In a world where sustainability is becoming increasingly important, the latest episode of our podcast sheds light on a remarkable initiative that is changing the landscape of school uniforms in Northern Ireland. Join us as we delve into the story of Liam Charton-Killen, the founder of Ethical Schoolware, a brand that prioritises sustainability, fair wages, and high-quality materials in the often-overlooked world of school uniforms.Liam's journey began in Manchester, where he was inspired to take action after witnessing the stark contrast between the lavish lifestyles of some clothing retailers and the troubling news about working conditions in their factories. This led him to question the ethics behind school uniforms, particularly when he found that one provider dominated the market in his son's primary school. After reaching out for information and receiving no response, Liam decided to take matters into his own hands. With a commitment to ethical sourcing and a desire to provide parents with a better option, Liam established Ethical Schoolware. His mission is not only to offer quality school uniforms but also to educate families about the impact of their purchases on the environment and society. For every uniform sold, a tree is planted, reinforcing the connection between consumer choices and environmental stewardship.Throughout the episode, Liam shares insights into the challenges of sourcing ethically produced clothing and the importance of transparency in the supply chain. He highlights his partnership with a B Corp certified manufacturer that prioritises fair wages and sustainable practices. This commitment to ethical production is not just a marketing strategy; it is a fundamental part of the brand's ethos.Listeners will also learn about the significance of quality in school uniforms. Liam explains that well-made uniforms not only last longer but can also be passed down, reducing waste and promoting a circular economy. He encourages parents to consider second-hand options and to connect with their schools about sustainable practices. As the conversation unfolds, the issue of rising school uniform costs comes to the forefront. Liam discusses the need for schools to embrace multiple suppliers to foster competition and keep prices affordable for families. His insights are particularly relevant in today's climate, where many parents are struggling to cover the costs of their children's uniforms.Liam's passion for making a difference shines through, and his commitment to creating a better world for future generations is truly inspiring. In the latest episode of Digital Circles, we delve into the inspiring journey of sisters Kerry Fletcher and Tara Beattie, the dynamic duo behind Cloth and Grain, a mobile soft furnishing consultation service based in Northern Ireland. With their unique approach to home decor, they are redefining the way we think about interior design, making it accessible and personalised for every homeowner.Kerry and Tara's journey began during their maternity leaves when they started their Instagram page, Sisters and Sons. What began as a personal diary of their motherhood experiences quickly evolved into a thriving community of mothers seeking advice and support. As their following grew, so did their passion for sharing their experiences and expertise in home interiors. This organic growth paved the way for the launch of Cloth and Grain, where they now offer tailored consultations for both residential and commercial spaces. One of the standout features of their service is the personal touch they provide. Instead of a traditional showroom experience, Kerry and Tara bring their extensive library of fabrics, curtains, and vintage rugs directly to clients' homes. This not only allows them to assess the space in real-time but also helps clients visualise how different textures and colours will work in their environment. As Carrie aptly puts it, 'It’s great to be on site and in your home, seeing what are we working with?'Their commitment to customer satisfaction is evident in their approach. After every consultation, clients receive fabric samples in the post, enabling them to make informed decisions in the comfort of their own homes. This level of service has resonated with many, especially in the post-COVID world where people are increasingly valuing home-based services. In addition to their core offerings, Kerry and Tara are also passionate about sustainability. They focus on sourcing vintage rugs that not only add character to a home but are also durable and environmentally friendly. Their dedication to quality craftsmanship shines through in every piece they offer, ensuring that clients receive not just a product, but a lasting investment for their homes. As they continue to grow their business, Kerry and Tara are keen on expanding their online presence and exploring new avenues for reaching clients. With plans to visit suppliers in Turkey to source more unique rugs, they are committed to enhancing their offerings and sharing their journey.Tune in to discover how these sisters are making waves