T.S. Eliot, wrote,“The world turns and the world changes, But one thing does not change. In all of my years, one thing does not change, However you disguise it, this thing does not change: The perpetual struggle of Good and Evil.”  (taken from "The Rock")Cain, the firstborn human, is also the first to hate, to lie, to use brotherly "love" for deception, and the first to murder. He is also the first example of religious persecution. He killed his brother because of the open way he worshipped the Creator God. Soon, Cain's descendants fill the earth with violence and ambition for conquest and human greatness. In the Bible, he becomes the head of an unbroken line of humans at war with God. They are referred to as "the children of the devil". In their sights are those who are loyal and loving toward the Creator God.  Join us for this episode of Thread where we investigate the origins of evil on the planet and the roots of the spiritual war that began in the murder of Cain and continues until the return of Christ to defeat this army and its capital city, Babylon. Is this episode of Thread we witness the creation of fish, reptiles, and birds and we'll learn the answer to the age-old question, "Do animals have souls?" This question connects to another, larger one:  "Does God intend our life to be primarily conceived of as a "spiritual" life with its true allegiance to an unseen part of us, our souls, with the goal of going to an otherworldly place called, Heaven? Or does he intend our life to be primarily a physical life, firmly connected to Earth and all of its inhabitants? Is the ultimate destination of our lives as believers clouds and skies, or a recreated, and very physical earth?  All these questions start with day 6 of the Creation Overture. Join us for this fascinating study.Music by Ryan AndersenRyan Andersen is licensed under an Attribution-NonCommercial License.

If you struggled to integrate the Bible and the current state of science, I believe this episode could really help you. As people of faith, we do not have to check our brains at the door. God gave us the ability to reason and to look into the nature of things and to experiment and to evolve mentally. What we need is not another level of denial about  proven scientific facts, but a deeper understanding of both science and the Bible and we'll see that they can both be friends. All truth is God's truth and science can only study what truly is as long as it stays out of politics and religion or anti-religion which is more the case today. In this episode, we work to understand the overall purpose of the Bible and of the Genesis narrative in particular.  Once we know what we are and aren't looking at, we can focus and see the amazing message God has sent to us through the creation narrative of Genesis 1-3, the foundation for the drama that continues throughout the Bible, to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus to the Book of Revelation.
