what a great interview
Plenty of us at the front of this wave and gathering swell. Working with the planet, not against it. A no brainer.
Kate Raworth, through this podcast and her book, Doughnut Economics, tells us what we really should know, namely that we are using the Earth's resources unsustainably and that unless we change the world economic and political systems the result will be disastrous for human life and the planet. The problem is, as pointed out by the interviewers, that neither we nor the politicians are yet willing to do anything about it fearing unpopularity and loss of power. Her solution is to wean ourselves away from GDP growth as the measure of economic success towards living in more locally accountable, sustainable societies. She points to Amsterdam, Copenhagen and Glasgow as examples of cities where her approach is being tried. Raworth's assurance is that change can and must be made. Can we do it?
The road to peace will always have to include both participants in any conflict.. As a Irish Republican I'd welcome a unified Ireland that was inclusive and respectful of all cultures within that island... We have more in common than we have which divides us... Biggest threat to our people now is cost of living increases and uncaring government policies that keep us in a constant state of distress.
