Jesus had to become human to save us and become a merciful and faithful high priest who helps His people.
Since God’s message through angels was binding, how much more God’s salvation in Jesus.
The OT proves that Jesus is superior to angels, for the Son was appointed to rule but angels were created to serve.
The Psalm provide a template to engage with God. In our engagement we affirm who God is and remind ourselves of his continuing faithfulness.
David exemplifies the right response to sin: a plea for mercy based on God’s compassion; a conviction God’s verdict is right; a desire to be restored and sustained; a contrition that is the bedrock to righteousness and  acceptable sacrifice.
The Babylonian exile is prophesied because of Hezekiah’s pride. The humility of Jesus draws people to himself.
God’s answer to Hezekiel’s prayer is more than he asks (cf. Eph 3:20ff).
Hezekiah's faith in God is vindicated. Jerusalem is saved. The bully is defeated. We too can trust God.
Hezekiah is faced with a history defining moment. Should he give in to the Assyrian bully or should he trust God to intervene and save his people.
God is praised for his faithfulness in judging and saving, which is ultimately fulfilled on the cross of Christ.
God’s righteous judgment on the whole earth is going to affect everyone. It’s going to be devasting. It will come a point in time when it’s too late to call out to God. So, now’s the time of salvation.
God’s judgment on Egypt will be extensive, but there will come a day when even the Egyptians will be sent a Saviour so that they can be God’s people along with Judah. This is a prophecy that looks forward to the fulfilment of the Abrahamic covenant through Jesus who draws all nations to himself.
Isaiah prophesies Babylon’s destruction, as representative of all cities/nations that oppose God and his kingdom. Only the kingdom that Jesus establishes will endure forever.
Saul’s death was good news to God’s enemies, while Jesus’ death is good news to those who believe in him
After David returns to God, he responds with outrageous generosity. When Jesus returned to God, he distributed his grace to his church (Eph 4:1ff).
Even though David wasn’t faultless, God saved him from himself. Jesus is faultless and saves us from ourselves.
David reaches breaking point and gives way to fear. But when Jesus was sweating blood, he turned to God in prayer (Luke 22:44)
David’s road to kingship was difficult but certain, as it was with Jesus who was betrayed and crucified.
David’s actions were so righteous and faithful that Saul couldn’t help himself but praise him. Jesus is righteous and faithful and deserves our praise.
David rightly refused to take a shortcut to kingship. Jesus likewise refused when tempted by Satan in the wilderness (Matt 4).
