Ep 278: Highgate Cemetery

2023-12-2901:48:51

Blurry Photober is late this year, but David is back with an episode all about Highgate Cemetery! An incredible feat of gothic greatness, Highgate Cemetery has an interesting history and hauntings to boot. David had the fortune to take a tour of the Grade I historic location, and also interviewed the tour guide, John Waite. John and David go over the history of the cemetery, including its inception, how it fell to disrepair, and how it was revived. David then gets into the history of the hauntings which are said to happen. Mysterious top-hatted figures, forlorn spectres, and rumors of vampires have plagued the boneyard for decades. David discusses these stories as well as the infamous occultist feud between David Farrant and Sean Manchester. Take a history-heavy tour of a hauntingly beautiful location in this episode of Blurry Photos!Follow me on Twitch!MusicDanse Macabre, Lightless Dawn, Ossuary 5 - Rest, Phantasm, Zombie Hoodoo – Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 3.0SourcesJarvis, Jacob. David is back with the conclusion of the Devil and the history attached to him! Covering other cultures, names, looks, and breakdowns of the info, the Devil gets fleshed out and examined in great detail. We pick back up with various forms of Evil in other cultures through history. Then many of the countless names of this entity are dissected and examined, paying careful attention to the origins of each. The several iterations of looks are discussed after that. And finally the episode concludes with analysis of the research and how it has influenced cultures through the ages. What was the actual purpose of this being? How has it evolved? And what conclusions can you draw from the information? David ends with opinion based on the facts, and encourages you to take a thoughtful examination of them for yourself. It's the finish of one of the biggest episodes in Blurry Photos history, one that hopefully teaches you something new and gives you perspective you never knew you were missing! Flora begins an epic deep dive into the history of the Devil with the first of a 2-part episode! Known the world over as the arch-fiend of all that is good, the Devil enjoys a sinister reputation, but is it truly deserved? Join David on a journey through history as he presents his research on this figure of malevolence. In part 1, David begins with the earliest mentions of Satan, including cultural inspirations. Both the Old and New Testaments of the Christian Bible are referenced as well as Hebrew scriptures and apocrypha not included in the Biblical canon. Ancient mythologies of Sumer, Babylon, and Persian Zoroastrianism are explored for their evil figures. And Jason from the Dragons in Genesis podcast joins to offer perspective throughout. Part 2 will explore evil in other cultures around the world, the many names of Satan and their origins, his looks, and conclusions which can be drawn from the information. Hammer did not just make horror movies. On the busses was a hammer movie. The company was founded in the 1930s and specialised in making film versions of radio shows like pc99 and bulldog Drummond. Their first attempt at horror the quatermass experiment twenty years after they were first founded. Their largest out put was short information films like the joy of yoga

its crazy how much the other David carried this podcast. I dont find many comedians very funny but Stecco makes me literally belly laugh multiple times per episode. I mean Flora is Ok but the podcast is boring AF without Stecco. at the time of this writing i have just found out and just downloaded the "trolls" episode where stecco i guess says why hes leaving but i havent listened yet, just FYI. but the chemistry and comraderiry those two shared is certainly missed. though ive literally only been binge listening for less than a month

You need to differentiate between the "this doesn't make sense" and"the moon is fake" theorists. Calling people science deniers stops any conversation before it begins.

These concepts and theories about conspiracy theorists are literally being substantiated by the same lame brained, biased thinking that the worst of conspiracy theorists subscribe to. Labeling, segregating, reduction, and an innate distrust in the information from an anecdotal perspective. Seriously.. listen to this guy's words. He buys into more generalizations than any flat hollow earth reptilian subscriber. Even David friggin Icke could give this dude some humility. This solves nothing. This disputes nothing. This is more of an opinion than any cuneiform tablet translation could generate. This entire conversation can be reduced to 2 people who pretend to dig deep but accept the regulated sandbox as real.

I hope he's got something with a bit more meat to it planned. The round tables, interviews and Miss Cryptid stuff is fun and all but itcomes across as one podcast interviewing another podcast about podcasting. Too much of that stuff gets old quick. I very much prefer when he does a proper dig into a story or event and gives us the details.
