This episode is about wheelchair transfers for people with Cerebral Palsy. This episode outlines some of the issues that people with Cerebral Palsy face when preforming wheelchair transfers for day-to-day tasks
This episode discuses pain and living with pain as a result of living with Cerebral Palsy. Pain is an everyday fact of life and that is even more so when it comes to people with disabilities like Cerebral Palsy. Pain sucks and is annoying but managing the pain is key to living a full and happy life with Cerebral PalsyReferenced Article: Cerebral Palsy and Pain (https://www.cerebralpalsyguidance.com/cerebral-palsy/associated-disorders/pain/)Referenced Article: Pain Management (https://www.cerebralpalsy.org/information/pain-management)
Todays episode is about disability and depression; coping skills and how pets can play a role. Depression is a very serious condition and I felt it was something that had to be discussed because it is prominate in the Cerebral Palsy and general disability community. This podcast and episode are NOT meant to take the place of medical professionals or medical advice. If you are actively stuggling with depression for any reason lean on your support system and consider seeking advice from a licensed medical professional. This episode is intended solely to be educational and shine a light on the link between disability and depression, and to provide some coping skills I have learned presonally as someone with a disability that also stuggles with depression. Always remember you are strong and importantant and dealing with depression is a continuous battle. Like the old saying goes it's a marathon not a sprint.Referenced Article Credit: https://fpg.unc.edu/sites/fpg.unc.edu/files/resources/other-resources/NCODH_Depression.pdf
