Have you ever had a goal you could not stop thinking about? Not in an unhealthy way. In a way that gave you energy. A goal that made you want to get out of bed earlier, make one more call, take one more step, and keep moving even when the evidence was not there yet. I call that a pleasant obsession. In this episode of Born to Win, I explore why becoming emotionally engaged with a meaningful goal can completely change the way you think, act, and experience your life. I share a story from my own life, when I was twenty-eight years old and building a portfolio of investment properties. I was intensely focused. I had a target. I had momentum. And people around me could feel the energy I was bringing into the room. That is what happens when you become pleasantly obsessed with something that truly matters to you. I also revisit a story my father shared in You Were Born Rich about John and Pat, a couple who wanted to own a home despite having very little evidence that it was possible. What changed their lives was not suddenly having more resources. It was making a committed decision. Once they became emotionally involved with the goal, their focus changed, their effort changed, and opportunities they had previously overlooked began becoming visible. Inside this episode, we explore: • What a “pleasant obsession” really is • Why emotional involvement with a goal changes your energy • How committed decisions create momentum • Why the transformation is often more important than the goal itself • What Roger Bannister teaches us about breaking mental barriers • How belief changes what you are willing to attempt • The story behind Jim Carrey’s famous $10 million check • Why meaningful goals make life feel more alive • A powerful $5 million exercise to uncover what you truly want • How to deliberately build a pleasant obsession of your own One of the biggest lessons I have learned is this: The goal is not really the point. Who you become while pursuing it is. There have been seasons of my own life when I lost some of that intensity. I was still moving forward. But I was not moving with the same fire. And when I recognized that, I realized I did not simply want to get it back. I needed to. Because there is something about waking up with a meaningful goal that stretches you, excites you, and demands growth from you. It makes life feel vibrant. So let me ask you: What are you pleasantly obsessed with right now? And if you cannot answer that question... Maybe it is time to ask another one: What do I really want? If money, time, and other people’s opinions were removed from the equation... What would make you come alive? Find that. Write it down. Become emotionally involved with it. Then take one step toward it today. Because this is your life. Not a rehearsal. Decide what you want — and begin. Simplified Success in 15 Minutes or Less. What is the real reason most people never become successful? It is not a lack of education. It is not a lack of intelligence. And it is not because they do not have enough opportunity. Very often, it is indecision. In this episode of Born to Win, we explore why indecision can quietly keep you stuck for years—and why learning to make clear, committed decisions is one of the most important skills you can develop. Indecision does not usually look dramatic. It looks like waiting. Second-guessing. Asking everyone else what they think. Putting off the conversation. Delaying the move. Waiting for the perfect time. And while all of that is happening, life keeps moving. One of the biggest reasons people avoid decisions is fear of what other people will think. But this is your life. If a positive decision is not hurting anyone else, you cannot allow someone else's expectations to become the steering wheel for your future. Inside this episode, we explore: • Why indecision is one of the biggest killers of success • How worrying about other people's opinions keeps you stuck • Why you should be careful whose advice you accept • The difference between reacting to expectations and choosing your own direction • What my family's reaction to our move taught me about change • Why decision-making creates order in the mind • How procrastination and indecision feed each other • Why there is no perfect time to make an important change • How small actions build the habit of forward motion • A simple ten-minute practice to help you discover what you really want My father taught me something I have never forgotten: Never ask the opinion of someone who has not gone where you want to go. That does not mean ignoring people you love. It means understanding that every person gives advice through the limits of their own experience, beliefs, and expectations. At some point, you have to go within. You have to ask: What do I really want? Then you have to make the decision. Because the moment you stop hedging and choose a direction, something changes. Chaos begins to leave. Order enters. The first step becomes clearer. And then the next one appears. There is no perfect time. There is only now. Do not spend your life playing a supporting role in someone else's movie. This is your life. Make the decision. Simplified Success in 15 Minutes or Less. I had something most students of my father never had. I got to watch Bob Proctor when there was no stage, no seminar, and nobody taking notes. I saw him at the kitchen table. In the car. On phone calls. During ordinary moments