Daggers returns (Not for long, don't worry) to put the podcast to bed.
After a very busy 24 hours over the weekend, the decisions were made to remove England Women’s head coach Jon Lewis and captain Heather Knight. Daggers & Lyds get together to discuss the reasons behind their removal and the ECB review after the disastrous Women’s Ashes tour.  The pair answer questions sent in about who might fill both positions.
Daggers & Lyds get together again to go through all the latest news from the world of women's cricket. England announce a TWENTY player "A" squad for their tour of Australia and the pair pick that apart.  The HUNDRED draft took place and they look at the headlines from that and how the squads are shaping up for the summer.  Plus the Mumbai Indians make it TWO WPL championships in the first three years.  And Blue the dog makes an unscheduled appearance!
Daggers (in India) and Lyds (in the UK) return with a look at the first two weeks of the Women's Premier League in India. Daggers catches up with commentary colleague and former Indian international Anjum Chopra to get her thoughts on how the first three years have fared, the possible expansion of the League and what the pathways are for young domestic players. Then, ahead of International Women's Day on March 8th Lydia tells us about sitting down with three other England players from different era's. Current captain Heather Knight, Lynne Thomas, Carole Cornthwaite & Lydia chatted about their respective times representing their country. You'll hear a chunk of that chat.
Daggers and Lyds return after a short break (which there is a very good reason for) to finally look over some of the reasons for England's performances in the Women's Ashes and to respond to some of the comments made by ECB Managing Director of Women's Cricket Clare Connor.    The look over the issues and the potential remedies going forward. Plus Daggers is in India for the WPL and also looks back at the recently completed Women's Under-19 T20 World Cup.
Daggers and Lyds get together to review a dominant start to the WAshes by Australia as they complete a 3-nil series whitewash of the 50 over part of the series.  That means a lead of 6-nil lead in the multi format system needing only 2 more points to retain the trophy.  The pair discuss the games and try and put a finger on what's gone wrong for England.
Daggers & Lyds are back for their big preview of the forthcoming Women's Ashes series.  After Australia retained the Ashes in England in 2023, this contest is one of the most eagerly anticipated in years after England won both the T20 and ODI sections of the multi-format series, with the Aussies winning the test at Trent Bridge.  Plus the pair answer some listener and viewer questions, and do a quick run-down of the rest of the news.

In this episode Daggers & Lyds are joined by Sky Cricket colleague and former Australia international Mel Jones to chat about a topic which has returned to the headlines recently.  The plight of the Afghanistan women's team has been ongoing ever since the country returned to Taliban rule back in 2021. The Taliban refuse to allow women to play sports (amongst many other laws against women) and so the team assisted by Mel and other sought out refugee status for them in Australia.  The ICC still allow the Afghan men's team to compete despite the rule that states that a full member nation must have a recognised women's team and pathways for women and girls.  The outgoing ICC chair Greg Barclay was interviewed by the Daily Telegraph recently where his comments regarding this topic caused quite the reaction.  Daggers, Lyds & Mel discuss.
