In our first ever 'Meet the Manager Special", Freya sits down with Lincoln United Women's First Team Manager, Ricky Pledger, to talk all things "Whites" as they enter the fourth tier of women's football for the first time.Ricky discusses his coaching experience in football so far and what lead him to recently take on this role. We also discuss the impact of preseason and the recent frustrating defeat to Notts County in their opening game. Additionally, Ricky's talked about his personal experience of the changes within the women's game over the past few years, his hopes and expectations for the season ahead and of course the importance of having a growing number fans in the stands to cheer the team on.P.S. Listen until the end to hear which team and stadium Ricky would love to experience playing against too!P.P.S. Freya realised she said "Dance of the Knights" rather than "March of the Knights" by Prokofiev for the Sunderland AFC walkout music... typical. Hosted on Acast. In the final episode of season 1, we discuss the Women's World Cup Final in great detail and give our thoughts on the development of the Rubiales scandal which has overshadowed the great achievement of the Spanish Women's National Team. Our key talking points this week are: The growth of the women's game and support from the media. Was Lucy Bronze to blame for the Spanish goal?Does the Golden Glove reflect the best keeper?Should it have been a red card for Paralluelo? This England team always gave us hope, but we didn't come for the silver, we came for the gold.Record breaking transfer window offers for goalkeepers. Looking ahead to England's next international fixtures, will they come out fighting? Luis Rubiales and his inappropriate behaviour. #SeAcabó #ContigoJenniSafeguarding procedures in the women's game and wise words from Casey Stoney. What's next for the podcast! Hosted on Acast. WE'RE GOING TO A FINAL! In this episode we discuss the history moment we found out the Lionesses had made it to their first ever Women's World Cup final and our predictions for the match against Spain. In this bumper episode, some key moments we discuss are: How the Lionesses are rewriting the narrative of what "English football" means. What a female footballer "looks like" and are we finally breaking the stereotype? "Cute football" and other feminine adjectives, why are there so many in the women's game? You can't have a team of 11 Alessia Russo's, you need an Alex Greenwood and a Mary Earps. It's a bit like the school playground where you only knew a couple of footballers so thought they were the best, regardless of if you'd seen them play or not. Has the bright light of Sam Kerr faded slightly? ALL players in the World Cup giving children, boys and girls, all over the world new role models. Do we miss the Chloe Kelly we saw in the Euros? Or do we like her new role better in this tournament? Catch 22: If Spain win, the players will have deserved it. If Spain win, HE and the federation get the credit. Possible Spanish threats and how to exploit them.Final predictions. Can we beat Spain again with both teams looking very different from the Euros? Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
In this episode we reflect on England's narrow win over Colombia and look at how our playing style will change yet again as we face the Matildas in the semi-final! Key talking points this week: There's more players on the pitch than Sam KerrLeah Williamson giving the team an extra boost by being thereDid we actually miss LJ?.... No. If there were more cards shown, would it have been a different game? Where is Rach actually playing? She's all over the pitch! They're fine to dish it out, but can't take it.If she gets shoulder barged, she's going out of the stadium and into the car park isn't she? Legacy of the Lionesses down underIn other news, Kirsty Hanson is officially a Villan! Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.
