DTVC Podcast

It's our Halloween episode, I'm joined by Freddie Young from Full Moon Reviews as we look at "Maniac Cop 2". We start with the first 90 minutes or so looking at the year in movies so far, especially what we think will happen with "You Can See Everything" and some of the other current releases, and then where we think things will go with the Christmas blockbusters. Then with "Maniac Cop 2," we talk about how much we enjoyed this film, why it worked so well, and where it ranks among the three Maniac Cop films. You can find Freddie at Full Moon Reviews: http://www.fullmoonreviews.net.For last year's Halloween episode on Maniac Cop: https://open.spotify.com/episode/5H6GlPyELoDygIqFrWXkR7?si=Nvz6kATsSZK-1yfhNBXDoAFor Miscellaneous Plumbing Fixtures, you can listen on Spotify, or go here for his Bandcamp https://miscplumbingfixtures.bandcamp.com/Buy me a coffee! buymeacoffee.com/dtvconnoisseurFor my author website, go here: https://www.matthewpoirierauthor.comAnd you can grab our DTVC merch at our Threadless, https://dtvconnoisseur.threadless.com

In this DTVC Monologue I give a quick 25-minute take on the breakout action sensation "The Furious," which is now available to stream on Starz. Spoiler alert, I loved it, and I get into why. I also shine a spotlight on a DTV star in the film, look at what the ceiling is for movies like this, and do a mini rant on the whole trafficking thing in action movies. For the Diablo episode: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2OjoFWW03obezvRR9CCKG1?si=69RAMb9eQXC9-vh_7hCNiAFor Miscellaneous Plumbing Fixtures, you can listen on Spotify, or go here for his Bandcamp https://miscplumbingfixtures.bandcamp.com/For my books, go to my author website, go here: https://www.matthewpoirierauthor.com/Buy me a coffee! buymeacoffee.com/dtvconnoisseurAnd you can grab our DTVC merch at our Threadless, https://dtvconnoisseur.threadless.com

Ty from Comeuppance Reviews is back for his monthly spot on the pod as we continue our "On the Skids" series with "Keitel on the Skids." Our first film is "Paradox Effect," which also stars Olga Kurylenko, and the poor man's Statham from "Wire Room." Our second one is the long-awaited "The Wrecker," which was directed by Art Camacho, and stars a bunch of returning champions. Finally, our spotlight on a fight looks at the end fight between Stallone and Armand Assante in "Judge Dredd."For Morgy on the Skids: https://open.spotify.com/episode/3hJVvTUubZnBzYj6sAvc66?si=ADbrAmseR22KU54Bg2GlwgFor Malki on the Skids: https://open.spotify.com/episode/6vLHHUCysOFOxPevFCUkaV?si=impDsl_7SNmYI6S0B_TPQAFor the Letterboxd list of the movies Ty and I have covered, you can go here: https://boxd.it/oXfLm You can find Ty at comeuppancereviews.net, or on the Comeuppance Reviews podcast, which you can subscribe to on most major podcatchers. For Miscellaneous Plumbing Fixtures, the writer of our theme song, you can listen on Spotify, or go here for his Bandcamp https://miscplumbingfixtures.bandcamp.com/Support the DTVC on Buy Me a Coffee! https://buymeacoffee.com/dtvconnoisseurFor my author website, go here: https://www.matthewpoirierauthor.comAnd you can grab our DTVC merch at our Threadless, https://dtvconnoisseur.threadless.com

"DTVC Extra" are shorter solo episodes that I'll be posting on some weeks in addition to the main podcast. In this episode I look at the three live action Street Fighter movies. In the first segment, I talk about my history with the video game, and then get into 1994's "Street Fighter," how my friends and I didn't have great expectations for it, but we wanted to see Van Damme. I also talk about how this affected Van Damme's career, but maybe not the way we think. In the second segment I talk about the much maligned "Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li." I didn't dislike it, and I think it's perhaps because it feels like a good DTV actioner. In the third segment I talk about the newest movie, which I saw in the theater yesterday. It was a movie I was hoping would be great, did it live up to expectations? Finally, in the fourth segment I talk about my first novel, "Chad in Accounting," giving some background on how I came up with the initial idea, how the story evolved, and how I learned that writing the books might be the easiest part of self-publishing novels. We're joined once again by Mitch from the Video Vacuum, and this time we're doing a little movie autopsy as we look at "Bad Bizness" aka "More Mercy," and we try to see where the first director, Albert Pyun, ends, and the second director, Jim Wynorski, begins; but also where do Fred Olen Ray and Andrew Stevens come into this? Before that though, we talk about at Mitch's new book, "The Video Vacuum Strikes Back."For Mitch's "Fateful Findings" episode: https://open.spotify.com/episode/2SbP3xaFGVjDWuKP429vaP?si=pCyGfjXJRCC2aiN4qZO88wFor Mitch's "Champagne and Bullets" episode: https://open.spotify.com/episode/7kQf6hYeYOlAIB1NrHbCKl?si=PkgvOkshTHyM2Uc5sEjqwgYou can find The Video Vacuum at https://thevideovacuum.blogspot.com/ And his latest book, The Video Vacuum Strikes Back! which is available now for pre-sale before it's released on August 17th here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0H2BWQCRQLooking for something for Spooky Season?
