In this episode, we conclude our special four-part series focused on educating Floridians about Amendment 3 and its potential impact on property taxes and essential local services. We sit down with Walton County Sheriff Mike Adkinson to discuss what changes to local property tax revenue could mean for public safety. Sheriff Adkinson explains the realities of operating a sheriff's office, from staffing and response times to equipment, training and technology, and how growing communities continue to increase demand for law enforcement services. He also discusses concerns surrounding public safety funding, the potential for tax shifts or increased fees, and the difficult choices communities could face if revenues decline while expectations for service remain the same. Hear Sheriff Adkinson's perspective on what Floridians should understand about Amendment 3 before heading to the ballot box. ________________________________________ Thanks for listening to FSAcast. In this episode, we continue our special four-part series focused on educating Floridians about Amendment 3 and its potential impact on property taxes, local government, and essential services. We sit down with Jeff Kottkamp, president and CEO of Florida TaxWatch and Florida's former lieutenant governor, to examine the amendment from a fiscal and taxpayer perspective. Drawing on Florida TaxWatch's independent research and his own experience in state government, Governor Kottkamp discusses what Floridians should understand beyond the potential property tax savings highlighted by supporters of Amendment 3. We also examine Florida TaxWatch's concerns about the potential for tax shifts, what Amendment 3 could mean for renters and small businesses, and why the effects could vary significantly between fast-growing communities and smaller or more fiscally constrained counties. Kottkamp also discusses whether meaningful property tax relief could be achieved through other approaches and why Florida TaxWatch believes a change of this magnitude deserves additional examination through the Taxation and Budget Reform Commission. ________________________________________ Thanks for listening to FSAcast.
