Description
Welcome to the Healing for Male Survivors Podcast, where male survivors of childhood trauma, especially sexual trauma, can find hope and healing.
My main goal is to give a platform to YOU, my listener and fellow survivor. I want to make this a safe space for you to tell YOUR story - and telling your story can often jumpstart your healing.
This *is* a faith-based podcast, but do not expect a lot of preaching, but I want to welcome anyone here regardless of faith.
**Trigger Warning/Explicit Content Warning** - we will talk openly and frankly about sexual abuse from the victims perspective.

We have previously talked about disclosure and why it is difficult for male survivors to disclose to anyone about the trauma they experienced. With that in mind, we discuss how to make male survivors feel safe and comfortable enough to share their stories.More about the panelists:Previous podcast interviews with Luke, Richard & Cranford (links to Spotify; contact info is within the show notes of each episode): Episode 19 - Live interview with Luke WiersmaEpisode 61 - Live Interview with Cranford BlackmonEpisode 60 - Live Interview with Richard WindmannPrevious podcast episodes mentioned: (Male Survivor Awareness Day) MSAD 2023 - “Disclosure”Husband Material Video Podcast (links to YouTube)Husband Material Audio Podcast (links to Spotify)Episode 9 - PLC/Healing for Male Survivor Podcast - Part 1 (links to Spotify)Episode 10 - PLC/Healing for Male Survivor Podcast - Part 2 (links to Spotify)Episode 11 - PLC/Healing for Male Survivor Podcast - Part 3 (links to Spotify)Other Links Mentioned:MaleSurvivor.org - has an online discussion board for survivors & moreCelebrate Recovery (faith-based 12-step group; links to website; local affiliates listed)Movie: That’s My Boy (2012) (links to JustWatch)Ricky Gervais (Wikipedia)Other Helpful Links:Video: Sexual Assault of Men Played for Laughs - Part 1 Male Perpetrators (YouTube)Video: Sexual Assault of Men Played for Laughs - Part 2 Female Perpetrators (YouTube)Mike Chapman’s links:Husband Material Ministries (“HM”/”HMM”; faith-based ministry helping men find freedom from pornography and other sexual brokenness issues) FREEInfo on Joining Husband Materials Academy (“HMA”; Paid)Learn more about Husband Material's CSA Survivor Fellowship (led by Mike) and the PLC Chat on WhatsAppMike’s WebsiteSchedule a free 30-minute Coaching Intro call with MikeMike’s StoryIf you would like to join us for future LIVE podcast events, learn more at: PolarLifeConsulting.com/livePlease Note: The views and opinions expressed by guests of this podcast are their own, and their appearance on the program does not imply an endorsement of them, their beliefs, or any entity they represent, by neither Mike Chapman nor Polar Life Consulting.**Trigger Warning/Explicit Content Warning** - we will talk openly and frankly about sexual abuse from the victim's perspective. Kyle Drossel is a 31-year-old man who has been through a lot. He recently found his way back to God, and that has helped him feel more at peace. He likes to spend his free time hiking and running, which helps him clear his head. But Kyle still struggles with relationships because of something that happened to him when he was 13. The assistant fire chief of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, someone he trusted, sexually assaulted him. This experience led Kyle down a bad path of using drugs and alcohol, but he's happy to say that he's sober now. He wants to help others who have gone through similar things, so he started a group called "Breaking the Silence." Kyle's goal is to help men feel comfortable talking about their problems and getting help. He hopes that by sharing his story, he can inspire others to do the same and create a community where men can support each other. Kyle also wants to spread awareness about the dangers of turning to drugs and alcohol as a way to cope with trauma, and he hopes that his story can help prevent others from going down the same path he did.Contact info for Kyle:FacebookFacebook Group: “Breaking the Silence”Other Links Mentioned:Article on Family Circus and the “Dotted Line” (NPR)Safe Harbor of Sheboygan County Previous HFMSwMC podcast episode mentioned (links to Spotify): Episode 47 - Three Word Challenge Update & The Lyle and Erik Menéndez Case UpdateEpisode 63 - Update on the Menéndez case & my recent Charlotte interviewOther Helpful Links:MaleSurvivor.org - has an on-ine discussion board for survivors & moreMenHealing.org - non-religious healing weekends across the US for Male CSA Survivors & moreMike Chapman’s links:Husband Material Ministries (“HM”/”HMM”; faith-based ministry helping men find freedom from pornography and other sexual brokenness issues) FREEInfo on Joining Husband Materials Academy (“HMA”; Paid)Learn more about Husband Material's CSA Survivor Fellowship (led by Mike) and the PLC Chat on WhatsAppMike’s WebsiteSchedule a free 30-minute Coaching Intro call with MikeMike’s StoryIf you would like to join us for future LIVE podcast events, learn more at: PolarLifeConsulting.com/livePlease Note: The views and opinions expressed by guests of this podcast are their own, and their appearance on the program does not imply an endorsement of them, their beliefs, or any entity they represent, by neither Mike Chapman nor Polar Life Consulting.**Trigger Warning/Explicit Content Warning** - we will talk openly and frankly about sexual abuse from the victim's perspective. Richard Windmann, Ph.D. is a survivor of childhood sex abuse and sex trafficking from the age of 7 until 17. He estimates that he's been raped by hundreds, if not over a thousand men during that 10 year period. After doing advocacy work with SNAP, 5 years ago he started his own advocacy Nonprofit 501(c)(3) called "Survivors of Childhood Sex Abuse” (SCSA), which currently has over 37,000 members worldwide. SCSA offers peer-led support meetings, one-on-one consultations, mental health and legal referrals, in addition to championing Statute of Limitations eliminations with legislative lookback windows. The first law passed was in Louisiana, where the Catholic Church challenged the law up to the LA Supreme Court and was upheld. Richard graduated from Loyola University College of Law School in 2022, as a Distinguished Fellow.Suicide is talked about in this episode. If you are experiencing feelings of suicide or you know someone who is, don't hesitate to get in touch with the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline in the US available 24/7 to provide free, confidential emotional support to people in suicidal or emotional distress.
