Description

"I'm a mindset guy," I often tell people when describing the content of the podcast. During a Chats with Clark episode, we will engage a conversation about mindsets and ideas that actually matter in the world. The rationale behind our actions, the "why" in what we do, brings us together. It's those mindsets that affect our view of the world.

At the end of each episode, I hope that all of us are better than we were before thinking about the topics of that day. Thank you for tuning in!

"Be the good kind," we're advised in episode 88 of Chats with Clark, featuring the owner of GoodKind coffee Parker Bell and the operating partner Gabriel Miller. Together, the two have built a coffee shape in Lakewood, OH that serves as a staple in the community and beyond by delivering top tier products and excellent service. The pairing of coffee that everyone loves and a staff who works as "the good kind" has propelled GoodKind Coffee to the top of the list. Parker Bell shares that to be an entrepreneur, there is a certain risk tolerance necessary. Bell, personally analytical, urges all potential entrepreneurs to analyze what cost they are willing to risk, because every business has an entry cost. Bell is different than the "drop everything and go for it all" type of entrepreneur, though, because he uses entrepreneurship as a tool to bring joy into his life and subsidize his already-steady income. When I asked about the notion of choosing to be ready for an endeavor, Bell indicated that there is an inherent necessity of knowing oneself in order to choose to be ready. Miller doubled down by noting that one has to study and prepare, much like he has in the coffee world, to be able to execute on an opportunity. GoodKind Coffee has cemented itself as a favorite for the Cleveland community, and for good reason. Led by owner Parker Bell and operating partner Gabriel Miller, GoodKind creates an environment full of gracious, dedicated employees who provide excellent coffee and are visionaries with their craft. Episode 88 tells the tale of two gentlemen who keep aspiring, keep tinkering, so as to catalyze more growth and opportunities for themselves and the world around them. They are "the good kind," the kind who deliver on their products and as people, which is what they have passed onto their employees. Tune in for mindsets that are about commitment, dedication, and being inherently GOOD! Check out more from Parker Bell, Gabriel Miller, GoodKind Coffee, and Chats with Clark on social media by visiting the links below!Chats with ClarkGoodKind CoffeeParker BellGabriel Miller------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thank you for checking out episode 88 of the Chats with Clark Podcast! If there is any content that YOU would like to hear featured or would like to set up an interview time, email me your questions, thoughts, or ideas by emailing [email protected].
Episode 87 of Chats with Clark welcomes Lauren Nanni, a life coach and motivational speaker native to Cleveland, Ohio. Lauren specializes in helping those who feel stuck by not just making them "un-stuck," but also unstoppable! Lauren emphasizes the importance of noticing our habits and developing ones that are conducive to the life that we desire. Working with clients on betterment is a difficult task, given the inherent fragility of life, and that is also what makes it so valuable: we get one life. In the words of Lauren, "Imagine living a life that, at the end of it, we have to answer the question of why we lived someone else's life and not ours!" This notion drives Lauren to continually establish the life that she, too, desires; in essence, she walks the walk of her own coaching. Lauren prioritizes her routines and makes sure that she is physically challenging herself, mentally growing, and consuming media and content that enhances an aspect of her life in some way. Now, this is a journey. Lauren would be the first to tell you that this isn't immediate and also is a continual process. After rising, it's the getting back up again after an inevitable decline. Overcoming stagnancy is what Lauren prides herself on helping her clients to believe. Episode 87 is a reflective episode that will be one you replay as you continue your own journey of creating, becoming, and developing the life that you truly desire. Lauren has that infectious type of energy, and you are surely going to feel it in this episode, episode 87 Chats with Clark! Check out more from Lauren Nanni and Chats with Clark on social media by visiting the links below! Episode 86 of the Chats with Clark Podcast welcomes to the show Pete Nelson, an endurance athlete with many great accolades to his name; to Pete though, none even come close in importance to his family, friends, and his faith. Pete has a very basic principle that he applies to life and partnerships: "if I can't leave this person comfortably alone in a room with my wife and children, it's off." This principle speaks volumes to Pete's approach to life and work: it's family first. As the cofounder of SISU Sauna Company, Pete has scaled a business from not selling any saunas in over 18 months to the leader in the sauna industry. His partner Nick and he have brought on tremendous ambassadors that embrace the "SISU Lifestyle," which Pete strives to inspire others to do, ranging from NFL stars Bo Nix and Christian McCaffrey to bow hunter Cam Hanes and actor Chris Hemsworth, to name a few. For Pete, his dad taught him through example that we all can push past the initial barrier of wanting to give up for a significant amount of time (in essence, we are stronger than we think). Initially, Pete experienced this when his dad and he were on a run, Pete's first long-distance run at that, and his dad was outperforming him several miles in when Pete wanted to quit. The kicker, though, was that Pete finished the entire race, despite wanting to quit. We can keep going, even when we think we have reached our limit. This same reality is what helped the Nelson family through Pete Nelson, Sr.'s battle with cancer. A larger-than-life man, who smoked like a chimney and ran endless races, was forced to become feeble and battling for his life. Faith tested, Pete and his family worked through the battle together.Pete decided to go for a