I traveled to Edna, Texas, to better understand the story behind the case that led to the executions of Norman and Ramey. After covering their executions for Death Row Stories, I wanted to see where the events unfolded and learn how the crimes affected the community that lived through them. But Edna's history extends beyond this murder case. The town also played a significant role in American legal history through Hernandez v. Texas, the landmark U.S. Supreme Court decision that helped expand constitutional protections against discrimination in jury selection and became a milestone for Mexican American civil rights. The journey also takes us to the Texas-Mexico border, where Norman was arrested after fleeing to Mexico following the murders. Together, these locations help tell a broader story about crime, justice, punishment, and the communities left behind.Death Row Stories explores the reality of the death penalty in the United States through on-location reporting, historical context and conversations with people directly impacted by the death penalty. If you are interested in true crime, criminal justice, death row cases, executions, Texas history, and investigative journalism, please subscribe and consider supporting the channel through membership.Subscribe to stay informed and engaged with the stories that need to be told.Discover our YouTube Channel:https://www.youtube.com/@Death-Row-Stories/
