Cattles on Causeway

Payton Pritchard and the Boston Celtics have agreed on a contract extension that includes a mutual option. Brad Stevens keeps one of the most important Celtics in town for a little while longer and Pritchard gets more financial security. Meanwhile, the Celtics and Jayson Tatum have knocked off half their preseason games and the early returns have been very promising. Tatum looks comfortable, while Baylor Scheierman, Hugo Gonzalez, and Jordan Walsh all look like they’ve improved. There were, also, some interesting rotations from Joe Mazzulla, including one that really stood out for all the right reasons. Paul George also made his debut in Celtics green and the fit was obvious almost immediately. Finally, we talk about pace, pace, and more pace from this Boston Celtics offense as they look to show more urgency on that side of the ball this season.Host Nick Cattles has all that and more on the latest edition of “Cattles On Causeway!”

The Boston Celtics begin their preseason on Thursday night in Cleveland against the Cavaliers. Instead of previewing a preseason game, Host Nick Cattles has plenty of questions and thoughts on how Joe Mazzulla might handle the next couple of weeks. How much will Jayson Tatum play? How about Paul George, Mitchell Robinson, Derrick White, and Payton Pritchard? How much is too much? Cattles looks back to the 2024 preseason while trying to map out a “Tatum Plan.” Meanwhile, the Celtics are stocked with young wings that all need some time. How will the minutes be split between Hugo Gonzalez, Baylor Scheierman, Jordan Walsh, and Ron Harper Jr? Will Mazzulla tip his hand on who, if any of those guys, will start? One wing that likely will have issues getting on the floor is rookie Dillon Mitchell, but the same might not be the case for the Celtics first round pick back in June, Chris Cenac. Finally, is there an opportunity for Devin Carter to make this roster out of the preseason? That idea might not be too far-fetched. Let’s get into it all with “Cattles On Causeway!”

Baylor Scheierman is ready to play his third season with the Boston Celtics and this season could signal a significant step in the wing’s career. Will Joe Mazzulla find a way to help Scheierman build on his second season? How does Scheierman fit as a starter alongside Jayson Tatum, Derrick White, and Paul George? Meanwhile, there are LOTS of reports of Celtics camp being full of chemistry and hard work. Is this just post-Jaylen Brown honeymoon? Should we buy into all the kumbaya talk? Or, is this the typical pro sports franchise where everything feels great before the games actually start? Finally, Mitchell Robinson will have a huge impact on this team defensively, specifically against a certain type of NBA big. What separates Robinson from Neemias Queta and Luka Garza, defensively? Host Nick Cattles breaks that down on this latest episode of “Cattles On Causeway!”
