Katie Van Slyke - Katching Up With Katie

A new mare, baby goats, and a foaling season that’s already looking a little wild… and somehow we still found time to plan Christmas. 🐴🎄Welcome back to Katching Up With Katie! I’m sharing the story behind Pinky, the new mare coming to the farm, and why I couldn’t pass her up. We’re also catching up on Kennedy, our young horses’ first rides, and what it takes to keep everything moving around the barn. With 12 mares due during foaling season, plus mini horses, mini donkeys, and calves on the calendar, we may be spending a lot of nights on baby watch. Naturally, that leads us to planning D&D games, a possible Christmas special, and even a foal watch bluegrass band.Which are you most excited to follow next year: the foals, the mini cows, or the mini donkeys? Nate and Matt faced their horse show fears, while I finally did something I had been putting off for years! 🐴😂In this episode of Katching Up With Katie, the guys recap their first attempts at riding their horse show patterns on Ethel. One of them walked away feeling much more confident…and the other may have had the opposite experience. We’re talking about what they learned, the struggle of keeping Ethel motivated, and how they’re feeling as the show gets closer.I’m also sharing an important update about Kennedy’s injury and why I decided not to take her to Congress. It’s a bittersweet change, but taking that pressure away gives Kennedy the time she needs to recover—and opens the door for us to begin a new chapter together. We also recap our trip to the AMHR Nationals, including showing Gretchen, watching all the incredible miniature horse classes, and discovering just how much fun driving a mini can be! Plus, I share what happened when I faced one of my biggest fears and returned to the dentist after seven or eight years.Let me know in the comments what questions you have or what you’d like to see us discuss next time! 💕0:00 Welcome Back0:57 Nate and Matt Recap Their Horse Show Lesson10:20 Kennedy’s Injury and Our Change of Plans15:50 Facing My Fear of the Dentist30:09 Update on Our New Home Gym31:53 AMHR Miniature Horse Nationals Recap#KatchingUpWithKatie #HorseVlog #FarmLife #Equestrian #MiniHorse #HorseShow▶Check out my new merch: https://katievanslyke.net/collections/new▶▶DIGITAL DOWNLOADS: https://katievanslyke.net/collections/digital-downloads==========================================================▶▶▶Connect With Me!Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/katievanslyke/TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@katievanslykeFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/katievanslyke96Snapchat - https://snapchat.com/t/ARF7dCaESubmit your videos - [email protected] to products and brands I use daily!Tribute Horse Feed: https://tributeequinenutrition.comdac Horse Supplements: https://www.feeddac.com/product-category/equine/Amazon Storefront: https://amzn.to/4q5SSRyHey y'all, I'm Katie! My husband Jonathan is joining us to share what it’s really like being married to a horse girl! 🐴 😂In this episode of Katching Up With Katie, Jonathan answers your questions about his very limited horseback riding history, whether we can convince him to take a lesson of his own, and what goes into bringing all of our wild farm ideas to life. We’re also sharing behind-the-scenes stories about building the new horse barn, why its design somehow ended up including chandeliers, and just how much the farm has grown over the past few years. We talk about the animals Jonathan would add to the farm, his favorite part of everything we’ve built together, and his opinion on our new barn kittens’ names, Ham and Cheese. We even get a little sentimental while discussing what we’re proud of, handling life in the public eye, and why I’ve always tried to stay in my own lane. 💕Should Jonathan finally get back on a horse—and what questions should we ask him the next time he joins us?#KatchingUpWithKatie #HorseVlog #FarmLife #Equestrian #BarnVlog #HorseLife0:00 Welcome Back1:17 Naming Our New Barn Kittens Ham & Cheese3:47 Who Should Ride at Our Horse Show?6:58 Riding English for the First Time in Years12:58 Farm Growth, Our Team & Building the New Barn21:41 Marriage Advice for Non-Horse Husbands27:00 Hobbies, Daylight Saving Time & Staying Out of Drama36:28 75K Likes Challenge: Name Our Next Foal!▶Check out my new merch: https://katievanslyke.net/collections/new▶▶DIGITAL DOWNLOADS: https://katievanslyke.net/collections/digital-downloads==========================================================▶▶▶Connect With Me!Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/katievanslyke/TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@katievanslykeFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/katievanslyke96Snapchat - https://snapchat.com/t/ARF7dCaESubmit your videos - [email protected] to products and brands I use daily!Tribute Horse Feed: https://tributeequinenutrition.comdac Horse Supplements: https://www.feeddac.com/product-category/equine/Amazon Storefront: https://amzn.to/4q5SSRyHey y'all, I'm Katie! One riding lesson was all it took to send Matt and Nate into full-blown horse show panic. 😂🐴In this episode of Katching Up With Katie, we’re talking about what Rachel’s lesson means for the competition, breaking down the horsemanship pattern, and figuring out how Rachel, Matt, and Nate can prepare for show day. What started as a fun little horse show is suddenly feeling a lot more like the Super Bowl!We also brainstorm fun horseback games, bonus-point challenges, and ways to keep the competition fair while everyone builds their riding skills. I truly think they’re all going to surprise themselves—and watching them learn, improve, and cheer each other on is my favorite part of this whole horse show adventure. 💕Let me know in the comments which horse games we should add to their lessons! And do you like the idea of letting them earn bonus points before the show?#KatchingUpWithKatie #HorseVlog #FarmLife #Equestrian #HorseShow #westernriding0:00 Welcome Back to Katching Up With Katie0:47 Running Springs Horse Show Planning Recap3:08 Breaking Down the Horsemanship Pattern6:12 Matt's Competition Nerves18:30 Rachel's Lesson Recap22:12 Horse Show Bonus Points25:22 Wrap Up▶Check out my new merch: https://katievanslyke.net/collections/new▶▶DIGITAL DOWNLOADS: https://katievanslyke.net/collections/digital-downloads==========================================================▶▶▶Connect With Me!Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/katievanslyke/TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@katievanslykeFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/katievanslyke96Snapchat - https://snapchat.com/t/ARF7dCaESubmit your videos - [email protected] to products and brands I use daily!Tribute Horse Feed: https://tributeequinenutrition.comdac Horse Supplements: https://www.feeddac.com/product-category/equine/Amazon Storefront: https://amzn.to/4q5SSRyHey y'all, I'm Katie! We’re finally home from the NSBA World Show, and I’m ready to talk about what went right, what went wrong, and what comes next. 🐴In this episode of Katching Up With Katie, I’m giving you an honest recap of the highs, heartbreaks, and lessons from eleven days at the NSBA World Show. We’re talking about Kennedy’s incredible placings, why Penelope is taking time to mature, what happened with Denver’s performance halter title, and the split-second moment that disqualified Hollywood and me after one of our best western riding patterns yet.I’m also answering questions about fans attending horse shows, sharing some important horse show etiquette and boundaries, and looking ahead to everything coming next, from weaning foals and welcoming Bella’s goat babies to the AMHR Nationals and my first riding classes at the Congress in ten years! ✨Let me know in the comments what questions you'd like us to answer in future episodes and who you would like to see join us next time!#HorseVlog #FarmLife #Equestrian #KatchingUpWithKatie #NSBAWorldShow #WesternRiding0:00 – Welcome Back!3:41 – Penelope's First NSBA World Show7:08 – Denver's Halter Class Rule Mishap10:12 – Hollywood's Heartbreaking Disqualification14:54 – Western Riding Scoring Explained22:24 – Horse Show Etiquette: Fans, Boundaries & Meet-Ups32:50 – Farm Update & Congress Prep▶Check out my new merch: https://katievanslyke.net/collections/new▶▶DIGITAL DOWNLOADS: https://katievanslyke.net/collections/digital-downloads==========================================================▶▶▶Connect With Me!Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/katievanslyke/TikTok - https://www.tiktok.com/@katievanslykeFacebook - https://www.facebook.com/katievanslyke96Snapchat - https://snapchat.com/t/ARF7dCaESubmit your videos - [email protected] to products and brands I use daily!Tribute Horse Feed: https://tributeequinenutrition.comdac Horse Supplements: https://www.feeddac.com/product-category/equine/Amazon Storefront: https://amzn.to/4q5SSRyHey y'all, I'm Katie!
