The descent down a mountain is often more dangerous than the climb to the summit. There is, of course, a metaphor for leadership and your career here and to explain how that fits together, I'm joined by my next guest, James Miller II. James tells us about his journey from a farm in Indiana to successful CEO and board advisor. We talk about embracing failures, the loneliness that comes with leadership, the need for genuine relationships outside of work, the emotional toll of leadership and the necessity of prioritising personal well-being and relationships. We also hear about his book, 'The Silent Summit,' which addresses the loneliness at the top, comparing leadership challenges with mountain climbing and introduces James's five R framework: reflect, reconnect, replenish, reframe, and rebuild. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. What are some of the warning signs that you can be looking out for as a leader that your people maybe aren't doing so well? What can you reasonably do to support the health and wellness of those people that you lead? This week my guest is Vicky Midwood, human performance strategist and creator of the Whole Human Method, helping business owners and leaders to understand how their body, brain, identity and behaviour affect how they live and how they lead. We'll be talking about Vicky's journey from fitness instructor to business owner, from addiction to rehab to the work that she does today. And of course we discuss leadership and management practices too, how this feeds into wellness at work and what leaders can be doing to support their teams in this area. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk. Why might it be a good idea to think twice before you have that breakfast beer at the airport on a business trip? Or avoid the glass of wine the night before a big presentation? And how that extrapolates to an alcohol free life and the performance advantage you could gain are the central topic this week as I'm joined by founder of Clear Edge 90, Fred Auzenne, to share his journey from counterintelligence in the US Army to performance coach, what he's learned about the impact of alcohol on your life/performance in his 44 years sobriety, what self-leadership looks like, the value of community in leadership and the need for authenticity. My guest on Leading with Integrity this week is Peter Boolkah, Coach, Bestselling Author and creator of The Hamster Wheel Trap®. Accountability is a word we throw around a lot in leadership and management, but few of us stop to think about what it actually means and how it looks when we get it right (although it's pretty easy to identify what it doesn't look like...). This week on Leading with Integrity I'm joined by Marc 'M.K.' Hoffman, author of 'Rant: The true story of one individual's campaign against the big banks in an attempt to save the world's economy'. We'll be talking about what it takes to speak up when powerful systems fail, Marc's long (9-year!) effort to challenge what he saw as unethical practices behind the financial crisis of 2008 and the leadership lessons he took from it. Such as: act with integrity, keep going when progress is slow, remember that one person CAN make a difference. Thanks for listening/watching this episode of Leading with integrity: Leadership talk.
