It's estimated that only 1 in every 15,000+ kids who play organized sports will grow up to become a professional athlete. But to make the odds even longer, imagine how few siblings grow up to BOTH become pros?? It's extremely rare.To make it an even more mind-blowing accomplishment, some sets of siblings become big stars in their sport, making all-star teams and even the Hall of Fame. Today we're discussing our favorite sports siblings. We cover the past and present, with hall of famers, future hall of famers, all time greats and a few who can be considered the GOAT in their respective sports. What did we miss? As proud members of Gen X we were basically raised on TV. And throughout our lives there have always been memorable animals popping up on our favorite TV shows. Why not honor these lovable little (or big) creatures with an episode dedicated to our favorite TV Animals! With a fun topic like this, we knew we needed a fun guest. And Bob St. Pierre was the perfect choice. We got to know Bob well when he was a marketing executive for the St. Paul Saints baseball team, but for more than two decades now he has been the Chief Marketing & Communications Officer with Pheasants Forever and Quail Forever.Bob is an avid hunter and he knows dogs about as well as anyone we've ever met. So who better to help us discuss our favorite TV Animals? TV series, cartoons, reality shows, commercials... it's all on the table in this fun, furry episode! What did we miss? Stage Names are popular across all forms of entertainment. An actor may choose a simpler, easier to remember stage name. A musician may choose something flashy that gets your attention. A comedian may want a name that just sounds funny. All of those examples come into play with our lists this week.To help us out, we brought in an old friend who himself has used a "stage name" for most of his career. Our old buddy and Twin Cities radio DJ Jon London joins us this week, and he tells the story of how his own stage name came to be in this episode. He also brought his own unique Mount Rushmore of great names to discuss. What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? Hate our choices? Please leave a comment with your suggestions. It's Oscar Week! We are big fans of the movies and usually have strong opinions on who we think should or should not win Academy Awards each year. Which gave us the idea to discuss the biggest Oscar Snubs of all time. But because we're just a couple of dopes, we knew we had to bring in some serious muscle for this episode. We were lucky enough to be joined by our old friend Jatin Setia who we worked with years ago. Since then he has gone on to do BIG things, including founding and running the Twin Cities Film Fest which happens every fall and is in its 17th year. They have premiered and showcased Oscar winning movies over the years as well as brought in some big Hollywood names for their events. One of those big names is one of Mark's lifelong crushes!Grab some popcorn and settle in for a timely episode, as we discuss Oscar Snubs, covering movies, actors and directors who SHOULD have won the gold statue. What did we miss? We brought our old friend Terry Daniel back to help us this week, listing our top 4 favorite Space Movies. Terry has been with us twice before, making him our very first three-time guest! He was the perfect guest for this topic. He brought a fun movie that never crossed our minds. And between all of our picks we discuss some of the biggest Hollywood directors, actors and franchises of the last 50 years. A while back we did an episode about our favorite Sci-Fi Movies, which does include a lot of Space Movies. But this week we focused on movies based in space, regardless of the genre. So if you want to add a Rom-Com Space Movie to your list, go for it!What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? Hate our choices? Please leave a comment with your suggestions. We are both big fans of the Winter Olympics and watched just about every day of it the last few weeks. Back in 2024 we did an episode about our favorite Summer Olympians and with the Winter games just wrapping up we decided it was a good time to honor our favorite Winter Olympians too!We recorded this episode right as the Olympics were getting started, so we were not aware of all the excitementΒ that was to come. Or the tough crash that ended Lindsey Vonn's Olympic comeback. All that being said, we chose athletes who have excelled over the last 30+ years and are both very happy with our lists.Relive the Olympic glory and help us go for the gold one more time this week! What did we miss? Last week in honor of Valentine's Day we had an episode dedicated to "Love" Songs. But now we're moving on. Things are not as rosy anymore and the ring may not shining so bright. Time to discuss our favorite Break-Up Songs! There are almost as many songs about break-ups, heartbreak and getting dumped as there are about LOVE. So we had a big list to choose from. We both picked songs from a variety of genres, including some surprises you definitely won't see coming. Sure... we may be discussing some sad songs, but you know us, we still have a lot of fun with it!What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? Hate our choices? With it being the week of Valentine's Day we decided to spread the love and do an episode dedicated to our favorite "Love Songs." ❀️ However, there is a twist... each song we chose HAD to have the word LOVE in the title. And no variations of that word either, so nothing with LOVER or LOVING, etc. Just LOVE.Since that was the only restriction we put on ourselves, we didn't need to focus only on romantic songs. Some of our picks certainly fell into that category anyway, but some of them are much more about the broad definition of love, and having love for one another. You know... hippie stuff. So keep that in mind when you share YOUR picks with us. Every song on your list has to have the word "LOVE" in the title! What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? It's Super Bowl Week! Last year we celebrated the end of the NFL season by listing our all time favorite Super Bowl Commercials. If you have not heard that one, go back and listen. And this year we decided to look at our favorite Halftime Shows. Our picks range from rock to pop to hip hop, covering artists that dominated the radio waves from the 1970s - 2010s. We only match on one pick this week and it's honestly a pretty obvious one that we hope will be on most lists. As an added bonus, we also give our predictions for the actual football game as well... you can take it to the bank! What did we miss? Awhile back we did an episode about our favorite beer and knew we'd eventually get around to doing one for Cocktails. There is definitely variety when it comes to beer, but not nearly as much as there is with cocktails. They can be