more of a general history of Paraffin candy and the companies that made them. Unfortunately, iwas not clear to me in my research, when the infamous ruby red lips or more specifically the wax Fangs came to be. I'm sorry for that. Also note that in the episode, the lips and fangs are assumed a part of the wax novelty candies I describe. Amongst them were also the infamous candy coke bottles I'm sure you are familiar with for further examples of what exactly a wax novelty might include besides the Wax Lips/Fangs. Also forgive me for times I mess up speaking. But, I think you get what I'm saying within context haha
Join me for the first episode of Hallofiend: Fun Sized in a quick look at the history of Halloween's most hated treat, Candy Corn. *** yes I know, it's "seasonal", not "seasonable". Haha***
