The 2026 edition of the Toronto International Film Festival is officially over, and Sho Alli is joined by Jake Schulz to discuss their foray into a variety of films at this year's festival. They discuss some of the buzzier films, including Wild Horse Nine, The Debut, Fjord, La Bola Negra, and a whole lot more. Plus, they get into Obsession's chances with awards season beginning to get underway, and how Best Picture at the Oscars could still have a lot of heavy hitters still to come to theatres outside of the festival circuit.
The 98th Academy Awards, or the 2026 Oscars, are officially in the books! Sho is joined by Esfandiar Baraheni (2:19) to break down the biggest moments of the night, including One Battle After Another winning Best Picture, Michael B. Jordan winning Best Actor, Conan O'Brien's performance as host, and a whole lot more. Afterwards, Sho briefly discusses Ryan Gosling's newly released Project Hail Mary (39:43).
The 2026 Oscar Nominations are officially out, as Sinners and One Battle After Another lead the way ahead of the incoming ceremony in March. Sho is joined by Jake Schulz (2:15) of the Cinemates podcast to break down the nominations - they get into Sinners hype, how it stacks up against OBAA, how it was a strong year for international cinema, how the acting nominations could shake out, and where the biggest snubs lie.
The 2024 summer blockbuster season is officially underway! Sho gets into George Miller's latest entry into the Mad Max universe with Furiosa (4:50) and Glen Powell and Richard Linklater's latest rom-com in Hit Man (15:40). He also takes a visit to the Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes (22:35), and takes a trip to Miami for Bad Boys: Ride or Die (31:16). Plus, to wrap, Sho gets to some mini-reviews of Atlas, The Fall Guy, and Unfrosted (44:41).
Sho is back for another year of Oscars reaction, and alongside him is Michael José Collins and Jake Schulz, hosts of the Cinemates podcast. The guys discuss this year's Oscars ceremony, and get to the new start time, Jimmy Kimmel's job as host, who could potentially host in the future, and favourite bits. Plus, they chat about the movies themselves, including the night's big winners alongside some potential snubs. Afterwards, they review the performances of both Austin Butler and Zendaya as Dune 2 is finally out in theatres.
