Description

I'm Gary Leland, I'm over 70, and I plan to be the first human to live to 200, in good health. The 200 Year Life Project is my public experiment, and this show documents every step.

I smoked three packs a day for 20 years, drank heavily, topped 350 pounds and lived on five hours of sleep. Today I'm down to 184 pounds, sleep seven and a half hours, and I'm off my prescription medications. Now I'm testing what actually slows aging: supplements, bloodwork and biological age tests, full-body scans, exercise, sleep and daily protocols, with real numbers and honest results.

I also sit down with the scientists, doctors and founders pushing longevity forward, including Aubrey de Grey, Dr. Michael Roizen, Dr. Bill Andrews and Liz Parrish of BioViva.

Why 200? Researchers talk about longevity escape velocity: the point where medicine adds more than a year of healthy life for every year that passes. My job is to stay strong and sharp long enough to reach it. If a Boomer who wrecked his body can turn it around, so can you.

My full protocol, supplements and biomarkers are public at GaryLeland.com.

I'm Gary Leland, I'm over 70, and I'm running a public experiment to see how long a human can live. The goal is 200. On The 200 Year Life Project I share everything I'm trying: the supplements I take, the workouts I do, my bloodwork and biological age tests, and what I've quit along the way. When something works, you'll hear the numbers. When it doesn't, you'll hear that too. You'll also hear full-length conversations with the scientists and builders working on aging, including Aubrey de Grey, Dr. Michael Roizen, Dr. Bill Andrews and Liz Parrish of BioViva. Follow the show so you don't miss an episode. Aubrey de Grey, the gerontologist behind the LEV Foundation and the idea of longevity escape velocity, gives us roughly a 50-50 chance of reaching it within 12 to 15 years. He doesn't call himself a longevity researcher at all: he works on health, and longer life is the side effect. At 71, I asked him what arrives first, who gets it, and what someone my age should start doing now. In this conversation we cover: Why aging is accumulated damage, and why the body can be maintained like a machine Longevity escape velocity, explained, and why 60-year-olds will get the first treatments What the LEV Foundation is building, and how he got there from AI research What comes first: Parkinson's, stem cells and senolytic drugs that clear zombie cells Whether only the rich will get rejuvenation, and why governments will end up paying for it Retirement, inheritance and the expectation shock nobody is ready for The most overhyped thing in longevity If you're 70, where to start: bloodwork, your genome and knowing your body Learn more about the LEV Foundation: levf.org Read the full write-up: GaryLeland.com: Aubrey de Grey Interview Watch the video: YouTube Live long and prosper, Gary More from The 200 Year Life Project ๐Ÿ“ฐ Newsletter: garyleland.substack.com โ–ถ๏ธ Watch on YouTube: youtube.com/@garyleland ๐Ÿ“Š My protocols, supplements and test results: GaryLeland.com ๐Ÿค The 200 Year Life Mastermind: GaryLeland.com/mastermind I am not a doctor, and I am definitely not your doctor. Ask most people if they want to live to 200 and they say no before you finish the sentence. Richard Rossi, founder of the DaVinci 50 (D50) longevity mastermind, says it comes down to three fears: running out of money, running out of purpose and running out of friends. None of them is a medical problem. In this conversation we cover: Why Richard started D50: the group he wanted to join did not exist The three fears that make people say no to a longer life, and what to do about each one Why he deliberately builds friendships with people decades younger The "no hammer and no nail" principle, and why a mastermind should not push one doctrine How D50 events are structured, and why the breaks matter as much as the speakers Why he hired a judo expert to teach him how to fall Learn more about DaVinci 50: d50.fyi Read the full write-up: GaryLeland.com: Richard Rossi Interview Watch the video: YouTube Live long and prosper, Gary More from The 200 Year Life Project ๐Ÿ“ฐ Newsletter: garyleland.substack.com โ–ถ๏ธ Watch on YouTube: youtube.com/@garyleland ๐Ÿ“Š My protocols, supplements and test results: GaryLeland.com ๐Ÿค The 200 Year Life Mastermind: GaryLeland.com/mastermind I am not a doctor, and I am definitely not your doctor. What if you could save for a longer life in bitcoin, with the tax advantages of a health savings account? Stuart Lackey is co-founder and CEO of SOUND HSA, an HSA that holds real bitcoin instead of cash while keeping the HSA's triple tax advantage. In this conversation we cover: What SOUND HSA is and how the account works Direct primary care, and why more people are paying their doctor directly Why so many Bitcoiners take their health so seriously How to think about paying for a longer life Earning bitcoin for walking What anyone over 65 needs to know first: once you enroll in any part of Medicare you can't add new money to an HSA, but you can keep one and spend it tax-free on qualified medical costs Read the full write-up: GaryLeland.com: My Interview With Stuart Lackey Watch the video: YouTube Live long and prosper, Gary More from The 200 Year Life Project ๐Ÿ“ฐ Newsletter: garyleland.substack.com โ–ถ๏ธ Watch on YouTube: youtube.com/@garyleland ๐Ÿ“Š My protocols, supplements and test results: GaryLeland.com ๐Ÿค The 200 Year Life Mastermind: GaryLeland.com/mastermind I am not a doctor, and I am definitely not your doctor, and I am not a financial or tax advisor either. The creator of RealAge and Chief Wellness Officer Emeritus at the Cleveland Clinic says the average man can make his body about 29 years younger than his calendar age through daily choices. In this conversation we cover: What your RealAge is, and how it differs from the age on your birth certificate His top six longevity factors, in order: stress management ("posse, purpose and play"), food, avoiding unforced errors, physical activity, brain health and sleep, and preventing gum disease Why daily flossing made the list, and why supplements only rank seventh How a man of 80 exercises, and why he jumps every day for his spine and hips Coffee, eggs, soda and sweeteners, and the 36-a-day soda habit he quit on live TV Why he wants everyone to wear a glucose monitor at least once Why he puts the odds of a real breakthrough in reversing aging within about seven years at 80% or better Dr. Roizen's new book is YOU: Getting Older, written with his wife.
