This week on the Dog Show Drive There are certain people in the dog show world whose names become part of history. Andrew Brace is certainly one of them. This week, Will and Y reflect on Andrew’s remarkable career as he steps away from the judging ring. A career filled with wonderful dogs, memorable moments, and a lifetime of contributions to the sport we all love.
Then, we head out of the show ring and into the great outdoors as we continue our journey through performance sports. This weeks destination? Pointing Breed Field Trials! Where good dogs, keen noses, an the occasional uncooperative bird reminds us that Mother Nature doesn’t always follow a rile book.
All that and more, with a few stories and wrong turns on this weeks Dog Show Drive

This week on the Dog Show Drive, we begin with something nobody particularly enjoys, admitting we may have gotten a few things wrong. Yes, we have a couple corrections from last week.
Then, Will opens the file marked “ Things that grind my gears” and shares a few incidents from the other side of the ring markers. We continue our look at performance sports, and this week we’re heading to the great outdoors to explore field testing, where instinct, training, and a dog’s natural ability all come together. And finally we dust off the 1919 Kennel And Bench and discover some advertisements that were considered perfectly acceptable more than a century ago.
Corrections, confessions, field dogs, and 107 year old advertising All that and more on this week’s Dog Show Drive!
This week on the Dog Show Drive, we’re putting on a few miles. First stop the legendary Montgomery County Kennel Club, quite simply the greatest terrier show on earth. We will take a look at the weekend, the dogs, and just how well the Canadians fared south of the border. Then we point the van west to Calgary for the Canadian Dog Judges Association Conference, where we discovered something rather surprising, judges don’t just gather to socialize. Apparently, there’s learning involved too. And finally, we crack open Kennel and Bench for an update on those very wealthy canines, the dogs who discovered that sometimes being a good boy really does pay off. All that, a few opinions, and probably a detour or two, on this week’s Dog Show Drive.
This week on the Dog Show Drive, we’re taking a road trip. The team points the van east and takes a trip down to Cross Creek New Brunswick, for the CKC National Dog Show, where there are plenty of dogs, plenty of stories, and probably at least one conversation that begins with “ You’re not going to believe what happened…”We’ll also explore even more performance sports you and your dog can try, because apparently walking around a show ring was only the beginning. And in Kennel and Bench, we dig up a story that proves sometimes a dog can really have it’s day. Stray dogs inherit a fortune!Dogs, driving, dog shows, and a little unexpected wealth. All that and more, this week on The Dog Show Drive!!
This week on the Dog Show Drive, we take another trip down that wonderfully unpredictable road known as the dog show world. We start with listener email that gave us a good laugh, and, as the best emails usually do, gave us plenty to talk about.
Then we wander beyond the conformation ring to explore the many performance events offered by the CKC. Because sometimes our dogs would like us to know they are capable of doing considerably more than standing still looking handsome.
We also turn back the clock to 1970 and open up an old Kennel and Bench and visit the Purina Hall of Fame , celebrating some remarkable dogs and the stories that earned them a place in Canadian dog history!A little history, a little education, a few laughs and a detour or two
All that and more on this weeks Dog Show Drive.
