Description
Welcome to the Healing for Male Survivors Podcast, where male survivors of childhood trauma, especially sexual trauma, can find hope and healing.
My main goal is to give a platform to YOU, my listener and fellow survivor. I want to make this a safe space for you to tell YOUR story - and telling your story can often jumpstart your healing.
This *is* a faith-based podcast, but do not expect a lot of preaching, but I want to welcome anyone here regardless of faith.
**Trigger Warning/Explicit Content Warning** - we will talk openly and frankly about sexual abuse from the victims perspective.

Scott Slone is a survivor-advocate and the founder of Mighty AK, a survivor-led movement working to prevent sexual abuse and domestic violence in Alaska. After breaking decades of silence about his own childhood abuse, Scott chose to turn lived experience into action, creating space for survivors while challenging the systems that allow harm to continue. Through storytelling, public education, and prevention-focused advocacy, his work asks hard questions about silence, accountability, and what it really takes to protect kids before harm happens, and why prevention begins earlier than we think. Brandon Andres Green is a survivor, advocate, and faith-driven leader whose life was shaped by contrast — a polished public world and a hidden one beneath it. Raised in a loving Christian community, Brandon simultaneously carried the weight of childhood sexual trauma, mental health struggles, addiction, and an early drive toward entrepreneurship that drew him into the black-market underworld.Long before sex trafficking was widely understood, he was surviving it — living two lives at once until the cost became unsustainable. Today, as a husband and father, Brandon speaks openly about male trafficking, survival psychology, and the hidden paths that lead victims into exploitation. He now works internationally, teaching and ministering to hundreds still bound in modern slavery, and supporting victims of sex and labor trafficking across Africa and Asia.If you want to see the VIDEO 🎥 version of this podcast, you can watch from either Spotify or Youtube.Brandon’s Links:WebsiteFacebookYouTubeLink to Brandon’s YT Playlist showing the many Youtube videos about his painful story of being kidnapped and trafficked and left for dead.Previous HFMSwMC podcast episodes mentioned: Episode 57 - Forgiveness - Part 1 - James Gianakon’s podcast (Spotify)Episode 58 - Forgiveness - Part 2 - Panel Discussion - LIVE (Spotify)Mike Chapman’s links:Husband Material Ministries (“HM”/”HMM”; faith-based ministry helping men find freedom from pornography and other sexual brokenness issues) FREEInfo on Joining Husband Materials Academy (“HMA”; Paid)Learn more about Husband Material's CSA Survivor Fellowship (led by Mike) and the PLC Chat on WhatsAppMike’s WebsiteSchedule a free 30-minute Coaching Intro call with MikeMike’s StoryIf you would like to join us for future LIVE podcast events, learn more at: PolarLifeConsulting.com/livePlease Note: The views and opinions expressed by guests of this podcast are their own, and their appearance on the program does not imply an endorsement of them, their beliefs, or any entity they represent, by neither Mike Chapman nor Polar Life Consulting.**Trigger Warning/Explicit Content Warning** - we will talk openly and frankly about sexual abuse from the victim's perspective. In January 9th of this year (2026), Emmy-Award-winning actor Timothy Busfield (Field of Dreams, thirtysomething, The West Wing), husband of actor Melissa Gilbert (Little House on the Prairie) had an arrest warrant issued on allegations of child sex abuse involving 11-year-old twin boys on a TV production set in 2024 by New Mexico police.I am not going to discuss the merits of this case; instead, I want to talk about how the Hollywood Community has responded – in negative and positive ways – and what we can learn from it.If you want to see the VIDEO 🎥 version of this podcast, you can watch from either Spotify or Youtube.Links Mentioned:Timothy Busfield links/articles“Missing actor Timothy Busfield admitted it is ‘highly likely’ he touched kids on set amid child sex abuse probe, warrant reveals” (New York Post)”“Timothy Busfield and Melissa Gilbert: A complete relationship timeline” (New York Post)“Timothy Busfield Enters No Plea In First Court Appearance On Child Sex Abuse Charges” (Deadline)“Timothy Busfield's wife Melissa Gilbert, Thirtysomething costars offer 75 letters of support amid sex abuse claims” (Entertainment Weekly)“Melissa Gilbert’s Lifestyle Brand Issues Statement Amid Husband Timothy Busfield’s Child Sex Abuse Claims” (Us