Thank you so much for tuning in to our Summer in Hawaii series! We hope you've enjoyed all the special guests we have had as much as we did. We could not have thought of a better guest to end our Summer in Hawaii series than Charles! Lanai-born and co-founder of HNL Studios, he shares his experiences, knowledge, and insights on what it's like being a local in Hawaii. Although he is not an expert on Leave No Trace, its principles are similar and deeply rooted in the upbringing and culture of Hawaii. Leave No Trace applies not just to Hawaii but all around and world. It is important for us to continue to educate ourselves and do better because minimizing our impact on the planet is becoming more crucial than ever. We only slightly scratched the surface regarding the Leave No Trace principles so please look into the resources below to learn more! Welcome to Summer in Hawaii! A collection of episodes recorded on the beautiful sunny beaches of Maui. We kick off this special series, with a cheeky Q&A episode. We had a few questions left over from our previous Q&A so we thought we would take this time to answer the rest of them. We answer questions regarding planning and organization, whether we have assistants or additional help in our business, as well as marketing and social media. So many more exciting things to come this summer, so please stay tuned for another episode airing every Tuesday on all podcast platforms as well as on Youtube! === **Podcast Intro** What do you get when you put three introverted photographers together? Saying that lots went down in this episode would be an understatement. First, we answered some podcast-related questions, which involved us subtly (or not so subtly) roasting our own podcast and each other. We also may have over-shared just a tad, sharing some of our secrets (which are no longer secrets). AND we officially announce something exciting that is coming to the podcast! We cannot wait for all the things coming your way starting next week so start counting down the days because you do not want to miss out! Thanks again to all that have supported us, it truly means everything. === **Podcast Intro** What do you get when you put three introverted photographers together? A chit-chatty podcast of course! SPOILER ALERT! Taking photos is only a small percentage of a photographer's job and day-to-day life. After all, we are running our own businesses and have lots of admin and back-end things to take care of. We split the episode up by sharing the systems and software we use for organization, CRMs (customer relationship management), actual photography-related tasks, and the software we use to bring you episodes every week! As always, we went side-tracked and off-topic and discussed things like John's Iceland trip as well as AI in photography... yeah you'll have to tune in to see how we even got there... We hope you enjoy this episode and gained insight into some of the tools we use to help us as photographers. We would love to hear what other systems of software you use, so please leave us a comment! === **Podcast Intro** What do you get when you put three introverted photographers together? We met at a photography workshop, so it was only natural we dedicate an episode discussing all about them. There are various types of photography workshops out there but we wanted to focus on the in-person workshops. We share our experiences with them, sharing more about the one where we met, what workshops may entail, the benefits of attending workshops, possible downsides, and more! Because we met at a workshop, I think we may be slightly biased toward them but let us know if you've attended any in the past or have any lined up in the future. What are some of the factors that make a workshop worth it or convince you to attend in the first place? We hope you enjoy this one! === **Podcast Intro** What do you get when you put three introverted photographers together? A chit-chatty podcast of course! Whether you want to become a full-time photographer or not, or whether you did the transition from turning your hobby and passion into your full-time gig. Everyone's photography journey will be different and there's no right or wrong way to go about it either. In this episode, we wanted to discuss the journey of turning a part-time photography gig into a full-time one. We chat about why we would want to make that transition, when it may be a good time to make that jump, some steps to help with the transition, and so much more! With Eugene being a full-time photographer and Pauline and John as part-time photographers we offer a variety of experiences, perspectives, and opinions on the subject. 18. WPPI Expo

18. WPPI Expo

2023-04-0548:51

The WPPI Expo happened last month and we wanted to do a recap of Eugene and John's experience! For photographers who have never attended, this may provide some insight on what to expect, whether it would be beneficial to attend, and if so, how to plan it to make the most out of it. For those who have attended this year or in the past, is your experience similar? What were some of your key takeaways? What would you recommend for someone who will be attending for the first time? As always, please join the discussion, we would love to hear your thoughts! === **Podcast Intro** What do you get when you put three introverted photographers together? The National Park System recently updated its guideline on permits which now states: All commercial filming inside the National Park System requires a permit. Commercial filming means recording a movie image by a person, business, or other entity with the intent of generating income, specifically TikTok & Youtube. Upon hearing this update, we had a huge discussion in our group chat which we thought we should take to the podcast. We discuss a little bit of the history regarding permits, how it can differ among countries and places in the world, and our thoughts regarding the topic. Disclaimer: There is no right or wrong to this issue, things stated are just our opinions based on our experiences, we are all supportive of the NPS, and we all still love and support each other :) Are you pro or against permits? It clearly is not black and white, so what limits, exceptions, or requirements do you think should be put in place? We would love to hear your thoughts! === **Podcast Intro** What do you get when you put three introverted photographers together? A chit-chatty podcast of course! The topic of sales can sound daunting, foreign, and not something we signed up for when we decided to become photographers but it's something we use and incorporate whether or not we have our own businesses or not.  We as photographers are from so many different walks of life with varying experiences. We thought if we could bring value from our past and share it with fellow photographers, we would be more successful together. This is why we started this podcast and this community in the first place.  In this episode, Eugene is our educator! With his background in marketing and sales, Eugene takes us through some basic techniques and principles and guides us through this often intimidating subject.  Who knew that some of these we may see or use on a daily basis without knowing it? Do you use any of these in your workflow? Do you fall victim to any of these tactics used by other brands or companies? === **Podcast Intro** What do you get when you put three introverted photographers together? Engagement session season has officially arrived! All three of us fully support having engagement sessions. Why? Well listen to the episode and find out! We discuss anything and (almost) everything regarding engagement sessions, from the benefits of having them for both the client and photographer, the duration of the session our experiences, what we would recommend clients wear, and so much more. Our first listener suggestion and it's an important one. It's inevitable that will feel some sort of imposter syndrome, especially in the creative field of wedding photography. We define what imposter syndrome is, what the five different types are, whether we associate or suffer from any of the five types, our experiences with imposter syndrome, and how we overcome these feelings. An important discussion where simply sharing our thoughts and experiences can alleviate feelings of imposter syndrome, improve our connection and bring us closer.  You're not alone and we're here to support one another, no matter where you are in your journey.  === **Podcast Intro** What do you get when you put three introverted photographers together?
