Fitting, showmanship and judging offer young people valuable opportunities to get involved in the dairy industry, grow their skills and build lasting connections. In this special BONUS episode of the Dairy Delivery Podcast, three individuals share how they rose to the top of their respective contests and what they enjoy most about being part of this year's opportunities. First, we hear from Joseph Achen of Iowa State University, who placed third overall in the National Intercollegiate Dairy Cattle Judging Contest. Although he didn't initially plan to compete when he entered college, watching upperclassmen succeed inspired him to give it a try. He credits his willingness to learn and accept feedback as contributors to his success. Next, 2026 National Guernsey Queen Olivia Jennrich shares how she uses her role to encourage youth involvement while promoting the traditions and values of the Guernsey breed. Heading into Saturday's youth activities, her goal was simply to enjoy the experience – and she did just that, earning a spot in the Senior Showmanship Finals. Finally, we hear from Sutton Paulson, this year's Overall Fitting Contest winner. After earning third place in recent years, his persistence and determination paid off. He discusses the international connections he has built and what it takes to compete at the highest level. Additional bonus episodes will be released this week on Thursday and Friday, covering this year's World Dairy Expo with educational seminar information, conversations with dairy farmers, youth and more from Expo.