Weekly via Yahoo News)Modern Prairie Instagram Post Brian Peck/Drake Bell articlesQuiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV (links to Max in the US)“Drake Bell details 'extensive' sexual abuse as child star by Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck”“Rehab Helped Drake Bell Overcome Abuse & Find His Voice” (Mayim Bialik's Breakdown podcast)“Breaking Free: Drake Bell Talks Trauma and His Truth” (The Man Enough Podcast)“Full interview: Drake Bell reflects on the aftermath of ‘Quiet on Set’ in TODAY exclusive” (The Today Show)Mike Chapman’s links:Husband Material Ministries (“HM”/”HMM”; faith-based ministry helping men find freedom from pornography and other sexual brokenness issues) FREEInfo on Joining Husband Materials Academy (“HMA”; Paid)Learn more about Husband Material's CSA Survivor Fellowship (led by Mike) and the PLC Chat on WhatsAppMike’s WebsiteSchedule a free 30-minute Coaching Intro call with MikeMike’s StoryIf you would like to join us for future LIVE podcast events, learn more at: PolarLifeConsulting.com/live**Trigger Warning/Explicit Content Warning** - we will talk openly and frankly about sexual abuse from the victim's perspective. Today I wanted to talk about Brainspotting. I am a trained Brainspotting provider as part of my Life Coaching practice. To help you understand what Brainspotting is, I have included a recent training that Drew Boa provided with a recent Husband Material Conference (The Porn-Free Man) about Brainspotting. He describes the entire process from a Christian faith-based perspective, and how this treatment based on modern brain science does not contradict traditional biblical teachings. The training includes an actual pre-recorded demonstration (about 20 min.) of a Brainspotting session with ME in the hot seat. The training concludes with a 10 min. debrief with me and Drew about the session. If you want to see the VIDEO 🎥 version of this podcast, you can watch from either Spotify or Youtube.Links Mentioned:Husband Material Podcast with Drew Boa (Spotify | Youtube)Experience Healing Through Brainspotting (with Dr. David Grand) (Spotify | Youtube)Brainspotting: The Revolutionary New Therapy for Rapid and Effective Change by David Grand, PhD (Amazon)Mike Chapman’s links:Husband Material Ministries (“HM”/”HMM”; faith-based ministry helping men find freedom from pornography and other sexual brokenness issues) FREEInfo on Joining Husband Materials Academy (“HMA”; Paid)Learn more about Husband Material's CSA Survivor Fellowship (led by Mike) and the PLC Chat on WhatsAppMike’s WebsiteSchedule a free 30-minute Coaching Intro call with MikeMike’s StoryIf you would like to join us for future LIVE podcast events, learn more at: PolarLifeConsulting.com/livePlease Note: The views and opinions expressed by guests of this podcast are their own, and their appearance on the program does not imply an endorsement of them, their beliefs, or any entity they represent, by neither Mike Chapman nor Polar Life Consulting.**Trigger Warning/Explicit Content Warning** - we will talk openly and frankly about sexual abuse from the victim's perspective. It's our annual Christmas episode! Today, I am going to share interviews with previous guests when we talk about "Four Questions," and one of those questions is "What is your favorite Christmas or Holiday Memory?" Those that mentioned Christmas or any other mentions of Christmas within any of the other 3 questions (only a few fit that category) are all included. Most of these interviews are Audio-Only, but I will share information about the speaker on the screen. I intersperse the audio interviews with the newer video interviews. This is the FIRST part. I will share part TWO next Christmas with even more clips of Christmas past - folks discussing their favorite Christmas memories. Enjoy and have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year - more NEW episodes & interviews will continue in January. If you want to see the VIDEO 🎥 version of this podcast, you can watch from either Spotify or Youtube.Previous podcast episodes mentioned (in order of appearance; contact info is within the show notes of each episode): Episode 1 - My First Full Episode & My 4 Questions Episode 13 - Faith, Fandom, Cons & Cosplay, Part 2 (interview with Hector Miray)Episode 71 - VIDEO Live Interview with Jim FarringtonEpisode 17 - LIVE interview with Dr Douglas CarpenterEpisode 18 - LIVE Interview with Kevin BolgerEpisode 73 - VIDEO Live Interview with Sean WheelerEpisode 19 - Live interview with Luke Wiersma Episode 21 - Live interview with "Ed K"Episode 74 - 🎥 Interview with Scott McKellarEpisode 22 - Live Interview with