Some of the best businesses start with a problem hiding in plain sight. In this episode of Her Table, Her Rules, Juliet Peters is joined by Taylor Howell, a finance and entrepreneurship student at Grand Canyon University and founder of Living Water Hydration Co. Taylor shares how a frustrating answer to a simple question, how to get water on campus, became a growing delivery business before her junior year. Taylor walks through the early days, from buying a dispenser and five-gallon jugs with her roommates and hauling them back in a wagon, to hiring friends for deliveries, building a website with AI, and setting up an LLC with guidance from her parents. She talks openly about the confusion around her subscription model, a slow February launch, and why starting with only a few customers taught her how to serve people well before her dispensers sold out. From there, the conversation turns to the lessons she is carrying forward. Taylor explains why a business doesn't need a brand new idea, only a real need, and how years of horseback riding shaped the way she learns from mistakes. Juliet and Taylor also talk through a possible exit through a GCU partnership, the limits of space and staffing, and why knowing her weak points, like marketing, is already making her a stronger founder. Tune in to How A College Entrepreneur Turned A Simple Need Into A Business with Taylor Howell and take a fresh look at the small frustrations in your own day. One of them might be the start of something big. Taylor Howell is a finance major with a minor in entrepreneurial studies at Grand Canyon University and the founder of Living Water Hydration Co., a campus business that delivers multi-step purified water in refillable five-gallon jugs straight to students' dorms. What started as a fix for her own dorm room quickly grew into a service with a delivery team, a subscription model, and a waitlist. Before college, she ran a small business making and selling phone cases, and she now stays active in GCU's entrepreneurial clubs. Taylor plans to keep building and eventually own several businesses of her own. The best time to delegate often arrives before it feels like the right time. In this episode of Her Table, Her Rules, Juliet Peters goes solo to make the case for delegating and hiring before you feel ready. Setting the financial side aside for most of the conversation, she focuses on the mental blocks that keep business owners doing everything themselves, and the lessons she learned from waiting too long to grow her team. Juliet admits she held off on hiring for far too long, including a firm belief that bringing on another lawyer wouldn't pay off. Her very first hire, though, came before her very first client. Knowing that doing the books was never her strong suit, she brought on a bookkeeper to keep her financials pristine while she focused on bringing in business. She opens up about launching Framework Legal with no clients, no plan B, and a family relying on her, why she wouldn't recommend that level of stress to everyone, and how it pushed her far outside her comfort zone. Her time, she realized, was better spent meeting people for coffee and building her network than filling in QuickBooks. From there, Juliet gets into the real work of delegation. It takes effort and time, and the instinct to step in and do it yourself never fully disappears, even with a business that has been running in some form since 2011. She shares why teaching people how to fish beats doing the work for them, how she has learned to depersonalize employee behavior, and why setting clear expectations means allowing people to change, grow, and sometimes leave. Drawing on her years at the attorney general's office, she explains why waiting too long to let go of the wrong person costs you your best people first, and why delegation always comes with accountability. Tune in to Why You Should Delegate Before You Feel Ready and consider which task on your plate is ready for someone else's hands, even before you feel sure. Real healing begins when care treats the whole person, not just the diagnosis. In this episode of Her Table, Her Rules, Juliet Peters is joined by Dr. Mona Amini, a board-certified psychiatrist and founder of Mon'Vie Mind Wellness®, for a conversation about holistic psychiatry, why medication alone rarely tells the full story, and what it looks like to build a practice around the mind and body together. Dr. Amini traces her path to psychiatry back to a childhood love of literature and Greek mythology, where every story turned out to be about human behavior. She was one of the rare students who entered medical school knowing exactly which specialty she wanted. Years later, serving in executive and administrative roles, she watched patients fail to improve in a system built around quick fixes. Medication had a place, but patients and providers both expected a single prescription to resolve everything. That realization led her to open her own concierge practice. It is built on a long-term strategy of nutrition, movement, sleep, community, and support that fits each person's life. Juliet and Dr. Amini also talk about sound as medicine. Dr. Amini, an EDM DJ, explains how she developed a sonic immersion experience, first in a substance use rehab setting and then for the public. She now guides people into deep states of clarity and nervous system calm in 90-minute curated journeys, completely sober. She also shares a simple tool anyone can use: a private playlist of three to five songs to reach for in the car, at the office, or right before a big moment. The conversation turns personal as Juliet opens up about her family's history of anxiety and the tools she relies on today. Dr. Amini reflects on facing the challenges of being a woman in a male-heavy field, and on the confidence she gained in her forties to take her career in her own direction. Together they talk about access to care, the rise of junk science online, and why credentialed voices need the courage to show up publicly. Tune in to Holistic Healing Beyond The Prescription With Dr. Mona Amini and consider what your own whole package of wellness could look like, beyond any single prescription. Dr. Mona Amini is a board-certified psychiatrist serving Arizona and California, known as Not Your Typical Psychiatrist®. After years in both administrative and clinical mental health, she founded Mon'Vie Mind Wellness®. It is a concierge psychiatry practice built on the belief that real care goes beyond the clinical and is tailored to each patient's style, habits, and aspirations. As a DJ and the creator of Give Yourself Permission™, she blends neuroscience, sound, and culture to help people regulate, reconnect, and feel fully themselves. She offers private psychiatry sessions and sonic wellness experiences, reimagining psychiatry for people who don't see themselves in traditional care. A breast cancer diagnosis can become the beginning of a