This week we step away from movies and into one of Netflix’s most addictive series: Narcos, the brutal true story drama following Pablo Escobar, the Medellín cartel and the people trying to bring them down. Wagner Moura is extraordinary as Escobar, Pedro Pascal brings a completely different energy as Javier Peña, and the mix of real archival footage with dramatic recreation makes the whole thing feel uncomfortably real.We also get into the flaws, the violence can occasionally feel excessive, and because so much of the dialogue is in Spanish with English subtitles, look away at your phone for ten seconds and you’ll probably be rewinding. But with incredible performances, fascinating behind the scenes trivia and a true story so outrageous it often feels fictional, Narcos is absolutely worth the commitment. If you’re looking for something to binge through the dark November evenings, put the phone down, get Netflix on and give this one a proper chance.www.thepeterwalshshow.com
LIVE this weekend on The Peter Walsh Show — YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@thepeterwalshshow/streamsSaturday, 31 October — Qualifying: Live from 8:55 p.m. UK/Ireland timeSunday, 1 November — Mexico City Grand Prix: Live from 7:55 p.m. UK/Ireland timeKimi Antonelli arrives in Mexico on the verge of history, needing only a top-nine finish to become the youngest Formula 1 World Champion ever. We break down exactly what he needs to do, whether Russell or Hamilton can still delay the celebrations, and why managing the race may be more important than chasing another win. There’s plenty more in this F1 preview too: Max Verstappen and Red Bull arrive in serious form, Red Bull and McLaren are level in the Teams’ standings, and Sergio Pérez celebrates his incredible 300th Grand Prix start in front of his home crowd. Add Mexico City’s extreme altitude, thin air, cooling problems and huge run into Turn 1, and this could be one of the biggest sports weekends of the season.www.thepeterwalshshow.com
This week on the dating podcast, I’m trying to solve one of the strangest phrases I’ve seen on a dating profile: “Short term… but long term okay.” What does that actually mean? Are we dating, hooking up, or applying for a temporary position with the possibility of permanent employment? We get into the madness of modern dating language, mixed intentions, casual relationships, commitment, and why dating apps are starting to feel less like romance and more like a bloody job interview. I genuinely don’t have the answer on this one, so I’m throwing it out to you: what does “short term, long term okay” actually mean?www.thepeterwalshshow.copm

This week’s Movie of the Week is The Equalizer, with Denzel Washington at his absolute best as Robert McCall, calm, controlled, quietly dangerous, and somehow more intimidating because he barely needs to raise his voice. We get into why McCall stands apart from action heroes like James Bond, Jason Bourne and Bryan Mills from Taken, and whether Denzel’s sheer presence and swagger might actually put him on top in a straight fight. We also look at the human side of the story, especially McCall’s decision to protect Teri, plus the behind-the-scenes trivia around Denzel shaping the character, Chloë Grace Moretz fighting for the role, Antoine Fuqua’s direction, and how this film became the beginning of Denzel’s first trilogy. It’s brutal, stylish, surprisingly warm, and one of those movies that works because there’s far more going on than just action.www.thepeterwalshshow.com
