Description

Welcome to BLOOD / FLOW. I'm Jonathan Hammel, a physician specialized in blood circulation, based in Paris. I'm also a novelist, with a new book about a forgotten story about World War 2 in the works.
I've always been fascinated by the "flow state", this state where time flies and we are lost in our work and creativity.
On this podcast, through conversations with world class experts in the worlds of art and science, we will explore the hidden links between the rythm of creativity and the pulse of life.

My guest today is Jenny CLARKE. Jenny, alongside her daughter Emilia, is the founder of the charity “SameYou”. What sparked the creation of this charity is the fact that Emilia, an actress widely recognized for her role as Daenerys Targaryen in the hit TV show “GOT”, suffered an ABI, an Acquired Brain Injury, at the age of 23, without prior knowledge of any existing medical condition. Emilia went through another life-threatening situation when a second brain aneurysm was operated on a few years later in the US, after a routine checkup had showed an aggravation. Having been exposed both to the reality of brain injury and to that of the medical systems of the UK and the US, Emilia and Jenny decided to start a charity, not only to give back, but also to improve things for people all around the world suffering from ABI, using different routes, which we will explore in a few minutes. It is estimated that 1 out of 3 people will experience an ABI in the course of their lifetime, and very often at a young age and without prior medical conditions. So, very important work indeed. Hébergé par Ausha. Visitez ausha.co/politique-de-confidentialite pour plus d'informations.