woman's strongest chapter, not just her hardest one. In this episode of Her Table, Her Rules, Juliet Peters is joined by Dr. Beth DuPree MD, FACS, ABOIM, a breast cancer surgeon and medical futurist, for a conversation about earning a seat at the table in a field that once tried to keep her out, and what it actually takes to move a woman from surviving cancer to thriving after it. Dr. Beth DuPree traces her path back to 1987, when the chairman of her surgery department told her the operating room was no place for a woman and suggested she become a pediatrician instead. She set her own terms in response, and built a career on the idea that survivorship has to begin the moment a patient is diagnosed, not after the last treatment ends. That belief shaped decades of work training young surgeons in lifestyle medicine, genetic risk, and the kind of care that treats a person, not just a disease. Juliet and Dr. DuPree talk about what it takes to build the right support system during treatment, from finding a tribe that shows up without demanding an explanation, to cutting loose the energy vampires who leave a person feeling worse. They also get into how a diagnosis can reveal exactly who belongs at someone's table and who does not, and why pruning those relationships is not cruelty. It is what makes room for the ones that matter to keep growing. Dr. DuPree also opens up about her own experience with PTSD later in her career, and how that led her to psilocybin-assisted therapy as a way to heal trauma that pharmaceuticals alone could not reach. She is now bringing that same plant medicine work into cancer care, helping patients process grief and fear that outlasts the physical treatment. She closes with her vision for the next decade of cancer care: survivorship as the number one priority from day one, so every woman's journey becomes a thrivership instead. Tune in to Surviving To Thriving After Breast Cancer With Dr. Beth DuPree and consider who truly belongs at your table, and what it might look like to build your own path toward thriving, not just surviving. Dr. Beth DuPree MD, FACS, ABOIM is a breast cancer surgeon with nearly four decades of experience who built her career on the belief that survivorship must begin at diagnosis, not after treatment ends. She began practicing at a time when the operating room was considered off limits to women, and built her reputation as a surgeon who earned her seat at the table through pure technical skill. Over the course of her career she has trained hundreds of young breast surgeons in lifestyle medicine, genetic risk, and whole-person survivorship care, and has become an advocate for integrating psychedelic-assisted therapy into cancer care to help patients heal the emotional trauma that surgery alone cannot touch. She is the author of two books, with proceeds supporting survivorship services for her patients. Today she continues to practice part time while dedicating much of her work to helping women move from survivorship into what she calls thrivership. Sixteen years ago, Tamara Thompson was sitting in a jail cell. Today she runs a media agency generating millions and mentors women on building wealth that goes far beyond money. In this episode of Her Table, Her Rules, Juliet Peters is joined by Tamara Thompson, investor, founder, and host of Broadcast Your Authority, for a conversation about scaling a business through wild growth spurts and total silence, why letting go became her most valuable business skill, and how she built a lean, high performing team that runs on trust instead of headcount. Tamara traces her path back to an unhappy career in the fitness industry, a detour through film school, and a first corporate video job that offered her fifteen dollars an hour after she had paid for the degree herself. She negotiated her way to a fair rate, then left that corporate job entirely to start her own production company, betting on a subscription model instead of one off invoices. That bet paid off with a six figure client in year one, and it set the pattern for everything that followed. Growth came in bursts after that. A high level mastermind, funded on a credit card, generated $125,000 in eighty days through brand story trailers. Those trailers led into podcasting, then into stage sales that once brought in over $270,000 in two days, followed by long stretches of silence that taught Tamara how to market consistently instead of chasing one big win at a time. Juliet and Tamara also get into the harder parts of that story. Tamara is sixteen years sober, and she traces her resilience directly back to time spent in and out of jail and on house arrest, an experience she says means nothing in business ever fazes her the same way again. That same mindset shaped her philosophy on letting go, whether that means releasing old trauma or releasing a team member whose skillset does not match the role, and why she now hires fast, fires fast, and uses tools like personality tests and love languages to build a team that actually fits. They talk about how a CMO who sold his own company for $70 million pushed Tamara to downsize her team from 44 people to under 20, bringing in AI to fill the gap, and how that decision sent profit margins climbing instead of falling. Tamara also opens up about learning to pause before responding when she is being direct, and how leading with empathy changed the way her whole team works with clients. The conversation closes on Women Unlocking Wealth, Tamara's passion project built around what she calls the wealth bloom, a view of wealth that includes money, health, spirituality, and time freedom with family, not just a bigger bank account, and why she believes women are especially built for the entrepreneurial life. Tune in to How to Scale Your Business Through Content, Podcasting & Strategic Growth with Tamara Thompson and consider what you might be holding onto that is ready to be released, and what a leaner, more trusted team could do for your own business. Tamara Thompson is an investor, founder, and host of Broadcast Your Authority, a media and podcast production agency she built from the ground up after leaving a corporate career that did not value her contributions. Over more than a decade she has grown the company through subscription based content marketing, live event sales, and strategic paid advertising, scaling revenue into the millions while keeping her team lean and high performing. She is sixteen years sober and credits that journey with the resilience and clarity that now shape every hiring, firing, and growth decision she makes. Through her company and her passion project, Women Unlocking Wealth, she works to help other women build wealth that includes money, health, spirituality, and time freedom, not just a bigger bank account. Today she continues to lead Broadcast Your Authority while mentoring women on scaling their own businesses without losing themselves in the process.
