Description
People don't quit jobs, they quit bad leaders.
We've all been there. Working under a leader who made every day feel like a battle, where communication was lacking, vision was unclear, and pressure felt like a crushing weight rather than a challenge to rise to. But what if you could be the leader who changes that?
The MPWR Podcast is here to help you do just that. Hosted by Eric Pfeiffer, CEO of MPWR Coaching, this podcast is for leaders who want to show up stronger, smarter, and more resilient in an increasingly high-stakes world.
Because let's face it, leadership isn't easy. 83% of companies say leadership development is crucial, yet most leaders are left to figure it out on their own. And when leadership fails, the consequences are massive:
• Toxic cultures
• Disengaged employees
• High turnover and burnout
But when leadership thrives? Everything changes.
• Teams feel empowered and engaged
• Communication is clear and trust is strong
• Productivity and performance soar
Leadership is more than a job, it's a responsibility. And the best leaders? They don't just manage; they inspire. They create environments where people thrive, take ownership, and step into their full potential.
Each week on the MPWR Podcast, we dive deep into real-world strategies, expert insights, and actionable takeaways to help you lead with confidence and clarity, even under pressure. Whether you're an executive, an entrepreneur, or someone striving to lead yourself better, this podcast is for you.

From Bottleneck to Breakthrough: Closing the Authority Gap in Growing Teams41% of companies are cutting management layers right now... without redistributing the workload those layers used to carry. The result: fewer managers doing more work, more decisions getting stuck, and an average of 12 direct reports per manager when the ideal ceiling is closer to 8-10. Something has to give and usually it's your best people. This is the Authority Gap — what happens when leaders hand out responsibility without the authority to back it up. In this episode, Eric and Dawn unpack why 78% of mid-level managers report burnout, and why that number isn't a coincidence. As Dawn puts it, mid-level managers are "literally being sandwiched between the demands of leadership and the realities of the day-to-day work." We dig into the two extremes every team eventually falls into: the bottleneck, where everything gets escalated because nobody's clear on what they're allowed to decide, and the free-for-all, where a lack of guardrails leads to decisions that quietly damage the business. Both come from the same root problem; leaders forget, in Eric's words, "all of the minuscule decisions that have to be made" to get something done, and never pass that clarity down. We walk through real client stories, including a CEO who didn't realize he was the bottleneck in his own company until his VP finally said what everyone was thinking, and a solopreneur who scaled from 1 to 30 employees only to find himself buried in decisions that were never his to make in the first place. You'll learn our Radical Minimum Standard framework — the first tool we hand every client — which pairs real authority with real accountability so leaders can stop being the lid on their own organization and start scaling their impact instead of their hours. If you've ever felt disempowered by responsibility without authority — or you're the leader unintentionally creating that experience for your team — this episode gives you the language and the framework to fix it. Only 21% of employees trust their leadership and 65% of Gen Z workers quit within their first year. If your team's turnover, disengagement, or stalled growth has you stumped, the missing ingredient might be simpler than you think. In this episode, Eric Pfeiffer and Dawn Neldon dig into what they call the "trust recession" — the quiet erosion of trust reshaping today's workplaces. They unpack why "it's just business, not personal" is a dying philosophy, and share the real story of a stalled real estate team that doubled its monthly production once they stopped chasing aspirational values and started building trust as a daily practice. As Dawn puts it, "Trust is the currency of team synergy."You'll walk away with the three concrete, repeatable ingredients of trust; making people feel seen, heard, and valued and exactly how to put them into practice, whether you're leading a team of five or five hundred. Eric explains it best: "The only way to overcome that risk is to build a bridge over the gap. And that bridge is trust." This episode reframes trust not as a soft skill, but as the hard currency every business relationship (team, client, or vendor) is built on.Listen now to learn how to close your team's trust gap before it costs you your best people. Micromanagement rarely starts as a control issue; it starts as fear. Fear that if you let go, things will fall apart. And that fear is quietly keeping capable leaders stuck doing work they should have handed off months ago.In this episode, Eric and Dawn pull back the curtain on why even the most competent, well-intentioned leaders fall into the micromanagement trap; at work and at home. They introduce the Empower Matrix and the concept of "support and challenge" as the two bumpers that keep delegation from collapsing into either chaos or stagnation. Through real stories from a clogged kitchen sink to a CEO who literally threw a pen across a boardroom; they unpack the real difference between delegating and dumping, and why so many leaders skip the step that actually makes delegation work.Imagine leading a team (or a household) where people don't just complete tasks; they grow into greater ownership, bring their own ideas to the table, and eventually do the job better than you ever could. That's not a fantasy. It's what happens when leaders commit to a short, consistent feedback loop instead of either hovering or disappearing.Listen now to learn the practical, uncomfortable pathway to delegation that actually multiplies your impact and start building a culture where letting go doesn't mean losing control. Are you ready to unlock your full potential and lead with purpose, clarity, and conviction?