We like to think we're self-made, but none of us gets through breakfast alone. Marcus Aurelius wrote that we were born to work together, like hands, feet and eyelids, and that what isn't good for the hive isn't good for the bee. Seneca called us members of one great body. Thich Nhat Hanh saw a cloud in every sheet of paper and called it "interbeing": nothing exists on its own. When you really see this, gratitude comes easily and loneliness is never the whole truth. In this session, we sit with that web. This meditation is for you if you want to:• Cultivate gratitude for everyday life• Feel less lonely and more connected• Let go of the "self-made" myth and soften arrogance• Feel part of humanity and the web of life• Bring Stoic philosophy and mindfulness into daily life📱 About WeHum, my meditation app (out before the end of 2026):• Build your own custom meditation and choose the length of the sounds and silences• Every intro, outro and guidance recorded by me. A guided meditation for love, presence and showing up for the people in your life. Part 6 of a 10-part series on love, connection and transcendence, inspired by Barbara Fredrickson's Love 2.0, Alan Watts and Stoic philosophy. Fredrickson describes love not as something you have, but as something you do: it rises like a wave, breaks and fades, and then another one forms. That takes a lot of pressure off. Feeling distant or irritated isn't failure, it's just how emotions move. Alan Watts compared life to music and dance: the point isn't to reach the end, it's the playing itself. And the Stoics remind us that while we can't control whether a moment of connection happens, we can control our part: our attention, openness and intention. In this session, we practise the verb: showing up.This meditation is for you if you want to:• Love more freely, with less pressure• Feel less guilt when you feel distant from someone• Be more present with your partner, children and friends• Practise loving-kindness as an action, not just a feeling• Bring Stoic philosophy and mindfulness into daily life📱 About WeHum, my meditation app (out before the end of 2026):• Build your own custom meditation and choose the length of the sounds and silences• Every intro, outro and guidance recorded by me. A guided meditation to let go of the ego, without fighting it. Part 5 of a 10-part series on love, connection and transcendence, inspired by Alan Watts, Marcus Aurelius and Barbara Fredrickson's Love 2.0. A grounded, secular meditation to loosen the grip of the self, see your worries in proportion and feel part of something bigger.🧘 Join the WeHum app waitlist (the first 100 get $39/year for life): https://www.raphaelreiter.com/wehum🤝 2027 Raphael Cohort, 10 places only (secure Stripe checkout): https://book.stripe.com/aFa7sL0ze00W3zca181oI05📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raphael.reiterIn this meditation:Alan Watts called it the "skin-encapsulated ego": the feeling of being a little self inside a bag of skin, looking out at a world that's separate from us. The ego is useful, like a name tag. The problem is forgetting it's a tool and mistaking it for the whole story. Marcus Aurelius practised the "view from above", picturing the whole city, the crowds, the weddings and the markets, until his own worries looked smaller. And Fredrickson shows that threat makes us self-centred, while connection lets us see beyond the cocoon of our own interests. In this session, we practise holding the ego lightly and relaxing into the bigger picture. This meditation is for you if you want to:• Let go of ego and overthinking• Stop taking everything so personally• See your worries in proportion• Feel part of something bigger• Practice a secular, non-religious transcendence meditation📱 About WeHum, my meditation app (out before the end of 2026):• Build your own custom meditation and choose the length of the sounds and silences• Every intro, outro and guidance recorded by me. A guided meditation for anxiety, calming the nervous system and feeling safe in your body. Part 4 of a 10-part series on love, connection and transcendence, inspired by Barbara Fredrickson's Love 2.0, Seneca and Epictetus. A grounded, secular meditation to quiet the inner alarm, soften tension and create the conditions for love and connection.🧘 Join the WeHum app waitlist (the first 100 get $39/year for life): https://www.raphaelreiter.com/wehum🤝 2027 Raphael Cohort, 10 places only (secure Stripe checkout): https://book.stripe.com/aFa7sL0ze00W3zca181oI05📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raphael.reiterIn this meditation:Before love can happen, the body has to feel safe. Fredrickson calls a perception of safety the first precondition for love: when part of you feels threatened, connection simply isn't available. Our threat system is brilliant at spotting danger, but when we're anxious, lonely or hard on ourselves, it sees threats far more often than they're really there. Seneca wrote that we suffer more often in imagination than in reality, and Epictetus kept asking his students one question: what is actually in my control right now? In this session, we use meditation to tell the body "right now, you're safe," so that warmth and openness become possible again. This meditation is for you if you want to:• Calm anxiety and an overactive mind• Feel safe in your body and settle your nervous system• Let go of what you can't control• Open up to connection again after stress• Bring Stoic philosophy and mindfulness into daily life📱 About WeHum, my meditation app (out before the end of 2026):• Build your own custom meditation and choose the length of the sounds and silences• Every intro, outro and guidance recorded by me. A guided meditation to transcend the ego and widen your circle of connection. Part 3 of a 10-part series on love, connection and transcendence, inspired by Barbara Fredrickson's Love 2.0 and the Stoic philosopher Hierocles' circles of concern. A grounded, secular meditation to quiet the "me, me, me" mind, soften self-absorption and make more room for others.🧘 Join the WeHum app waitlist (the first 100 get $39/year for life): https://www.raphaelreiter.com/wehum🤝 2027 Raphael Cohort, 10 places only (secure Stripe checkout): https://book.stripe.com/aFa7sL0ze00W3zca181oI05📸 Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/raphael.reiterIn this meditation:Transcendence doesn't mean floating out of your body. It means the walls of "me" getting thinner, so there's more room for "we." Fredrickson's research shows that fear and stress narrow our world, while shared positive emotion literally expands our sense of self to include others. Almost two thousand years ago, the Stoic Hierocles pictured each of us at the centre of circles (self, family, friends, city, humanity) and taught that a good life means drawing those circles inward. In this session, we use meditation to loosen the grip of the ego, without destroying it, and practise widening the circle. This meditation is for you if you want to:• Quiet the ego and overthinking• Feel less self-absorbed and more connected to others• Overcome loneliness and feel part of something bigger• Practise a secular, non-religious transcendence meditation• Bring Stoic philosophy and mindfulness into daily life📱 About WeHum, my meditation app (out before the end of 2026):• Build your own custom meditation and choose the length of the sounds and silences• Every intro, outro and guidance recorded by me.
