Description
Pedreira means quarry. I follow whatever grabs me. A question, a person, a world I know nothing about. I dig until I actually understand it, then it's on to the next thing.
The Pedreira Podcast is long-form conversations and series, one subject at a time. Some seasons that's pastors. Some seasons it's fitness. Next season it might be something neither of us sees coming. The topics change because the point isn't the topic. It's the digging.
Hosted, filmed, and edited by Joseph Pedreira Jr.

No edits, no retakes cut out. I record my Jack the Ripper audiobook live, straight into the mic, mistakes and all: the full prologue and the start of Chapter 1. It doubles as a free sample of the book, and shows what narrating an audiobook really sounds like before the editing. The Ripper: Heist to Hunted is on Audible, Kindle, and paperback.Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/B0HM678LLPKindle: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HBNMWYKS
I wrote a Jack the Ripper book, then narrated the whole audiobook myself in my closet. This episode is the full how-to: the gear (all in, under $500), turning a closet into a "poor man's studio," recording a reference clip for every character, my pre-recording routine (hot shower, Throat Coat with honey, room-temp water, and a green apple), cutting 30–40 minutes of takes down to a 9-minute chapter, mastering to ACX's specs with DaVinci Resolve and Claude, and getting it live on Audible.Next episode: I record the prologue live, mistakes and all.The Ripper: Heist to Hunted is on Audible, Kindle, and paperback. I wrote a book, and narrated the audiobook myself. The Ripper: Heist to Hunted follows three thieves, Tum, Lionel, and Tiny Tim, through a jewelry heist on October 21st, 1888, in Whitechapel, and yes, Jack the Ripper is involved. In this episode: where the story came from (a live game of Dread on this show), what it's about, why I did every voice, and where you can get it.Kindle + Paperback: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HBNMWYKSAudiobook on Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/B0HM678LLPHear the original story free: Dread, Jewelry Heist Parts 1 & 2 on The Pedreira Podcast.Read or listened? Greg Trumbach has no denomination behind him. No institution. Just a small church in Slidell that started in his living room and never really stopped feeling like one. We talked about spiritual warfare, casting out demons, what it's like to run a church with no safety net, and why a former Muslim ended up planting a Christian church.CHAPTERS:00:00 Intro07:16 Storytime07:49 From Muslim to Pastor — Greg's Full Journey18:18 Does Demon Possession Actually Happen?21:31 Running a Church With No Money26:32 The Kind of People Who End Up Here31:23 Hot Takes31:45 *Small churches have a deeper impact than big ones*32:14 *Denominations divide Christians more than they help them*33:06 *Women shouldn't hold the same pastoral authority as a man*36:35 *Spiritual warfare is real and most churches aren't taking it seriously enough*37:01 *Most churches today are teaching a watered-down version of Christianity*41:24 The Question45:08 Closing
