In this special episode for the 16 Days of Activism, we explore what gender-based violence truly is—beyond the visible bruises and loud moments. We look at the many forms GBV can take: physical, emotional, sexual, financial, and the social/cultural restrictions that quietly shape women’s lives. We also examine how the Taliban’s current policies have created a systemic layer of violence, limiting women’s movement, education, work, and access to justice—deepening their vulnerability both in public and at home. The episode then moves into the dynamics of domestic violence: how control slowly escalates, why many survivors blame themselves, and how financial dependence and isolation keep women trapped. We discuss the physical and mental health impacts of living in chronic violence, from migraines and sleep issues to anxiety, depression, and trauma responses. Finally, we talk about what support can realistically look like, even in restricted environments—listening without judgment, naming the abuse, emotional validation, basic safety planning, and community solidarity. The episode closes with two reflective questions for grounding and healing.
This episode explores the quiet struggle behind sleepless nights — especially for Afghan women who carry layers of stress, fear, and emotional weight into bedtime. We talk about how overthinking, cultural pressures, trauma, phone use, and even late-night tea habits disrupt the body’s natural rhythm. We also look at what the brain actually does during sleep, why lack of rest intensifies anxiety and mood swings, and how small, simple habits can help create a smoother transition into calm, restorative sleep. If you often go to bed with a busy mind or a heavy heart, this episode offers warmth, understanding, and gentle guidance.
🌿n Episode 6 of A Time Just for You, we explore what therapy really is — and what it isn’t.This episode breaks down common myths and stigmas around therapy in Afghan society, explaining that it’s not just for “crazy” people but for anyone who wants to understand their thoughts and emotions better. We talk about what happens in a therapy session, the true role of a therapist, and how therapy can help with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and emotional exhaustion. Finally, we reflect on the importance of trust, confidentiality, and courage in seeking help — reminding listeners that healing begins the moment you choose to listen to yourself. 🌱
In this episode, we explore the quiet strength that rises when everything feels lost — the moments when despair turns into courage, and pain transforms into purpose. Through stories and reflections, we look at how Afghan women continue to rebuild life from the ashes, nurturing hope even in silence. This episode is a gentle reminder that helplessness is not the end — it’s often where hope begins.
Sometimes one moment changes everything — a day of war, a sudden loss, or years of living in fear and restriction. These moments don’t just fade; they leave deep marks on our hearts and minds. In this episode of “A Time Just for You”, we talk about trauma — what it is, how it affects the brain and body, and how we can gently begin to heal and reclaim hope. You’ll hear about different forms of trauma, the body’s natural responses, and simple ways to express emotions and rebuild resilience. This episode is a soft reminder: your feelings are valid, your healing is possible, and even the smallest act of care is a step toward light.
