If selling makes you feel manipulative, coercive, or like you're doing something to people instead of for them, this episode is the medicine. And it's not a mindset hack. It's a completely different understanding of what selling actually is and a simple 3-step way to get the ick out. In this milestone 100th episode, Nikki traces the grossness back to its actual source and offers two frames that change everything and shows you that ethical selling isn't a technique. It's a relationship. In this episode you'll learn: The specific tactics that make selling feel gross and why they're not inherent to selling itself How marketing and community organizing require the exact same principles and what that means for how you show up in your business The three components of ethical selling that don't require you to compromise your integrity to get the yes What to examine if selling still feels uncomfortable after you've done the work Where do we go from here? If your business is technically working — people are paying you, you're delivering, the cycle continues — but something about it feels hollow, exhausting, or like you're constantly starting over, this episode is going to tell you why. And it has nothing to do with your offer or your marketing. In this episode, Nikki makes the case that the transactional model — the default operating system of capitalism — is covertly draining the life out of businesses that should be thriving. She lays out what it actually looks like to run a business where the people who pay you are genuinely invested in what you're doing together — not just getting their money's worth and moving on. This episode is also for you if you're still waiting for your first client or customer. If you're putting content out, making offers, doing everything you've been told to do — and nobody is buying — the transactional model might be exactly what's in the way. When there's nothing bigger than the transaction to be part of, there's no reason for the right person to choose you specifically. This episode is about what changes when there is. In this episode you'll learn: Why transactional businesses produce transactional clients — and what that cycle actually costs you in energy, retention, and referrals How capitalism trained us to think about the people who pay us as consumers rather than humans — and what it feels like to both parties when that's the operating assumption The accomplice model: what your clients and customers actually become when the relationship is built on something bigger than an invoice What the horizon is and why any business — a t-shirt company, a hairstylist, a copywriter — can have one What the difference between a marketplace and a movement looks like in practice Where do we go from here? If you're struggling to get clients and you've done every ideal client exercise in the book, this episode is going to show you why those exercises might be part of the problem — and what actually turns people into clients. In this episode you'll learn: Where the dream client concept came from and how manifestation culture infected a legitimate marketing tool Why the dream client framework strips real people of their agency — and what that's costing you The entitlement problem nobody talks about: how the dream client produces coaches and service providers who resent their actual clients for not being fictional enough Why dreaming about clients and getting clients are two completely different activities Nikki's tool for getting specific about who your person is without projecting What to do instead of building an avatar: the two things that actually turn people into clients Where do we go from here? You've Been Told Your Outcomes Are a Product of Your Vibration. Here's Why That's Not Spiritual — It's Political. If you've ever used manifestation practices and still felt like something was off — like the framework wasn't built for you, or worse, was working against you — this episode is going to tell you exactly why. And you'll leave knowing what to do instead. In this episode, Nikki makes the case that modern manifestation — the Law of Attraction, the vision board, lucky girl syndrome, all of it — isn't just ancient wisdom. It's ancient wisdom with the ancestry removed and individualism installed. And that removal isn't neutral. In this episode, Nikki breaks down what was taken and what we get back when we tell the truth about it. In this episode you'll learn: The three specific ways manifestation functions as a supremacy tool rather than a spiritual neutral The core reframe that changes everything: from attracting to reclaiming, from asking to compelling Nikki's specific reclamation practice for people who are done asking the universe for what's already theirs Mentioned in this episode: TAP HERE to listen to Episode 96: It's Not Woo, It's Black TAP HERE to listen to Episode 77: How Do We Achieve Matriarchy? When someone says "it's giving" or "no cap," people call it Gen Z slang. We know what that actually is. The same erasure is happening inside the spiritual and wellness industry — and this episode is going to spell out what's been going unsaid. In this episode, Nikki makes the case that what the New Age industry packaged and sold as spirituality, energy work, and manifestation has African and African diasporic origins that got scrubbed and sanitized for white consumption and profit — and that the word "woo" is not a neutral descriptor. Pointing to the history of Hoodoo, Voodoo, and African ancestral practices, Nikki highlights what was taken, what got lost in the pillaging, and what becomes possible when we simply tell the truth about where these practices came from. In this episode you'll learn: Why "woo" isn't a neutral descriptor The specific African and African diasporic practices that form the foundation of what gets sold as New Age spirituality What gets lost when spiritual practice is stripped of its communal roots and sold as individual enhancement The financial dimension of spiritual appropriation — who profits, who gets penalized, and why What right relationship with these practices actually looks like for everyone in the spiritual business space Go deeper right now: TAP HERE to listen to Episode 48: Decolonizing Prayer: Reclaiming God as a Liberation Praxis with Bossy Bruja TAP HERE to listen to Episode 49: Black Mysticism as Ancestral Technology:Decolonizing Tarot with Sanyu Estelle TAP HERE to listen to Episode 50: Rituals for the Revolution: Healing, Justice, and Spirituality with Jade T.
