I’m going to be taking a short hiatus. My personal life has gotten complicated and busy. Have no fear I will be back with a whole new format to better serve all my amazing listeners! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
Today, I had a thought that I'd like to discuss: could the ego play a significant role in fueling feelings of anger, violence, and the desire for control? Recently, I've been delving into the Buddhist viewpoint on topics such as the ego, self, and compassion, and I wanted to share my insights on this topic. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
The United States is grappling with a surge of mass shootings, and many lawmakers are calling for stricter gun control measures. However, I believe that the root of the problem lies in a mental health crisis, rather than simply the accessibility of firearms. With the compounding stressors of economic hardship, global terrorism, the housing market crash, and rising costs across the board, it's no wonder that so many individuals are struggling to maintain their emotional and mental well-being. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
Making a request of another person can be challenging. There are so many different ways to approach requests. My favorite comes from Nonviolent Communication by Marshall Rosenberg. Feelings List Needs List --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
I absolutely love Wisdom.app in the morning. As I sat to listen to some very wise people answer great questions, I came across one that triggered my own subconscious. A great question can lead to some deep insight. If you have not had the chance check out the app. No, they didn't sponsor this bonus episode, sadly. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
My wife loves reality television. She will sit and watch other people and I never understood why. She enjoys watching people be themselves. To hear her talk about reality TV one would think it was an art form of human interaction. I can see what she means now. There are many lessons to learn there. The most recent one I saw was how the vulnerability is scary and misunderstood. Real connection and openness can be confusing but necessary experience. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
I have found that there is a need for quiet, alone time. It has a way to help us better relate to our emotional selves. Meditation is a must for me. Take some time to get in your own head and get past all the distractions. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
I have dealt with anger for years. However, recently depression and anxiety have taken a stronghold over my mind. There is a great deal of research that suggests depression is often anger turned inward. In other words, my depression could be a symptom of anger at myself. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
Sorry for the missed week, but honestly it will happen here from time to time. As I work on my own emotional and mental health I am gonna have time when my mind screams for “different”. Intent vs. Impact

Intent vs. Impact

It is a heavily debated question in my home, what is more important intent or impact? I have spent a great deal of time reflecting on this. It seems that there may not be a correct answer. And that drives me crazy! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
Dysfunctional You

Dysfunctional You

I love music. It has a way to speak to our subconscious. There is almost a magical quality when I find the right song and it hits the right emotional spot. Shinedown has a song called “Dysfunctional You” that has been my anthem lately. I think we all can learn to accept the dysfunctional, broken, confused, or whatever us. Then break the cycle of anger, shame, and violence. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message

Good Grief, Maybe

Grief is a very powerful and scary emotion. It can stop us in our tracks. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
It can be almost impossible to verbalize how I feel when anger or anxiety overwhelms my mind. The want is there it just seems the words fail me. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
Well not really but kinda, sorta. Ok so it’s like a new language in that it will take time and a great deal of effort to learn this language. Now for the best part, to be successful you need to learn two new languages, your own and your partners. Don’t fret, we will do this together. It really is not as overwhelming as it seems. One step, one idea, one moment at at time. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
While teaching I heard from both men and women how complicated their partner is. It seems that we all what to believe that we are simple to please but our partner is so challenging. Why? Don’t we all want the same thing, happiness. Stop trying to be big or showy with your intimacy and just be you. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
It has taken me a very long time to realize the importance of my own words. The idea is to acknowledge your emotions when they arise. Accept them as normal and natural. Then be willing to let them go. It sounds so easy, doesn't it? Yeah, it's not. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
When anger is used as a weapon it seems so powerful. There is a fine line between a weapon and a tool. They both have their purpose and place. Just be careful not to mix them up. Today I try to untangle, just a bit, the difference and why it's so important to keep it in mind. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
Cry Tough or Cry Hard

Cry Tough or Cry Hard

2023-01-2502:28

Why can’t it be strong for men to cry? Men need to embrace their full emotional capacity. After a very difficult week in my personal life, I feel at my emotional end. Tears seem to be an oddly satisfying release valve. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
When I say violence it is a huge umbrella term. There is a whole list of actions, consequences, threats, or whatever that was never helpful to anyone. But no matter how hard we try the list is never complete. There must be another way to look at violence. That is what we are doing in this episode. A new definition to improve our understanding. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
After I gave you that new definition of anger I'm sure that there are questions. After all, it is an unusual way to look at such a well-known emotion. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/aboutanger/message
