Jon Dykes went from the MMA cage to the golf course, and he's built quite a career along the way. A former amateur MMA and jiu jitsu fighter from West London, Jon found his way into greenkeeping without ever having played golf. Fast forward to becoming Student of the Year, earning a place on BIGGA's FTMI programme, and working as an assistant greenkeeper at Harleyford Golf Club, while helping out at major golf events whenever he gets the chance. We talk about his unconventional route into turf, the opportunities the industry has opened up, volunteering at major events, and why there's a career in greenkeeping for people who might never have considered it.
