Are you a busy pregnant or postpartum (once postpartum always postpartum) mom that just wants to feel strong and healthy without the stress of having to revolve your life around your diet and exercise? Wanting functional and practical strategies to get in safe and effective exercises without fear of pain, prolapse or peeing your pants? All during your normal daily routines? Are you wanting to stay active and comfortable during your pregnancy, and avoid many of the common aches and pains? While also prepping and optimizing your mind and body for a beautiful birthing experience? Ready to feel confident navigating postpartum recovery, being in-tune to your body, it’s boundaries to activity and avoiding common issues like diastasis recti (DRA), prolapse, and urinary incontinence (leaking)?

Hey Momma!

I’m Dr. Desiree Cassell, a Doctor of Physical Therapy that specializes in Women’s Health aka Pelvic Floor, a wife, mom of 3, foodie and lover of all things movement and mindfulness (bonus if it’s outdoors)! I can’t tell you how excited I am that you are here checking out The Balanced Momtality Women’s Health and Wellness Podcast! During my first pregnancy I experienced all the typical issues like DRA, urinary incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse (POP) and even hemorrhoids 😳. Only to be told “welcome to #momlife” by society and other moms in my life. So, like you, I accepted it as “normal”. Then, while working for my Doctor of Physical Therapy, I got pregnant with my second (still dealing with all the same issues and more 6 yrs later) and decided to put my new found knowledge to the test. YOU GUYS I was able to not only stop my urinary incontinence and prolapse from getting worse, I STOPPED LEAKING AND FEELING SYMPTOMS ALL TOGETHER!

This is when my passion for educating, empowering and supporting other women and moms was born. I just knew I had to shout it from the rooftops that all those “common” symptoms ARE NOT NORMAL! You do not have to suffer and there IS HELP! Unfortunately, I brought all these issues up to my providers during my first pregnancy, only to be brushed off and told to do kegels and exercise. With that advice, I kegeld my life away and took a Pilates class postpartum that actually turned my DRA into an umbilical hernia and caused pain with intercourse because kegels were actually the opposite of what my pelvic floor needed (more on that inside the podcast 😉).

Inside this podcast you will learn all about the pelvic floor and core system, common dysfunctions within the system during pregnancy and postpartum (and in general), how to connect and be aware of your body’s limits and how to SAFELY push those limits so you can be the strong, confident, and happy balanced momma you and your family deserve! Now let’s get you out of those pads and back to jumping on the trampoline with your kids and enjoying movement again!

Put those airpods in, grab your water, roll out your mat and let’s connect!

