Have you ever shared something you're really proud of in your business, received lovely comments from complete strangers, and then found yourself wondering why your closest friends and family haven't even given it a like?Or perhaps you've felt a little awkward knowing that an old school friend or someone from the school gates has been watching your Instagram Stories? In this solo episode of Showing Up, I'm exploring the fascinating psychology behind why people we know sometimes engage less with our content than complete strangers.I'm sharing some interesting psychological research that might help explain what's going on, why we can feel so bothered by who's NOT engaging, and a surprising reason why some of the people you feel most uncomfortable showing up in front of could actually be incredibly valuable to your business. And why someone not pressing like doesn't necessarily mean they're not supporting you.If you've ever worried about what people you know think of you showing up online, I think you'll find this episode reassuring!Join me for BraveIf worrying about what other people think sometimes stops you showing up in your business, I'd love you to join me for Brave, my two-week visibility mindset programme starting on 9th November.Find out more here Connect with Vicki:Take the visibility archetype quizFollow me on Instagram: @iamvickiknightsCheck out my websiteReady to work together?Book a branding photo shoot with meFind out about my visibility coachingFind out more about The Visibility Retreat Grab The Confidence Toolkit for just £15Get my self-paced course, UNCOVER YOUR MAGIC (Use the code SHOWING UP for 10% off)Mentioned in this episode:Brave pre-roll - November Join me for Brave, my two-week visibility mindset programme starting on 9th November 2026.

Why does putting ourselves out there in business sometimes feel so uncomfortable? And is it possible to make showing up feel easier and maybe even enjoyable? This week I'm doing something a little different.I'm sharing a conversation I had with the wonderful Jo Ferrone on her podcast, How DOES She Do It?!, where I was on the other side of the microphone. We talk about some of the experiences that can shape our confidence, why so many women find visibility difficult and how we can start to feel more comfortable being seen and heard.I also share a little more about my own journey, from working in advertising to becoming a branding photographer and visibility strategist, and why positive psychology is such an important part of the work I do today. It's a lovely conversation, and I hope it gives you a few things to think about when it comes to your own visibility. In this episode, we chat about:How experiences from our younger years can affect the way we show up as adults. Why confidence isn't something we need to have before putting ourselves out there. The problem with following someone else's visibility strategy. Why understanding your strengths, values and personality is so important when building your personal brand. How small, courageous steps can help you feel more comfortable being visible. The unexpected connections and opportunities that can come from showing up.Mentioned in this episode:BRAVE – my 2 week visibility experienceIf you'd love to feel more comfortable and confident showing up in your business, come and join me for Brave, starting on 9th November.Over two weeks, we'll explore some of the things that might be holding you back from being more visible, so you can start showing up in a way that feels good to you.Find out more and join us: https://vickiknights.co.uk/braveListen to Jo FerroneJo is the host of How DOES She Do It?!, a brilliant podcast exploring business, life and finding a balance that works for you.You can also listen to my conversation with Jo here on Showing Up in episode 63, where we talk about confidence, changing the stories we tell ourselves and allowing ourselves to become someone new.Connect with Vicki:Take the visibility archetype quizFollow me on Instagram: @iamvickiknightsCheck out my websiteReady to work together?Book a branding photo shoot with meFind out about my visibility coachingFind out more about The Visibility Retreat Grab The Confidence Toolkit for just £15Get my self-paced course, UNCOVER YOUR MAGIC (Use the code SHOWING UP for 10% off)Mentioned in this episode:Brave pre-roll - November Join me for Brave, my two-week visibility mindset programme starting on 9th November 2026.

In this short solo episode, I share what I’ve been thinking about ever since I got back from running my Visibility Retreat a couple of weeks ago.On the first day, quite a few of the women arrived feeling exhausted and overwhelmed. They were doing all the things they thought they should be doing to grow their businesses, but it all just felt like… a lot.And over the three days, I noticed something shift. It made me realise there’s a part of visibility that we don’t talk about enough - and it might be the very thing that’s missing if showing up online is starting to feel exhausting, lonely or like you’re constantly shouting into the void. I share what I noticed at the retreat, what it made me realise about my own visibility, and the question I think is worth asking yourself if you’re creating content consistently but wondering whether any of it is actually moving the needle. I also share a little update about the podcast and why you’ll be hearing more short solo episodes from me over the coming months. If showing up has been feeling heavier than usual lately, this one’s for you.Connect with Vicki:Take the visibility archetype quizFollow me on Instagram: @iamvickiknightsCheck out my websiteReady to work together?Book a branding photo shoot with meFind out about my visibility coachingFind out more about The Visibility Retreat Grab The Confidence Toolkit for just £15Get my self-paced course, UNCOVER YOUR MAGIC (Use the code SHOWING UP for 10% off)Mentioned in this episode:Brave pre-roll - November Join me for Brave, my two-week visibility mindset programme starting on 9th November 2026.

You might be perfectly happy showing your face online, posting on social media or walking into a networking event… but how comfortable are you saying, “This is what I know and believe'?In this episode, I’m joined by Jo Ferrone, founder of How DOES She Do It?!, a community supporting female entrepreneurs through networking, mentoring and her podcast of the same name. Jo is also the creator of Soul Voice, where she’s recently started sharing the poetry she’d previously kept mostly to herself. We talk about the very different vulnerability that can come with sharing your expertise and ideas, why old stories about who we are can follow us long into adulthood, and what can change when we stop waiting to feel completely qualified or confident before putting our work into the world. We also chat about networking as a form of visibility, hiding behind humility, the courage it takes to share our creativity and why Jo now believes in doing things scared.Jo also reads one of her brilliant poems at the end of the episode.Find Jo:WebsiteInstagram: @howdoesshedoitlife & @soulvoicebyjoferronePodcast: How DOES she Do It?!Here is the link to my interview on Jo's podcast Also mentioned in this episode:The Visibility Workshop in Surrey on 8th October, 2026BRAVE, my free two-week visibility experience, is returning this October.
