Ty from Comeuppance Reviews is back for his monthly spot on the pod as we look at two more movies that feature rappers, "Checkmate" and "Once Upon a Time in Brooklyn." "DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some weeks in addition to the main podcast. In this episode I look at four mainstream Erotic Thrillers. In the first segment, I talk about "Body Heat" and "Body Double," why I liked them, and the ways they share DNA with 90s DTV Erotic Thrillers, and ways they differ. In the second segment I talk about "Fatal Attraction" and "Basic Instinct," and with those I look at how "Fatal Attraction" isn't a paradigm that's used often in 90s DTV Erotic Thrillers, and how "Basic Instinct" propelled an already burgeoning subgenre at that time. Finally, in the third segment I talk about my second novel, "A Girl and a Gun," giving some background on how I came up with the initial idea, how the story evolved, and how it showed me that I could write novels more easily.
