Did you know that only 28% of architects in America are women? Y'all, that stat stopped me in my tracks and it made me even more proud to have Victoria Williams sitting across at VBA Architecture in Panama City. Today she runs a firm licensed in eight states and she has poured her heart into this community in ways that will sincerely warm your heart. Victoria also has written a book called Buying the Dream: Don't Get Stuck with a Nightmare, and it could save you a world of heartache.Episode Highlights:[02:14] Finding Architecture in a Course Manual[04:18] Only 28% of Architects Are Women [10:59] Irene Field: A Woman Who Lifts Others Up First[20:48] Downtown Panama City: A Community Rising After the Storm[23:53] Boards That Work: Anchorage Children's Home & Junior Achievement[28:16] Victoria's Book: Buying the Dream Don't Get Stuck with a NightmareVictoria's Book:Buying the Dream: Don't Get Stuck with a Nightmare: https://a.co/d/0gAXCufhBig Thanks To Our Sponsors:Holiday Beach Mechanical: https://holidaybeachmechanical.comTeam Patriot LLC: https://teampatriotllc.comHue Salon: www.huesalonandboutique.comElysian Med Spa: https://elysianpcb.comGypsy Willow: https://gypsywillowretail.comAmor Boutique: https://amorboutiquepc.comFerrucci's: https://ferruccipc.comSomething's Cookin': https://somethinscookin.comNew Merch & Book Updates! My New Merch: Check out our official Joy Is My Favorite Color and Be Sweet Y'all merch at https://be-sweet-yall.printify.me!Get My Book: Joy Is My Favorite Color is available now! I'm level 67, and I am loving it. I've noticed some of my friends buying into the myth that getting older means giving up. What?! That is just malarkey! It is NEVER too late. In 1979, a group of elderly men lived as if it were 1959. They dressed the way they did back then and spoke the way they did in their youth, and after just one week their posture, strength, and even their memory improved. My point is, the words you speak and the thoughts you keep become the life you live. If you can't get up off the floor, it's because you haven't practiced getting up! So take the stairs, and don't retire from living while you're still alive.Episode Highlights[1:04] Because I Can[1:40] One Wet Foot, One Dry Foot[3:50] The Counterclockwise Study[5:34] The Words You Speak Become the Life You Live[6:31] I Refuse to Let Circumstances Decide What's Possible[8:36] Level 67 and Loving It[8:49] Practice Getting Up Off the Floor[9:40] What You Speak About, You Bring About[11:46] Stop Rehearsing Limitations That Haven't Arrived[12:48] Take Responsibility for Your Health So Others Don't Have To[15:25] Don't Retire, Refire[16:03] When Life Feels Out of Control, Say Thank You[21:33] Don't Block Your Water View Before You Have ToBig Thanks To Our SponsorsTeam Patriot Home Solutionshttps://teampatriotllc.comHoliday Beach Mechanicalhttps://holidaybeachmechanical.comGypsy Willowhttps://gypsywillowretail.comAmor Boutiquehttps://amorboutiquepc.comPanama City Coffee Co.https://www.panamacitycoffee.comField Marketinghttps://www.facebook.com/fieldswagcoSomethin' Cookin'https://somethinscookin.comFerrucci Ristorantehttps://ferruccipc.comElysian Med Spahttps://elysianpcb.comHue Salon:www.huesalonandboutique.comNew Merch & Book UpdatesMy New Merch: Check out our official Joy Is My Favorite Color and Be Sweet Y'all merch at https://be-sweet-yall.printify.meMy Book: Joy Is My Favorite Color is available now! Last time, Sheldon and I talked about the hard stuff. This time we're talking about the good stuff, the things you get back in recovery. For most of my life I've been waiting for Sheldon to get sober. But this time I was waiting on the side of the road in downtown Panama City holding a poster, watching my son ride his bike around the corner at the end of a 500-mile ride. And that kind of waiting was so beautiful. There's a difference between not drinking and recovery. Recovery gives you a life you can't even imagine. Sheldon tells us about riding Ruckus to Relief with his friend Daniel Barousse. A bunch of misfit skateboarders rode 500 miles to raise money for free skateboards for kids. Then we get into why this time was different, and how dancing again brought back his joy. Sheldon said it best: people just want to see you alive and moving, and that's enough.Episode Highlights:[00:21] Ruckus to Relief: The 500-Mile Bike Ride[03:07] Misfit Skateboarders [05:04] Skateboarding: The First Place I Belonged[08:13] Faith, a New Job & the Last $200[10:12] Living a Life With Nothing Left[11:04] Sponsor Shoutouts & National Coffee Day[15:58] Recovery vs. Not Drinking & Getting My Teenager Back[21:50] Sick of the Climb Out: What Made the Difference[25:11] Dancing on TikTok & Creativity as a Lifesaver[28:44] "The Only Thing That Makes Her Smile"[29:47] Downtown Panama City Love About Sheldon Jernigan:Sheldon Jernigan is a son, father, dancer, content creator and voice of hope in recovery. Nine years ago, I hired a private detective to find my son in California. He had been homeless on the street and I barely recognized him. But today I’m SOOO grateful he's sitting across from me and he’s sober in my adorable studio. 💛By popular demand, Sheldon is BACK, and this time we're talking about addiction, family, and the long road to recovery.Sheldon explains why people remain in addiction far longer than anyone expects them to and how drugs literally hijack the brain. Sheldon also shares how this all started. He talks about the day his father left us, and the deep need for a man to simply see him. I open up about the family history of addiction I grew up in, and the hope I hold onto today. Sheldon said it best: God will move mountains, but you have to bring a wheelbarrow and a shovel.Episode Highlights:[02:04] How Low Can You Go? When life throws us curveballs, we often obsess over what we can't control. It’s true we can’t change what happens but we always have the power to choose how we respond. Yet, when life catches us off guard, that’s the easiest thing to forget. What if we found a way to be more proactive and less reactive for our own peace? You can't control the outcome, but you can control your reaction. And in that response? That’s where all your true power lives.Episode Highlights[2:54] Running for Your Soul, Not Just Your Body[3:41] Epictetus on Control and Response[5:25] How I Chose My Response[7:35] The Power to Change My Response[9:18] A Hard Lesson in Control[13:42] Asking "What Does This Make Possible?"[16:58] Choosing Peace When Everyone Else Chooses Conflict[19:58] Control Your Response, Not Your Circumstances[21:09] What I Appreciate AppreciatesBig Thanks To Our SponsorsTeam Patriot Home Solutions https://teampatriotllc.comHoliday Beach Mechanicalhttps://holidaybeachmechanical.comGypsy Willow https://gypsywillowretail.comAmor Boutique https://amorboutiquepc.comPanama City Coffee Co. https://www.panamacitycoffee.comField Marketinghttps://www.facebook.com/fieldswagcoNew Merch & Book UpdatesMy New Merch: Check out our official *Joy Is My Favorite Color* and *Be Sweet Y'all* merch at https://be-sweet-yall.printify.meMy Book:Joy Is My Favorite Color* is available now!