Do you ever catch yourself holding your breath when you're concentrating? Clenching your butt while driving? Sucking in your stomach without even realizing it? And then think… “WAIT. How long have I been doing that?!” 😂 Here's the thing: We ALL have automatic habits and movement patterns. And they're not necessarily bad. Your body is constantly adapting to your daily life, whether you're lifting your kids, sitting at your desk, working out, navigating stress, or rushing through your never-ending to-do list. But sometimes the strategies we use without thinking are worth exploring—especially when we're experiencing pelvic floor symptoms, tension, discomfort, or difficulty connecting with our bodies. In this episode of Pelvic Floor, Core & More, we're talking about the everyday patterns you might not even realize you're using, why your body develops them, and how to explore more options without turning your pelvic floor into another thing you have to obsess over. Because your habits aren't necessarily the problem. But understanding your patterns can help you discover what else is possible. 💛 In This Episode We Explore Why pelvic floor health is about more than what happens during workouts or Kegel exercises. How everyday habits, stress, and movement demands may influence the way your body feels and functions. Common automatic patterns like breath-holding, abdominal gripping, glute clenching, and constantly trying to engage your core. Why these strategies aren't automatically wrong—and why your body may have developed them in the first place. The difference between a useful movement strategy and one that might be worth exploring when symptoms are present. Why more effort, more squeezing, or more rules aren't always the answer. How to recognize when your body might benefit from more movement and breathing options. A simple experiment to help you notice your own habits without judging or micromanaging yourself.   🌿 Ready to Explore What This Actually Feels Like in YOUR Body? Maybe you're listening to this episode thinking… “Okay, Dr. Des. I definitely recognize some of these habits. But how do I know what they're actually doing in MY body?” Or maybe you've learned a lot about pelvic floor health, breathing, core connection, and pressure management, but you're still not sure how to apply that information to yourself. That's exactly why I created RECONNECT: Your First Healing Session. RECONNECT isn't another masterclass to sit through or a giant workout program to complete. It's a guided, self-paced experience where I'll walk you through exploring: 🌿 Your lifestyle + habits — how your everyday life fits into the bigger picture. 🫁 Your core + breath — what you notice when you breathe and explore different strategies. 🌊 Your brace + pressure — how your body responds when effort increases. 🏃‍♀️ Your movement + posture — how different options can change your experience. 🧩 Your body patterns — how to begin connecting the dots between everything you've noticed. My goal isn't for you to finish with another list of things you're doing wrong. It's for you to have a moment where you think: “WHOA. I can actually feel what's happening in MY body.” And maybe even… “I finally feel hopeful that my body can change.” RECONNECT is officially LIVE! 🎉 Join me inside the Pelvic Floor, Core & More app for RECONNECT: Your First Healing Session. 👉 [CHECK OUT THE RECONNECT EXPERIENCE →] And no, you don't have to complete Healing Beyond Kegels first! Have you ever felt heaviness, fullness, or pressure in your pelvis during a workout, after being on your feet all day, or while lifting something heavy? And immediately wondered… “Wait, is this normal? Is something falling out? Am I doing something wrong?!” 😅 Here's something I want you to know: Pressure isn't automatically bad. Your body actually NEEDS pressure to move, lift, breathe, and function. But not all sensations of pelvic pressure mean the same thing. In this episode of Pelvic Floor, Core & More, we're breaking down the difference between normal pressure during movement and symptoms that might be related to pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic venous disorders (sometimes called pelvic congestion syndrome), pelvic floor muscle tension, or other factors. We'll also talk about why you don't necessarily need to stop exercising when you notice pressure—and how to start exploring what your body might need instead. Because the goal isn't to eliminate pressure or fear movement. It's to understand what you're feeling and learn how to respond. 💛 In This Episode We Explore Why intra-abdominal pressure is a normal and necessary part of breathing, lifting, and exercise. The difference between pressure inside your abdomen and sensations of pelvic heaviness, fullness, or discomfort. How pelvic organ prolapse can contribute to feelings of heaviness, bulging, or pressure. What pelvic venous disorders (PeVD) are and why they can sometimes cause deep pelvic aching or heaviness. How pelvic floor muscle tension or difficulty relaxing can contribute to pelvic discomfort and pressure sensations. Why pelvic pressure doesn't automatically mean you have a weak pelvic floor—or that you need more Kegels. How breathing, bracing, exercise intensity, fatigue, and daily habits can influence symptoms. Simple ways to explore movement modifications without avoiding exercise altogether. When recurring or worsening pelvic pressure deserves an individualized evaluation. Why This Matters So many women are told to either strengthen their pelvic floor, relax it, or avoid activities that create pressure. But what if we're asking the wrong question? Instead of “How do I stop creating pressure?” we can start asking: **“What am I actually feeling, and what might be contributing to it?” A sensation of heaviness during exercise doesn't automatically mean you're damaging your pelvic floor. And pelvic pressure isn't always caused by prolapse. Different symptoms can have different contributing factors, which is why understanding the bigger picture matters. You deserve more than a one-size-fits-all answer—and you shouldn't have to be afraid of movement to take care of your body. 