Mom is in New York and somehow everything has gone wrong. Her suitcase locked itself and she had to haul it to the Rimowa store in Soho to get it opened. Two pharmacies turned her away for her prescription and she had to call the doctor. And through all of it she is wearing a Brewers windbreaker and fully convinced they are winning the World Series.
We are talking beauty secrets we swear by, mom’s fall closet clean out and then things got really real. Mom opened her wedding cards from 42 years ago over a bottle of wine with dad and was completely unprepared for how emotional it got. Also after losing some close friends, Carol and Kevin had some of the most important conversations of their marriage about life, love and what matters most. Oh and mom is fully unhinged about the Brewers being in the World Series and we would not have it any other way.
Katy is back after being sick for a week and we have so much to catch up on. Katy’s best friend of 20 years just made her Broadway debut in Chicago and Katy was second row center crying the entire time. Mom is suddenly the biggest Milwaukee Brewers fan anyone has ever seen. And we need to talk about why it is absolutely impossible to get your husband to go clothes shopping when he has zero problem ordering a Stetson hat online at midnight.
Katy is under the weather this week so Carol is flying solo and she has a lot to say about grandparenting. Carol just celebrated her birthday and sat down with producer Will for an honest conversation about what it really means to go from being a mom to being a grandma and why nothing fully prepares you for how much you love it. Plus Carol spent grandparents day at school with her grandkids and came home with her whole heart full.
Mom went up to the attic looking for a piece of furniture and found four boxes she had completely forgotten about. Love letters from suitors before dad. Wedding cards and shower napkins from 42 years ago. Her grandmother's handwritten birthday cards from the old country. A Honeymoon Handbook gifted by her sister. College papers her professors had to sign off on. And one very long letter from a man who was not dad that dad read out loud last night. Now the question is what do you do with all of it and is it okay to let go.