👉 Sign Up For Our August Leadership Cohort Today! The MPWR Podcast, hosted by Eric Pfeiffer, CEO of MPWR Coaching, is your go-to space for transformational conversations, powerful insights, and practical strategies to help you step into the next level of your leadership journey. Fractional Leaders Are Rising Fast, Is Your Culture Ready? The fractional executive market is exploding; from $9.4 billion in 2025 to a projected $25 billion by 2034 and 72% of CEOs say they're planning to bring on more fractional leaders this year. But here's what most companies aren't preparing for: fractional leaders don't just bring their skills through the door. They bring their own culture, their own communication habits, and their own version of "how things should be done" and if you're not paying attention, it can quietly undermine everything you've worked to build. In this episode, Eric Pfeiffer and Dawn Neldon break down the real cost-benefit analysis of fractional leadership that most organizations overlook. They unpack why competence alone isn't enough, what happens when a new fractional leader's "how" collides with your team's culture, and why proximity — or the lack of it — changes everything about how trust gets built. Using a real-world example from one of their client organizations, they show exactly how a well-intentioned fractional hire can unintentionally recreate the very drama and dysfunction a company spent a year eliminating. You'll learn the four-part framework for successfully onboarding any fractional leader (or any new hire, for that matter), why shorter feedback loops matter more when proximity is limited, and how to define and communicate your "Radical Minimum Standards" so every leader — fractional or full-time — is playing from the same playbook. If you're currently working with fractional executives, considering it, or simply leading a team in a world where remote and contract leadership is becoming the norm, this conversation will change how you think about onboarding, trust-building, and protecting your culture.Join Eric and Dawn's free monthly masterclass at mpwrcoaching.com/masterclass for live coaching and Q&A on the topics covered in this episode.Ready to Go Deeper? If this episode challenged you, join Eric and Dawn for a live virtual masterclass at mpwrcoaching.com/masterclass, where they unpack leadership tools to help you build a culture worth being part of.Want more tools to accelerate your growth?Head over to mpwrcoaching.com where you'll find free resources, game-changing books, and programs designed to elevate your mindset, build resilience, and transform the way you lead from the inside out.🔥 Subscribe to the MPWR Podcast on your favorite platform.📲 Follow Eric Pfeiffer across social media (links available on the website).🌐 Access our free mini course here!🔗 Check out our Leadership Framework System🎧 Enjoyed today's episode? If this conversation challenged or inspired you, we'd love for you to help us spread the impact.Share it with a fellow leader, subscribe so you never miss an episode and leave us a quick review on Apple!Your reviews help more leaders discover the MPWR Podcast and step into the influence they were made for.Be the leader YOU want to follow. The Leadership Vacuum, Why the Next Generation Is Saying "No Thanks"By 2030, ten thousand people will hit retirement age every single day; many of them sitting in the senior leadership seats of today's organizations. At the same time, only 30% of the workforce says they even want to become managers. That's not a coincidence. That's a vacuum. And in this episode, Eric Pfeiffer and Dawn Neldon name exactly why it's happening and why blaming "unambitious" young leaders is missing the real story entirely.Eric lays out the core insight early: "People aren't rejecting leadership per se. They're rejecting the version of it that they've been watching the current leaders live out and experience." That single line reframes the whole conversation. This isn't about laziness or entitlement — it's about a generation watching burnout, broken marriages, and 70-hour weeks get handed down as "the cost of success," and deciding the math doesn't work. As Eric puts it plainly: "If the cost of taking a promotion and stepping into a leadership role is greater than the benefits, it doesn't make sense."Dawn pushes the data further, pointing out that 71% of middle managers report feeling burned out and under-equipped — not because they're weak, but because they were promoted without ever being trained. Eric compares it to sending someone to war without boot camp: all rank, no readiness. That gap, he argues, is the real root of the "imposter syndrome" epidemic showing up in leaders as young as 25 and as seasoned as 60.The conversation doesn't stop at diagnosis — it moves into what actually shifts this. Eric shares a hard truth about inherited leadership habits, including the "FITFO" mentality (figure it out) so many leaders default to simply because it's what was modeled for them. His challenge to listeners: "We cannot give to others what we have not first cultivated within ourselves." And in one of the episode's most quotable moments, Dawn reframes the whole opportunity in front of current leaders — that the real work isn't capitulating to a younger generation's preferences, but becoming "the type of leader that they needed."If you're a leader looking behind you and wondering who's going to step up next; or if you're the one quietly deciding leadership isn't worth the cost you've watched it take — this episode gives you language for what's happening and a real starting point for what to do about it. Listen now, and if this lands, share it with a leader who's ready to close the gap instead of widening it.Ready to Go Deeper?
