It's a few days late, but it's here! Episode 9 talks about setting boundaries and why they matter. Using a recent range experience from one of the ladies we shoot with, Cass and I discuss why setting boundaries can benefit you, not only from an empowerment perspective, but also from a self-defense perspective. Sorry I refer to it as episode 8, but it's for sure episode 9. Thanks for listening!
This week we share funny stories from the range. Join us for a variety of silly mishaps and things said to us.
Join us on a journey as we each talk about 5 instructors who have shaped us into the shooters and instructors we are!
Our special guest Heidi joins us to talk about all things confidence. The joy here is to listen to Heidi's story from her early stages of shooting to where she is now. Join us this week and hear how she has learned to be confident in herself and not give up!
What do you celebrate at the range? Oh, you don't...Find out why you're missing out on opportunities that could actually propel your progress with firearms forward. As always, thank you for listening!
These three "M's" summarize a lot of what goes into self-defense, but it also helps define what we do on the range, and more. Explore the meaning behind these M's and some ways that you can clarify your Mindset, and Mission while developing some Mantras that will launch you towards your goals. The trigger warning is there as we do talk about trauma and triggers to trauma in some detail. We want to be sensitive to the nature of this discussion and recognize that there may be parts that are necessary for some of our listeners to be aware of or skip altogether. The explicit button was pushed because of these discussions, not because we are cursing up a storm in this episode. Resources mentioned: Concealed Carry Class-Tom Givens, Violence of Mind-Varg Freeborn, With Winning in Mind-Lanny Bassham Thanks for choosing to listen!
Today we explore the topic of taking women's only classes vs coed class along with what makes a good class environment in these situations. Women's only classes have a place and time where they can be amazingly helpful. There are also times when a coed class can get it done. Explore these ideas with us and leave us your feedback. Thanks for tuning in! The trigger warning is there as we do talk about trauma, triggers to trauma, and some traumatic events in some detail. This is the episode where we introduce ourselves and what we're all about. We are not claiming to be master level experts. Instead we are claiming that we have enough experience in classes, and as instructors to shine light on issues facing women in the world of firearms. We decided to do this episode through the lens of Dunning-Kruger. If you're not familiar, we highly recommend googling the Dunning-Kruger effect as Spotify will not allow me to post the link here. We apologize, we know there are a couple of glitches with this episode. We appreciate your patience as we learn how to do this thing :)
Welcome to episode 1 of Every Day Carry Chicks. This episode is all about barriers to participation in the shooting sports. While specifically slanted toward women, we think that this can apply across the board. Big barriers include time, money, family support, role models, and intimidation factor.
