Stella Harris, renowned kink and sex educator, joins Jon, aka HiThereCatsuit, for a wide-ranging conversation about kink, sexuality, history, education, and the ongoing journey toward authentic self-expression.Stella talks about her own discovery of kink, her early experiences with BDSM, and why authenticity isn't a destination but an ongoing process. We explore her mental model of kink as an orientation and a spectrum, rather than simply a collection of activities. The conversation takes a deep dive into the damsel archetype — its history, its appearance in media, and the fascinating distinction between wanting to be captured and actually needing rescue. Stella examines how these images have evolved alongside our cultural understanding of sexuality and desire. We also explore the underground history of kink before the internet, the impact of media and censorship, and the ways kink education has changed as communities have become more visible. And since we're celebrating Kinktober, we make sure to talk about something that can sometimes get lost in serious conversations about kink: joy, silliness, and play. Stella shares why embracing those qualities can help people connect more authentically with themselves and their partners. This is a conversation about history, identity, education, community, fantasy, and finding the freedom to enjoy the things that make us who we are.Topics include:The damsel archetype and its cultural historyPersonal journeys into kinkKink as an orientationAuthenticity and ongoing self-discoveryKink and rope educationThe underground history of BDSMMedia and censorshipCommunity and acceptanceKinktoberSilliness, joy, and authenticityAuthentically Kinky, powered by Clips4Sale.Link to Article Discussed on the show
Content warning: This episode contains frank, detailed discussions of domestic violence, childhood physical and sexual abuse, murder-suicide, and trauma. Please prioritize your well-being and choose whether this conversation is right for you.In this deeply personal episode of The Real Porsche Lynn Podcast, Porsche Lynn steps away from the stories of burlesque, pornography, and kink to share a defining part of her life: her experiences with domestic violence and abuse, beginning in early childhood and continuing into adulthood.Porsche recounts witnessing devastating violence between her parents, losing both parents as a young child, and enduring further abuse while growing up in an adoptive home. She also describes a later violent encounter that threatened her life and another abusive relationship that forced her to make the difficult decision to leave.Through these experiences, Porsche discovered something that would change her life: martial arts. What began as the realization that she might be able to defend herself became much more than physical training. Martial arts provided sanctuary, discipline, community, spiritual connection, and a way to reclaim a sense of agency in a world that had repeatedly made her feel powerless.Porsche reflects on the complicated realities of abuse, including how love, circumstances, and empathy for another person's struggles can make it difficult to recognize or leave an abusive situation. She also speaks about the importance of recognizing abuse, finding an individual path toward healing, and understanding that surviving is not necessarily the end of the journey. One of the episode's most powerful themes is the idea that being broken does not mean being beyond repair. Drawing on the image of a repaired Japanese teacup highlighted with gold, Porsche describes how the pieces of a life can be put back together—and how the person doing that work can emerge with renewed strength and purpose. This is Porsche's personal story, not a prescription for how anyone else should heal. Her message is to find what helps you reclaim yourself, whether that is martial arts, art, music, dance, spirituality, professional support, or another path that gives you the strength to move forward. In this episode:Porsche's earliest memories of domestic violence and the devastating loss of her parentsChildhood abuse, the lasting impact of trauma, and the struggle with self-blameDiscovering martial arts and learning that self-defense was possibleRecognizing abusive behavior in adult relationships and finding the courage to leaveThe connection between martial arts, spirituality, discipline, and healingWhy de-escalation, compassion, and personal boundaries matterMoving beyond survival toward thrivingRebuilding your life without pretending that the past never happenedA message from Porsche: Find your own way to put the pieces back together. Your healing journey does not have to look like anyone else's.Porsche Lynn shares these experiences from her own life and perspective. She is not presenting herself as a therapist or mental health professional, and this conversation is not a substitute for professional support. If you or someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, consider reaching out to a qualified local support service when it is safe to do so.Thank you for joining Porsche for this honest and vulnerable conversation on The Real Porsche Lynn Podcast.
