Description

Sean D'Souza made two vows when he started up Psychotactics back in 2002. The first was that he'd always get paid in advance and the second was that work wouldn't control his life. He decided to take three months off every year. But how do you take three months off, without affecting your business and profits? Do you buy into the myth of "outsourcing everything and working just a few hours a week?" Not really. Instead, you structure your business in a way that enables you to work hard and then take three months off every single year. And Sean walks his talk. Since 2004, he's taken three months off every year (except in 2005, when there was a medical emergency). This podcast isn't about the easy life. It's not some magic trick about working less. Instead with this podcast you learn how to really enjoy your work, enjoy your vacation time and yes, get paid in advance.

In 2017, I started a journey to try to slow down. Despite being in the business for almost 17 years, I found that I was doing more than ever. When could I slow down, and how could I do it? This is about the journey of meditation and living in a world that is different from the one we're in right now. It's also an in-depth review of Pico Iyer's book, The Art of Stillness. I think you'll enjoy it quite a lot.
When we think of motivated people, we rarely associate them with procrastination. Motivated people seem to get everything done, and yet if you speak to someone who is fairly productive, you will often find that they call themselves procrastinators. This feeling they express isn't just a way to seek attention. Instead, it's something that often drives them crazy. They almost come to a conclusion that procrastination is somehow inbuilt, yet it's not something you're born with. Instead, it's a design flaw. Design flaw? Absolutely and let's find out exactly what causes procrastination. You'll enjoy this episode.

Everybody starts out very excited when a business is in its infancy, but after a while, doesn't it get boring? How can you sustain a business for so long? 5000bc is our community site, and it has stayed steady for over two decades. Why is this the case? If you have an information-based community, how can you create something similar? This episode is a lot about me telling my story, but hopefully it will be useful to you as you go over the next few decades.
