A toddler vanished from a campsite boxed in by mountains…and left behind absolutely nothing. Not a footprint. Not a toy. Not a trace.Hello Spooky Kooks!Tonight we’re unpacking one of Idaho’s most baffling mysteries — the disappearance of DeOrr Kunz Jr, a case defined not by what investigators found, but by what they didn’t. Timber Creek is a remote, rugged location with a single road in and out, yet search teams swept miles of terrain within hours and uncovered no sign that a toddler had ever been there. As investigators dug deeper, the story began to fracture. The parents’ timeline shifted.Witness accounts didn’t match. And a private investigator walked away from the case entirely, releasing a public letter accusing the parents of deception and using the search as a smokescreen. This episode explores the contradictions, the missing comfort items, the Leadore trip no one remembers, and the 911 calls that raised more questions than answers. It’s not a tale of a child wandering off. It’s not a tale of abduction. It’s a story where four adults and a toddler entered the mountains… and only the adults returned — with two versions of events that refused to stay still. If Timber Creek didn’t take DeOrr, someone knows something. And as Frank Vilt warned: “Sooner or later, the truth comes out.”If you enjoyed the episode please don't forget to follow our channel if you want to join our little spooky corner of the internet.
The Zodiac Killer didn't just create fear - he curated, crafted and performed it. Northern California became his stage, and decades later he feels more like a myth, than a man. Hello Spooky Kooks!Welcome to episode 52 which is part 2 of our Zodiac series.Northern California was once paralysed by a series of attacks that felt both random and meticulously orchestrated. The Zodiac didn’t just kill — he authored his own mythology in ink, symbols, and threats, shaping a legend that still refuses to loosen its grip on the public imagination. His crimes weren’t isolated acts of violence; they were performances designed to provoke, taunt, and control, turning the public into unwilling participants in his theatre of fear.In this episode, we’re not chasing the impossible question of who the Zodiac was. Instead, we’re examining what he was — through the lens of criminal profiling. By analysing his patterns, language, and behaviour, psychologists can trace the contours of his desires, fears, and the narrative he needed the world to believe. These elements form a portrait far more revealing than any composite sketch ever could. We’ll also step into the lives of the men whose names have echoed through the case for decades — including Arthur Leigh Allen, the suspect most intensely scrutinised by investigators. Their stories intersect with the Zodiac’s in ways too strange to dismiss, with evidence pulling you toward them and contradictions pushing you away. This isn’t about definitive answers; it’s about illuminating the truths that linger in the shadows of an unfinished mystery. We hope you enjoy this episode, if you do please remember to follow our channel to join our spooky corner of the internet!
The Zodiac didn't just haunt California, he haunted the very idea of being safe. Once you step into the story, you realise he wasn't just a predator - he was a puppeteer, tugging at the strings of fear, mystery and obsession. Hello Spooky Kooks!Welcome to episode 51, the first chapter of our two part deep dive on the Zodiac case, one of America's most infamous unsolved cases. The timeline begins in Northern California in the late 1960s on a quiet lover's lane, two teenagers on their first date, David Faraday and Betty Lou Jensen, were parked under a dark sky, a moment that should have been ordinary... until it wasn't.This was the first confirmed Zodiac attack and was followed by silence, confusion and fear. Until just seven months later when the silence cracked at Blue Rock Springs. Darlene Ferrin and Mike Mageau sat in a parked car when someone, who Mike mistook for law enforcement, approached and ambushed them. Mike survived but Darlene did not. This attack, unlike the first was not followed by silence. Soon after, letters began arriving to news outlets. They were signed with a symbol no one recognised yet and with the letters were ciphers. This is where it began to feel less like a crime spree and more like someone forcing the world to pay attention to them. Then a terrifying ordeal took place at Lake Berryessa where Bryan Hartnell and Cecelia Shepard were planning to have a peaceful picnic. A hooded figure stepped out in broad daylight, approaching them with a calm voice and a controlled presence.Bryan Lived to described the man, but Cecelia succumbed to her injuries. The letters continued, taunting law enforcements and making threats to the public and even school children. Then the final attack, a taxi driver, Paul Stine, picked up a passenger - a cab ride that should've been normal like any other, instead Paul lost his life. An attack that felt different, a lone man in an affluent neighbourhood and witnesses about. Yet the Zodiac wrote a letter and claimed the attack. Four confirmed attacks, five lives stolen, two survivors who carried the truth and a case that has refused to close, not because people stopped searching, but because the story kept shifting in the dark. This episode pulls you into these nights - the roads, the letters, the moments where everything changed - and the shadow that still hangs over Northern California decades later.
