Eye of the Storm Movie Podcast

In "Have You Seen?" we discuss a movie that some of us know well and others have just now seen for the first time. This episode is also part of our annual Halloween season in which we revisit classic horror movies to see how they hold up for audiences who see them for the first time. This week we revisit The Evil Dead, a 1981 horror movie directed by Sam Raimi and starring Bruce Campbell, Ellen Sandweiss and Betsy Baker, about a group of friends who unleash an ancient demonic evil while vacationing in a cabin in the woods. We discuss the movie's history, how it was made as a young filmmaker's first movie on a low budget, how those constraints forced the filmmakers to be creative with their resources and how this is reflected in the final version of the movie and why some of these compromises led to some of the most iconic imagery in the horror genre, how the movie has aged in the context of fourty years of filmmaking since then, how the movie compares to the reboot trilogy that takes the same basic pieces and goes into a very different thematic direction, how sometimes a movie's simplicity works in its favour and what modern horror movies can learn from that approach, and much more.Check out our other reviews and clips on all major platforms here:https://linktr.ee/EyeOfTheStormMoviePodcast