run on a hill that his dad and he used to run; expecting a few friends that he invited to join, Pete was surprised when a large crowd met him on that hill. This day became the first "Hell on Hogsback" race, a race that the Nelson Family Foundation now holds annually to raise funds for those battling cancer to receive treatment. Family, faith, and friends. It's consistent. Really, after this conversation with Pete, consistency is to be excepted, so this comes as no surprise. Episode 86 with Pete Nelson, Jr. is emotionally raw and is a deep dive into the mindsets needed to push back the barrier of when we want to give up. It's an immersion into the qualities that allow someone to be great in all facets that matter and to develop a life that allows that person to participate fully in what is important to them. Check out more from Pete Nelson and Chats with Clark on social media by visiting the links below!Chats with ClarkPete NelsonSISU Sauna & LifestyleHell on Hogsback ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thank you for checking out episode 86 of the Chats with Clark Podcast! If there is any content that YOU would like to hear featured or would like to set up an interview time, email me your questions, thoughts, or ideas by emailing [email protected]!
Episode 85 of Chats with Clark flips the script for Serena Winters, the beloved sideline reporter for the Cleveland Cavaliers, who typically can be seen interviewing players. Now, she sits on the other side of the microphone to share with us the commitment that she brings to each aspect of her life. "When I commit to something, I'm all in," contends Serena. Growing up in SoCal (Southern California), Serena was a devout Lakers fan and felt alive with a basketball in her hands. She knew from an early age that she wanted to stick around the basketball world, so during her time at UC Santa Barbara, she volunteered with any work she could revolving the Lakers, eventually playing a pivotal role in the founding and immense growth of the media outlet Lakers Nation.Serena never backed down from an industry that is cut-throat, intense, and, especially at the time, dominated by men. She prided herself on that commitment and made sure that she was always prepared. To Serena, she created her own "luck" by constantly putting herself out there and delivering the best that she could in each situation. From there, the opportunities kept coming. During this era, Serena was covering Lakers legends like Derek Fisher and the one and only Kobe Bryant. Throughout the tenure, Kobe and Serena became close. In fact, Serena looks back fondly at the memory of asking him his final post-game interview question ever. And then there was the time that Kobe backed Serena to a leader at Nike, noting how Serena is "good people" (trust us, you need to hear this story). After the difficult decision for a departure from LA, Serena popped into Philly for a few years, where her appreciation by the fans continued to blossom, embracing all of the Sixers notion of "trusting the process." Finally, Serena and her husband came to Cleveland for a weekend to check out the landscape, as she discerned to accept the role here in Cleveland. With snow in their boots and sickness in her husband, they managed to still fall in love (or at least maybe knew that they would). A Cali woman finding her home in Cleveland, where her husband and she have expanded their family to four, is probably not what young Serena had expected; however, Serena has embodied exactly what her younger self knew, which was to build a career in the basketball world.Episode 85 is a special one that dabbles the realms of basketball greats, repeats themes of dire persistency, and touches the heart with heavy emotions on all parts of the spectrum from loss to being a mother and a joy for the daily job. Serena Winters is someone who many know from her traditions with the team and exceptional on-air presence. Tune in to episode 85 of Chats with Clark to hear her in a depth that someone as great as Serena deserves. Check out more from Serena Winters and Chats with Clark on social media by visiting the links below!Chats with ClarkSerena Winters------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Thank you for checking out episode 85 of the Chats with Clark Podcast! If there is any content that YOU would like to hear featured or would like to set up an interview time, email me your questions, thoughts, or ideas by emailing [email protected]!
"I realize that I keep getting more confident in my craft, so that's how I know I'm always going to keep learning," notes the ever-curious Mike Miller, who joins Chats with Clark episode 84. As a renowned artist and tattooist, Mike has learned how to stay calm and prevent nerves when delivering products that are not only permanent, but a one-time opportunity. Owner and cofounder of Green Light Tattoo and Art Gallery, Mike explains why he loves being a tattooist and artist, as he brings beauty into the world. His brother Marcus and he have always competed in life. This competition has emerged into a robust partnership and relationship, allowing them to share the joy of the art world together at Green Light. Mike, deeply philosophical, looks deeply at the world and really analyzes what it means to be alive. As such, Mike recognizes that he is continually on a journey, developing into the best versions of himself more and more. With that growth into our authentic selves, Mike believes that we thrive. With his artwork collected and displayed by athletes, stars, apartment buildings, and museums (MGK, Terry Rozier, Marcus Smart, and the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland to name a few) around the world, Mike strives to eventually take his work globally. Episode 84 is about commitment: it's commitment to one's self and the ongoing best versions of one's self. It's the conviction in Mike to tattoo his face to show his dedication to the craft, never having another boss other than himself, and for literally being a billboard of the life that he chooses, creates, and embraces. Mike Miller is a pleasure of a human, and episode 84 highlights the golden mentalities that explain why.Check out more from Mike Miller and Chats with Clark on social media by visiting the links below!