🌿 Ready to Better Understand Your Body? If this episode has you wondering how your breath, core, pelvic floor, pressure, and movement work together, I'd love to guide you through exploring those connections. You understand that your breath, core, pelvic floor, pressure, and movement are connected. But can you actually FEEL what's happening in your own body? In this episode, Dr. Des explores the difference between knowing information about your body and developing connection with YOUR body—and why body awareness shouldn't become another thing you have to perform perfectly. In This Episode We Explore Why knowing anatomy isn't the same as knowing your body What “connection” actually means Why “I don't feel anything” can still be useful information How body awareness accidentally becomes another pass/fail test Why your body's strategy may change depending on the task The difference between finding the “right” strategy and developing options How awareness can eventually create MORE confidence and LESS overthinking The simple Notice → Change → Notice Again experiment Why This Matters You can consume endless information about pelvic floor health and still wonder: “But what does any of this mean for ME?” Connection helps bridge that gap. Not by teaching you to obsess over every sensation—but by helping you recognize patterns, experiment with options, and build confidence responding to your own body. Connection isn't finding the correct sensation. It's learning to recognize your own experience. Ready to Experience It in YOUR Body? If you understand some of these concepts but still find yourself wondering what they actually feel like in YOUR body, meet: RECONNECT: Your First Healing Session. 🌿 This guided experience helps you explore your lifestyle, breath + core, brace + pressure, movement + posture, and body patterns—without turning your body into another test you need to pass. Healing Beyond Kegels is officially LIVE! 🎉 But why did Dr. Des create another pelvic floor resource when there's already SO much information out there? Because more information isn't necessarily what women need. In this episode, Dr. Des explores why pelvic floor health has become so confusing, what gets missed when symptoms are reduced to exercises, and why understanding your body may be a better place to start than searching for the “perfect” exercise. In This Episode We Explore Why more pelvic floor information doesn't always create more clarity How symptoms get oversimplified into exercise prescriptions Why the pelvic floor can't be understood in isolation How overthinking breathing, bracing, posture, and movement can actually decrease confidence Why the same symptom doesn't automatically mean the same solution The shift from immediately fixing your body to getting curious about it Why Dr. Des created the free Healing Beyond Kegels masterclass Why This Matters Pelvic floor education should help you feel more confident in your body—not more afraid of doing something wrong. When you understand how the pieces of your body interact, exercises and recommendations can start having context instead of feeling like another random thing to try. The Big Takeaway Before asking: “What exercise should I do?” Try asking: “What am I noticing—and what changes when I change something?” Understanding doesn't mean you'll never need strengthening. It means strengthening finally has context. Ready to Understand the Bigger Picture? Healing Beyond Kegels is now available FREE inside the Pelvic Floor, Core & More app! 🎉 Come learn how your pelvic floor, core, breath, pressure, movement, and symptoms fit into a bigger picture—and try the Connection Experiment for yourself. 👉 [WATCH HEALING BEYOND KEGELS FREE] Connection First. You leak? Must be your pelvic floor. Your back hurts? Must be your back. Your hip hurts? Work on your hip. Your core feels weak? Better do some abs. But what if we've been zooming in so far on individual symptoms and body parts that we're missing the bigger picture? Your body doesn't actually live in separate little boxes. Your pelvic floor is responding while you breathe, move, lift, walk, exercise, go to the bathroom, manage stress, and live your actual life. So in this episode of Pelvic Floor, Core & More, we're zooming OUT. We're talking about why the location of a symptom doesn't always tell us the entire story, what happens when we start looking for relationships instead of isolated problems, and why another random exercise from Instagram might not be the missing piece you've been searching for. Because sometimes the problem isn't that you haven't found the right exercise. You may be missing the context that makes the exercise make sense. In This Episode We Explore Why we tend to think about our bodies as separate parts The difference between where you feel a symptom and the bigger picture surrounding it Why your pelvic floor doesn't work independently from the rest of your body How changing one thing can sometimes change something somewhere else What your breath, movement, tension, symptoms, and daily habits may reveal when we look at them together Why noticing relationships can give us useful information without automatically telling us the “cause” Why random exercises can leave you feeling even MORE confused The difference between collecting exercises and understanding what your body needs Why context matters when deciding what movement, exercise, or strategy may be appropriate The question that can help you start looking at your symptoms differently Why This Matters We separate the body into categories because it helps us study, teach, diagnose, and treat different conditions. But your body doesn't experience your day as a collection of specialties. Your body doesn't say: “Oh, sorry. This is a hip problem. Pelvic floor, you can clock out.” 😂 Everything is happening inside one person. And that means sometimes it's helpful to zoom out. Maybe changing how you breathe changes the pressure you feel. Maybe your symptoms are different when you're exhausted. Maybe changing your position changes what you feel. Maybe constipation affects your pelvic floor symptoms. Maybe you stop gripping during a movement and suddenly it feels completely different. None of those observations automatically gives us a diagnosis. But they do give us information. And when one thing changes and something else responds, that relationship may be worth getting curious about. 🌿 Ready to Finally Connect the Dots? Over the past few weeks, I've been asking you to get curious about your body. We've talked about symptoms. We've talked about posture and movement. We've talked about bladder changes. We've talked about strength. We've talked about what it actually means to listen to your body. And maybe you're finally getting a little annoyed with me and thinking: “Okay, Dr. Des. I GET IT. There's more to this…but HOW does it all fit together?!” 😂 Perfect. Because that's exactly where I wanted us to get. Healing Beyond Kegels is almost here. This FREE pelvic floor masterclass is where we're going to start connecting those dots—your pelvic floor, core, breath, pressure, and movement—so you can begin seeing the bigger picture of what's happening in YOUR body. Not so you can become a pelvic floor expert. Not so you have another giant list of things you need to fix. But so you can finally have that moment of: “OH. My body finally makes more sense.” Healing Beyond Kegels launches next week. 💛 It's time to stop guessing and start understanding. Connection First. Intention Over Perfection.   Want More Support?