sweet, savory, spicy, tart or any other flavor you can imagine. As we talk about in this episode, sometimes you crave certain cocktails at different times of the year. And winter is a time we both generally prefer cocktails to beer. We didn't match on anything this week, so you've got 8 different options coming at ya. Bartender.... Earworms are songs (or small parts of songs) that get stuck in your head and you can't get rid of them. Sometimes they are with you all day, sometimes multiple days. And they eventually start to drive you nuts! They can come from a variety of sources. The radio, a TV show, a movie, even a commercial. And once they get in your brain it's tough to get them out... until another earworm takes its place. With this week's episode we're listing the earworm songs that seem to pop up more often then others. In some cases they are songs we actually like, but even your favorite song can make you a little crazy when it gets stuck on a loop in your brain! What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? We have mountains, oceans, beaches and lakes. The cities feature amazing food, unique cultures and historical locations. With our lists you can see both the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. So grab a globe (Google Maps) and follow along as we take you on a tour of this great country! What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? Hate our choices? Mount Rushmore of Cool Band Names 😎We have done a lot of episodes about music including another that involved Band Names. That one specifically was about band names that include an animal in the name. When we made those lists, it didn't really matter how much we liked the band or their music, and this episode is the same way.For this week's lists we both chose bands that are not among our all time favorites in terms of their music. And one us picked a band he knew very little about. But with all of these we just LOVE their band names. Some are funny, some are a perfect fit with the style of music they play. But in all cases we chose them based solely on the band name - not the music they make. So as you make your own lists and share them with us keep that in mind. You don't have to like a band's music, to like and appreciate their band name! What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? Hate our choices? Please leave a comment with your suggestions. We are lovers of loud music. On headphones, in the car, at concerts... you name it. A lifetime of loud music has had an effect on our hearing, but it hasn't forced us to turn it down yet!Just because a song is a favorite, doesn't mean it's LOUD worthy. Some songs we chose are among our all time favorite songs. But in other cases they are just songs that NEED to be cranked up! And only sound good at a high volume. If it's too loud... you're too old! What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? Hate our choices? Please leave a comment with your suggestions. We're not releasing a new episode this week, so just wanted to post a quick video message to thank our listeners for the last year and to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.If you are feeling festive, be sure to check out our episode about Christmas Movies and the one we did a year ago about Christmas Songs. We'll be back next week with a new episode. We love the holiday season and everything that comes with it. Last year we did an episode dedicated to Christmas Songs, and this year we decided to tackle Christmas Movies. With this fun topic we knew we wanted to bring in a guest to help us, but we did even better than that. We brought in TWO guests! Angie Perkins and Molly Duevel (Mark's wife) joined us to share their favorite Christmas movies too. We had some obvious matches between us that may appear on most people's Mount Rushmore. But there were some surprise picks too. Grab some eggnog, put on your Santa hat and curl up next to a warm fire to listen along! Merry Christmas! What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? Hate our choices? We spun the wheel of names once again! This time it landed on the name Rick. We have done this twice before, with episodes about our favorite people named Steve and our favorite people named Gary. When it comes to people named Rick, we went back to the root of the name, which of course is Richard. So anyone with a variation or nickname from Richard was on the table. So that meant Richard, Rick, Ricky, Rich, Richie, Dick and Dicky were all names in play! That gave us lots of choices, and between us we only shared one pick.We covered music, sports, movies, TV, comedy and more with our selections. What "Ricks" would make YOUR Mount Rushmore? What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? Hate our choices? Please leave a comment with your suggestions. We always want to know... As proud Gen-Xers we grew up with John Hughes movies being a big part of our lives. He wrote and directed some of the most iconic teenage movies of all time. He also wrote many adult comedies too, like The Great Outdoors and Planes, Trains and Automobiles. We have mentioned a lot of his movies in previous episodes and have hinted that we should just do an episode dedicated to his greatness. So here it is! Narrowing our lists down to just four movies wasn't easy, and we both could have easily picked four more of his movies that we love. What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? Hate our choices? Please leave a comment with your suggestions. We always want to know... We both admit to not being very big readers. One of us only reads a few books per year and the other one only reads one type of book... autobiographies and biographies. Which is why we're doing this topic! As we say up front in the episode this will probably be the only book related topic we'll ever tackle, but autobiographies are something we both know a lot about and really enjoy reading. And because of that we had a lot of fun narrowing our picks down to four choices. We cover sports, music, comedy, Hollywood and more with our picks. What did we miss? We are both sitcom junkies and have been since we were kids. Unfortunately the golden era of the sitcom is probably in the past. Hopefully someday they will make a return to the nightly primetime TV schedule. There are many different types of sitcoms. Some involve families, some involve couples, some involve single people. But we are pushing those aside this week and focusing on series that take place around a workplace. Where the majority of the time the characters are at work. Or pretending to work anyway. This doesn't narrow it down as much as you may think. There are still dozens of great options. We chose shows from TV networks, from premium cable channels and representing every decade from the 1980s to today. What did we miss? Did we list some of your favorites? Hate our choices?