Daniel Eichelberger Episode 23 - Live interview with Rocky PisorEpisode 78 - 🎥 Interview with Scott RalitzEpisode 24 - Live Interview with AJ VassarEpisode 25 - Live interview with “Roger M”Episode 80 - 🎥 LIVE Interview with Ken FreireMike Chapman’s links:Husband Material Ministries (“HM”/”HMM”; faith-based ministry helping men find freedom from pornography and other sexual brokenness issues) FREEInfo on Joining Husband Materials Academy (“HMA”; Paid)Learn more about Husband Material's CSA Survivor Fellowship (led by Mike) and the PLC Chat on WhatsAppMike’s WebsiteSchedule a free 30-minute Coaching Intro call with MikeMike’s StoryIf you would like to join us for future LIVE podcast events, learn more at: PolarLifeConsulting.com/livePlease Note: The views and opinions expressed by guests of this podcast are their own, and their appearance on the program does not imply an endorsement of them, their beliefs, or any entity they represent, by neither Mike Chapman nor Polar Life Consulting.**Trigger Warning/Explicit Content Warning** - we will talk openly and frankly about sexual abuse from the victim's perspective. Dave is a 40-something father of twins who grew up in southern New South Wales, Australia. He is a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, which began at age 7 and continued between ages 11 and 13. After carrying this trauma in silence for over 32 years, he first disclosed it just over two years ago. Since then, Dave has been on a rollercoaster of a healing journey, recently receiving a diagnosis of Complex PTSD (C-PTSD) and learning what that means for his mental, emotional, and relational wellbeing. This journey has involved confronting painful memories, reclaiming his story by returning to his childhood hometown, and rebuilding trust and safety in his life. Part of Dave’s healing has also involved reclaiming back both his mind and physical body - through fitness, healthier eating, and connecting with supportive male communities. For the first time, he has experienced genuine safety and brotherhood through survivor groups, men’s retreats, and close friendships, and he now mentors younger men navigating similar journeys. Alongside his personal healing, Dave has recently stepped into child safety advocacy, collaborating with other survivors of childhood sexual abuse to advise various university research projects focused on safeguarding and abuse prevention within educational environments and community sport. Through sharing his story and contributing to meaningful change, he hopes to give voice, encouragement, and hope to others on their own healing journey. If you want to see the VIDEO 🎥 version of this podcast, you can watch from either Spotify or Youtube.Suicide is talked about in this episode. #MSAD #MSAD2025 #MaleSurvivorAwarenessDay #MaleSurvivorAwarenessDay2025 #MenToo #1in6In today's special episode, to honor Male Survivor Awareness Day 2025, which is recognized in the US on October 25 each year, I wanted to replay the Video Recording I did to honor the first Male Survivor Awareness Day in 2022 of a live event I hosted within the Husband Material Community which was recorded and resulted in a Husband Material Podcast episode. The Audio from the episode was used on *This* podcast for episodes 5, 6 & 7. This time I am making 1 long (almost 2 hour!) video of the event. The event was the result of efforts by myself, Drew Boa, Dr. Doug Carpenter, with many contributions from Survivors within the Husband Material Community who submitted poetry and other items to be shared, some live, some previously recorded and some read by others. There was also a time for Questions and Answers by the live Zoom audience. The goal for this event (and the “Day” in total) was to help non-survivors understand and work with survivors to help support them on their healing journeys..If you want to see the VIDEO 🎥 version of this podcast, you can watch from either Spotify or Youtube.FULL Show Notes: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1yvsTf84TxY-oIJoRMVyM6XPWNQeB8BHoq98OgBGzREk/edit?usp=sharing
Scott was born and raised in Central Wisconsin. Last year he and his wife, Dorothy, celebrated 40 years of marriage. While they lived 12 years as missionaries overseas, they now have moved back home to be near extended family. It's been only since 2020 that he started to dig deeper into his past trauma, including childhood sexual abuse, that had buried. Much of it was forgotten and some was just pushed aside with the “help” of spiritual bypass. If you want to see the VIDEO 🎥 version of this podcast, you can watch from either Spotify or Youtube.Suicide is talked about in this episode.
