Episode 23 and we are living inside the summer of Spider-Man. Mike, Jericho, and Jake break down their recent watches with heavy focus on Spider-Man: Brand New Day — Destin Daniel Cretton's MCU entry starring Tom Holland, Zendaya, Sadie Sink, and Jon Bernthal that dropped July 31st and has since become the third highest-grossing film of all time. We get into whether it earns that number or just inherits it.Then it's Movie Club time — this week's pick is HEEL, Jan Komasa's darkly funny, genuinely deranged thriller starring Stephen Graham and Andrea Riseborough about a couple who kidnap a teenage hooligan and chain him in their basement in the name of rehabilitation. It has a 94% on Rotten Tomatoes. It is not a comfortable watch. We loved it.After that, Jericho runs a horror-themed movie game that nobody asked for and everyone had to participate in anyway, and we close with a full draft of films from 2006 — one of the most stacked years in this series so far.🎧 New episodes every week. Episode 22 and we’ve got company. Mike, Jericho, and Jake are joined by a special guest — Nick Seider, the creator, writer, and one-man production powerhouse behind Green Valley Radio, the Spokane-based audio drama project that recreates the experience of tuning into a 1940s radio broadcast, complete with vintage-style news, music, characters, and original serial fiction. Nick brings serious storytelling credibility to the table and fits right in.The group revisits The Odyssey — Nolan’s IMAX epic is still living rent-free in everyone’s heads — then digs into the main event: a full draft of favorite Western films. Whether you’re a Leone purist, a Coen Brothers devotee, a Tombstone quoter, or a No Country apologist, this one has something to argue with. Saddle up.

Mike, Jericho, and Jake get into their recent watches — headlined by The Odyssey, Nolan’s massive IMAX epic starring Matt Damon as Odysseus that just opened to the biggest weekend of Nolan’s career. We break it all down. Also in the recent watches corner: Mike has discovered Masters of the Universe — both the gloriously unhinged 1987 Dolph Lundgren original and the 2026 reboot with Nicholas Galitzine and Jared Leto as Skeletor — and he would like to tell you about it at length. From there we take stock of 2026 with a discussion of our favorite films of the year so far, then close it out with a full draft of movies from 2005 — a year that gave us Batman Begins, Brokeback Mountain, Munich, A History of Violence, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Hustle & Flow, Cache, and more. Picks were argued. Stances were defended.🎧 New episodes every week. Follow so you never miss a drop.💛 Support the show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cw/honeywestartedapodcast
