Harvest Chapel Podcast Episode 3 Back to the Basics (Part 3 of 4) “Make Disciples” Pastor Don Wolabaugh Love God… With All Your Heart! 1993… I watched my Dad die from oat cell carcinoma… I hate cancer!!! Some of you had family members die from COVID-19… I hate covid!!! Some of our church family struggle with heart disease… I hate heart disease! At 66, I’m doing what I can to stay active and fit. I’ll take all reasonable precautions to avoid having these issues in my life. I hate pain! I do what I can to avoid it! When you hate something, do you want to keep it around? Do you wish you had the thing you hate? If you could wipe it off the face of the Earth, would you? Hebrews 1:5-9 “You loved righteousness”… We got that part down. But do we really hate sin? We love God. We love righteousness. But do we hate sin the same way we hate cancer? Do we really want nothing to do with it? Or do we entertain it in our mind, and then think, “Oh, Jesus doesn’t allow me to do that?” But we think about it being so much fun back in the day. Do we watch movies and shows that glorify the sins we used to commit before we came to Christ? Do we laugh and joke about “The good old days?” Do we love righteousness and hate wickedness???? Look… “Therefore”… because you loved righteousness AND hated lawlessness! Anointed with the oil of gladness. The happiest people I know are all in, or couldn’t care at all. Romans 12:9 Abhor: to regard with disgust and hatred! Sin destroys, separates, and divides! 1 John 3:8 Jesus didn’t come to play with sin, He came to destroy it! Hebrews 13:12 Sanctify… Gk- “Hagiadzo” to separate from profane things and dedicate to God. Old house, uninhabited. Cobwebs everywhere. Kill the spider! Romans 12:1-2 You can’t just live life trying to incorporate Jesus into your life without change. You’ll be miserable! (Mom and Dad, kids, church on Sunday, no change Monday-Saturday) Hebrews 4:15-16 We have a High Priest! We can come boldly to Him and He will help us! It’s time to be a burning light!
