Description

The Gossip Office is your go-to podcast to navigate a corporate career as a young person. How can you stay professional while still having fun? What is the "smartest" way to climb the corporate ladder? Or should you just, as they all say, quit your 9-5 and do what makes you feel passionate? Calm down, we've got you. We also panic - but we try to explore these topics with the help of research, personal stories and interviews with people who took different paths in life.

In the third episode of our theme on how our background influences our life choices we invited Fatima Essaidi. Fatima is the author of the book "we are the children of immigrants" in which she, together with her 22 co-authors, shares her story about growing up between two cultures. She shares the story of her own parents with us, as well as patterns and behaviors she recognizes in herself that have shaped both her personality and her life choices. Make sure to read Fatima's book! Link to her book.Contact us on:[email protected]@famacommunications.comFollow us on @the_gossip_office on TikTok & Instagram. Hosted on Acast. We continue to explore how our upbringing influence our life choices and career paths. Today we have a super interesting guest to talk about how educational choices start already in preschool. Tove Klaesson is doing her PhD on the topic of educational inequalities and the role of preschool. We talk about segregation and how that affects how children grow up to see the world and the possibilities. After (a very long) summer vacation with episodes being a little all over the place, we are back with our theme based episodes! We're kicking it of on the topic of how your upbringing and background affect your life choices. As we have been very active in advocating for women in STEM, we have looked at our field, and what brings people there/keeps them out through a rather gender coloured lens. In the next few episodes, we want to discover questions such as how does your cultural background influence your choices, what role does family play in your career and what role do bias and prejudice play in your direction in life. In this intro episode we dive into a few studies, give our own take on some of the findings and set the tone for the episodes to come. Roos is back from the monastery and we (Amanda and you) of course have a lot of questions. Why did she go back after 10 years? Was it as she had expected it to be? Do you have to be spiritual to do such a thing? We also talk about spirituality in our own lives and how it has played an important role in form of religion growing up. Apparently we're not completely real adults just yet, because neither of us ever attended any friends' weddings... But, we have experienced the wedding hype online! How can everyone afford to get married and attend so many bachelorette parties in their 20s? Why does it seem like everyone is having the exact same wedding? And what do we even get to say about this topic?Follow us on Instagram and TikTok @the_gossip_officeContact us:[email protected]@famacommunications.com Hosted on Acast.