in the world of soft furnishings and interior design!Click here to learn more about Cloth & Grain and book your appointmentIf you would like to advertise your business on The Digital Circles Platform simply email yes@digitalcircles.co.uk.You will receiveA fully edited MP4 version of the podcast.A series of reels for social media platforms.Your content shared on Digital Circles platforms andBlog and media content to filter out consistently over timeAn in depth interview about your business to share with your current clients and attract new onesOr go to www.digitalcircles.co.ukComing soon....Wheels on Reels.A brand new concept where our mobile podcast unit comes to you.Specifically designed for businesses, events, weddings, schools, charities, care homes etc.Creating lifetime memories and supporting wellbeing and social isolation cases. For more info contact yes@wheelsonreels.co.uk or visit here Hosted on Acast. This weeks guest is Bob McGouran from Strangford Roastery and The Coffee Port in Strangford, County Down.In trying to help his daughter find a little part time income Bob decided why not set up a coffee hatch next to his family home in Strangford just a stones throw from the ferry port. The passing trade and the fantastic location right next to queues of cars waiting to board the short trip across The Narrows to Portaferry meant that very quickly Bob and his full family were all hands on deck trying to make coffee before the sound of the ships horn on its regular departures.Taking his background in engineering and combining it with his entrepreneurial mind Bob decided it would make sense to purchase his own roaster and roast his own brand of coffee beans that would supply his own business and if all went well many others.Fast forward and Bob now has a successful family business both supplying and making coffee under his Strangford Coffee branding.A recent agreement means you will be seeing Bob's products in a very well known Supermarket across the island of Ireland. We talk to Bob about how he finds working in the coffee business and randomly about his Columbian supplier. Ever felt like your passion for sportswear is more than just a hobby? You're not alone. 😎 From the office to the footy pitch, sportswear has become a lifestyle. But here’s the twist – imagine if your love for the game could directly fuel grassroots sports? 🚀Gone are the days when sportswear was just for the gym or the pitch. Today, it's not only about brands like Nike; it's about lifestyle. From walking into the office to grabbing a pint with mates post-match, sportswear defines versatility and style.👕 Whether you're cheering at a football game on Saturday or facing a Monday meeting, your sportswear is your statement. It’s more than a kit; it’s part of your identity. It’s not just about supporting your local club; it’s about wearing that pride every day.🚀 Clubs and communities have embraced this shift, turning tracksuits and club badges into symbols of unity and pride beyond the game. It's a movement that's brought us closer, turning casual wear into a badge of honour you wear with pride in every walk of life.Chris also shares an insightful journey of how collaboration with the FA and support from Nike has launched a game-changing initiative: providing bursaries for 60-70 coaches in the last 18 months alone. These coaches now boast qualifications they dreamt of, without the financial burden. In the early days, it wasn't just about hitting financial targets but living the day-to-day grind, accepting mistakes, and daring to dream big despite the hurdles. Chris Morgan's reflections remind us of the importance of resilience in the face of challenges and the power of mentorship to steer through stormy weathers. As ClubSport NI celebrate 🎉 10 years in business, we're reminded that success isn't just measured in numbers, but in the lessons learned, the relationships built, and the ability to stand tall after every fall.#DecadeOfSuccess #BusinessJourney #Gratitude #GrowthMindset #MentorshipMattersSponsor:Over reliant on the Hight Street? In a world where certainty is a luxury, Orchardville and similar organisations are setting a pioneering example by infusing business into charity. It’s not just about generating revenue; it’s a strategic move towards sustainability.💡 By reinvesting profits instead of distributing them as dividends, these charities are able to expand their impact and ensure their services continue, even in tough times. This approach is a beacon of hope, proving that with innovation, dedication, and a bit of business acumen, we can overcome the challenges of dependency on external funding. It’s about creating a resilient ecosystem that can support the most vulnerable among us, no matter what. But why should businesses and individuals get involved? Beyond the moral imperative, there’s a ripple effect of positivity that benefits us all. Supporting such initiatives not only contributes to a thriving community but also evokes a profound sense of satisfaction and loyalty among consumers and partners.🎓🌍 Do you remember your first GCSE exam?
