EPISODE RELEASED EARLY BEFORE ELECTION! Church and politics is a risky subject. But today we're going there with the SPD's fearless legal representative Igor Radonjic. What is the landscape of religious freedom in Australia and the South Pacific? And how can we practise Christian principles in the ballot box? This is one conversation you don't want to miss. Join us for #RecordLive every Wednesday at 4pm (AEDT), and Friday mornings as a podcast.  Read Igor's article: https://record.adventistchurch.com/2025/04/28/salt-light-and-the-ballot-box-how-should-christians-vote-in-election-season/
Did you know the longest serving editor of Adventist Record was a woman, named Anna Hindson? Do you know when the letters section started letting people have contrary opinions? And why? You're about the find out. Adventist Record is a hungry beast, with deadlines rolling around week to week. In this episode we meet some of the editors that have made Record what it is today and some of the changes that have been made from those early days.
The Seventh-day Adventist Church in the South Pacific (SPD) was established by mission minded people and printing and sharing their faith was a key part of that strategy. We join Dr Barry Oliver, former SPD president, as he takes us through some of that history and how Adventist Record has played a part. #RecordLive Wednesdays 4pm, podcast Friday mornings.
"In my life, it’s often my own hubris that brings me into the desert place. And when confronted with the results of my own choices, sometimes all we can do is reach out to God." The Bible is filled with wilderness experiences, where characters find a moment of testing, growth or trial in the desert. But God promises to bring up springs in the desert. Our guest, Jesse Herford, associate editor of Signs of the Times magazine and pastor, reflects with us on the wilderness experiences of our lives, how God has used those (or what good He can bring out of them) and whether or not He leads us there to teach us lessons. #RecordLive Wednesdays 4pm, podcast Fridays.Read the article here: https://record.adventistchurch.com/2025/03/26/rivers-in-the-desert/
In a world where trust in business, government and the media is diminishing, how can Christians cut through the noise and build meaningful connections? One answer is the power of authentic stories. Jarrod and Zanita discuss authenticity and how it changed Jarrod's life. #RecordLive Wednesdays 4pm, podcast Friday mornings.
In this episode, we chat with Enno Mueller, News and Communication director for the Adventist Review, Adventism's flagship publication. The Adventist Review has a storied history—launched by James White in 1849, before the Seventh-day Adventist Church was organised. But why does the church need news, and why should you submit and share your own local church news with others? #RecordLive Wednesdays 4pm, Podcast Friday mornings.
Prayer is one of those disciplines that is expected of a Christian. It is always the right answer for what we might need more of to get more spiritual. But Paul's injunction is to pray without stopping. Is it even possible? Or was he exaggerating? On this episode of #RecordLive we look at prayer in new and old ways and as always, we get practical. Wednesdays 4pm and podcast Friday mornings.
Have you hear about Third Culture Kids? They grow up in a culture that is not their own, often in missionary families, leading to feelings of dislocation and isolation. In this episode we speak with a TCK about the experience, how it has shaped her identity and how she has navigated finding "home". #RecordLive Wednesdays 4pm, Podcasts Friday mornings.
In a world of swipes and clicks, how do we connect with something greater? This episode unpacks how technology is reshaping faith—from prayer apps to online communities, AI-driven content, and the Holy Spirit in digital spaces. Is tech deepening our spiritual lives or just adding noise? Let’s explore. #RecordLive Wednesdays 4pm, Friday morning podcast.Digital discipleship: https://digitaldiscipleship.au/
#RecordLive family, we're back for 2025. Many people approach the Bible as a step-by-step guide, but was it designed that way? We examine the purpose of the Bible, how to read it responsibly and how NOT to read it. We also explore the question of what to do when the Bible doesn't answer the questions you have or the scenarios modern life throws at you. Live Wednesdays 4pm, Podcast Friday mornings.
Last week, we had the privilege of interviewing Dr Darius Jankiewicz about the topic of ordination, and explored whether it was a biblical concept or not. Today, he will be joining us again to dive deeper into the topic of women's ordination specifically. We will look at biblical hermeneutics, headship theology, and tackle the interpretation of Bible verses often used for/against ordaining women. It's an episode NOT to be missed!
The issue of women's ordination has become a wedge issue in the Adventist Church, polarising communities and dividing "conservative' and "liberal" Adventists. Parties on either side will argue "YES!" or "NO!", but is there a third route we can take to understanding the issue? For the next two weeks, we will be joined by Dr Darius Jankiewicz, the South Pacific Division Field/Ministerial secretary, who has done decades of research in this area. This week, we will discuss the concept of ordination generally. Then next week, we will delve deeper into the topic of women's ordination specifically.

It can be intimidating to read the Bible, either in personal devotion time or to lead a small group. In this episode, our team grapple with a random passage to both get something uplifting for ourselves but also to model how one can approach the Bible and find ways to access its richness to uplift, teach, challenge and grow the individuals who are reading. There is also something to be said for approaching the Bible as a community, so this conversation will feature some of our community, Jarrod, Zanita and Jesse. #RecordLive Wednesdays 4pm, Friday mornings podcast.
Last year Adventist Record celebrated our 125th anniversary. In this episode, we are going to share the sermon from that Sabbath celebration as not all could attend. The emphasis on what God has done in our lives and the stories we tell is so important and a value that we believe in at Record and we're pleased to share some stories of God working through the pages of Record in people's lives. #RecordLive, Wednesdays 4pm and podcast Friday mornings.
Christians like to outwardly reject secularism and "worldly" things. Yet sometimes our highest values aren't the ones we say we believe but the way we actually live. Have we inherited the mindset of the majority culture without even noticing? Are we living kingdom lives or are we closet secularists?