at home. And, ultimately, during the final days of his life. In this episode of Born to Win, I want to share five of the most important things my father personally taught me—not simply lessons I studied, but principles I watched him live for more than sixty years. These five ideas have profoundly shaped the way I think, make decisions, handle difficult situations, and live my life today. My father was one of the most decisive people I've ever known. When I brought him a big idea, he rarely started by asking me how I was going to accomplish it. He would ask: “Brian, do you really want this?” Because if the desire was strong enough, he believed the way would begin revealing itself one step at a time. I also watched him deliberately choose where he placed his attention. He looked for what was good. He practiced gratitude. He refused to allow people who had hurt him to occupy space in his mind. And perhaps the most meaningful lesson came near the end of his life. Dad told me to keep talking to him after he was gone. Ask the questions. Get quiet. Listen. He taught me that intuition would continue guiding me if I was willing to hear it—and courageous enough to act on what I heard. None of these principles are complicated. That may be precisely why they're so powerful. My father didn't simply understand these ideas intellectually. He practiced them. Again and again. Until they became part of who he was. I can't hand you my father. But I can hand you some of what he handed me. And I hope you'll take these five lessons and make them part of the way you live your own life. Do you have a real goal right now? Not a wish. Not a “someday.” Not something vague you hope happens eventually. I mean an actual goal — written down, specific, dated, and clear enough that you could recite it right now if I asked you. In this episode of Born to Win, I explore one of the most important ideas my father, Bob Proctor, spent more than fifty years teaching: Your results are not random. They are closely connected to the way you are using your mind — intentionally or by default. Most people do not actually set goals. They have wishes. They want to make more money. Get healthier. Build a better relationship. Create a different life. But without a clear target, the mind simply keeps repeating what is already familiar. A real goal changes that. It gives your thinking direction. It gives your imagination something to work with. And it gives your daily actions a reason. In this episode, we explore: • The difference between a wish and a real goal • Why your results reflect your thinking and self-image • The connection between purpose, vision, and goals • Why a worthwhile goal should excite you and scare you • How to write your goal in the present tense • Why you do not need to know the entire “how” before you begin • The six-step process for choosing and committing to a meaningful goal • How to create and use a simple goal card • Why repetition and emotional involvement matter • How to recognize resistance from your existing paradigms • Why persistence matters more than occasional intensity • How your environment can either support or weaken your goal One of the biggest mistakes people make is waiting until they know exactly how they are going to achieve something before they commit to it. You do not need the entire path. You need a direction. Then you take one step today. And another tomorrow. The way begins revealing itself through action. My father’s instruction around goal cards was incredibly simple: Write your goal. Carry it with you. Read it several times a day. See it. Feel it. And keep impressing that idea into your mind until it begins becoming part of who you are. So here is the question I want you to think about: Are you living by default... Or have you consciously chosen where you are going? Stop wishing. Start aiming. Write the goal down. Put a date on it. And take the first step. Simplified Success in 15 Minutes or Less. What does it really mean to “act as if”? It does not mean pretending to be successful. It does not mean ignoring reality, performing for other people, or acting like everything is fine when it is not. “Act as if” means beginning to think, choose, and behave in harmony with the person you are becoming. In this episode of Born to Win, I share what my father, Bob Proctor, truly meant by this often-misunderstood phrase—and why lasting success begins with identity before it ever shows up as a result. We'll explore: • Why acting as if is not the same as “faking it until you make it” • How behavior gradually reshapes your self-image • Why identity comes before lasting results • The difference between pretending and practicing • How repeated choices reinforce the person you are becoming • Why successful people build habits that match their desired identity • How imagination and will work together during transformation • Why discomfort often means growth is underway • The question my father used instead of simply asking, “What should I do?” • A practical exercise to help you embody one new quality this week People often believe success changes a person. But more often, the person changes first—and then success becomes possible. Every thought, choice, habit, and standard becomes another vote for the person you are choosing to be. And one day, you realize you are no longer acting as if. You have become that person. Simplified Success in 15 Minutes or Less.
